my misconceptions
of who I thought

the bright and true
reality I had
squandered

I will know
what I missed
when I thought
I knew you

When I just
wrote you off
and didn't care
to take the time

And this is also
what I hope
you will someday
say of me

When you care
to look again
and see past
these easy lies
