MAGGIE's POV
I cried helplessly when Keith closed the door of the car after he put me down on the backseat. He even tied my hands and feet but I persevered and tried my best to get up even though I still felt weak. I tried to open the door but it was already locked.
"Keith! Open the door!" I yelled at him but he acted like he didn't hear it. He was about to get in when he suddenly groaned in pain before he lose consciousness. Someone hit him behind his head and that someone was him...
Upon seeing Marco, I couldn't hold back my tears from falling from my eyes. He was staring at me full of relief. He quickly opened the door and then took me in his arms.
"Thank God! I thought I was already late!" I could sense the worry in his voice. His body was slightly trembling. He kept on kissing the top of my head.
"Marco..." My voice was shaking as I kept on crying while still in his loving arms. I instantly felt safe upon feeling his warmth. He was hugging me ever so tightly as if he was afraid that I might disappeared on him any second.
He then unwrapped his arms and then pulled away from me to untie my hands and feet.
"Let's get out of here." He said and then carried me in his strong arms, bridal style. I held onto his neck and then leaned the side of my head against his hard chest.
I noticed some bloody bodies lying on the ground as we walked towards the direction of the road. Everything became so quiet. I thought everything was already finished, but then, we heard a voice behind us.
"Give her back to me. She's mine..." Marco turned around. My eyes widened upon seeing Keith. He came to. He looked weak while trying to get up. His hand was cupping the back of his head while staring daggers at us.
Marco smirked dangerously. "She's never yours, Apollyon. She's my woman, keep that in mind!" My mouth hang. Even in this kind of situation, Marco never failed to make my heart beat erratically. He really became open and straight forward of his feelings towards me.
Ever since he confessed his love for me, he became more determined to get into my heart.
But then, a realization it me. It seemed like they've known each other judging by the way they talked to each other, but what caught my attention was how Marco addressed Keith. Apollyon?
I wanted to ask questions but I chose to just remained quiet and listen.
"I will never let you win, Thamuz!" Keith hissed and then drew a gun and pointed at us. My eyes widened in horror. Marco took his gun a while ago but it looked like he was hiding another gun.
"Do you really think that I'll let you win just like that? You know me, Thamuz. I always get what I want. Hand her to me or else, I will kill you both." He threatened with his face contorted in anger but Marco remained unfazed. His face was unreadable.
"If I were you, I would get out of here before I kill you." Marco retaliated quietly but judging from the expression on his face, he was beyond livid. His eyes were staring at Keith like a lion hunting for a prey. I swallowed hard.
"Kill me? You don't even have your men with you while me on the other hand brought my men here to ensure my victory. You're surely surrounded by now and I clearly have the upper hand. I can kill you right now but it's a shame because I can't do that yet even if my hands are already itching to decapitate you." Keith answered like a devil. I shivered in fear hearing the last sentence that came out of his mouth.
"I can say the same to you. It's a shame that we can't kill each other right now because of the game that's why you should be thankful that I haven't ended your demon life by now yet. But let me clear one thing. No one hurts my queen and successfully get away with it. After I beat you, I will kill you as a payment of hurting her!" He spat at him menacingly.
Keith smirked smugly. "Beat me? Stop daydreaming. Do you really think that you could get out of here? No! Why don't you just give Maggie back to me and then I'll let you walk away unharmed? She's my girlfriend anyway. Don't be such a pussy-whipped, stealing other's property, Thamuz. She's nothing but a second-hand good anyway so use your brain and let her be with me instead. In return, I'll let you live...for a while." He then laughed loudly as if he already won.
I wanted to shout at him for referring to me as if I was nothing but a prostitute. Hatred rose within me. I couldn't believe that I let a man like him enter my life before. I even accepted his marriage proposal. My whole body shivered of that thought that I almost got married to this devil. Thankfully, Marco saved me from committing the biggest mistake of my life.
"Secondhand? You're the one who's dreaming here, Apollyon. We both know that." Marco retaliated tauntingly and Keith's eyes squinted in anger.
"Damn you!" He roared and was about to pull the trigger of the gun that he was holding when we heard a gunshot. Then, suddenly Keith fell on his knees as blood spilled from his leg. I heard him groan in pain. Somebody shot him from a distance. His gun fell on the ground as he cupped his wound. He was obviously in great pain.
"Ahhh! You'll pay for this Thamuz!" He yelled full of rage. I couldn't believe of what was happening. I wanted to think that I was only dreaming because the Keith that I've known for almost two years suddenly became a total stranger to me. I've never thought that he could act like this. I thought he was a good man but I was so wrong. He hid the real him while trying his best to fool me and twist me around his little finger.
I saw Keith called someone on his cellphone. "Where the f*ck are you?! Maggie and Thamuz are here with me at the parking lot! Call the others and come over here, you moron!" He shouted desperately and tried to reach for his gun but Marco didn't let that happened.
He approached Keith and kicked the gun away from him.
"You f*cker! You'll pay for this! I will kill you!" Keith kept on screaming but Marco ignored him. He was still carrying me.
"Marco, I think, I can manage to walk. I—"
"—Hold on tight." I heard Marco mumble, ignoring what I've said and before I could react, he ran away. He didn't even break a sweat while carrying me and running at the same time. I then heard series of gunshots around us. It felt like we were in the middle of a war and the feeling was horrible. I was already panicking so bad because of fear.
"Don't worry. I will never let them harm you. They will have to kill me first before I let anyone hurt you." My heart skipped a beat.
Upon hearing Marco's soothing voice, I instantly calmed down. For some reason, I was sure that we could get out of there alive. Deep within me, I already had a big trust in Marco.
We just reached the road when a car pulled up in front of us and then somebody opened it from the inside.
"Get in, Unu!" Marco quickly got us in and then put me down on the seat. The guy who let us in quickly closed the door while the driver hurriedly maneuvered the car out of there. The squeaking sounds of the tires echoed around us.
"Unu, Falcon are still fighting at the restaurant." The driver informed. Marco didn't reply. His eyes were fixed on me.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" He even inspected me worriedly from head to toe.
"I'm fine." I answered in an almost inaudible voice. My heartbeat was still fast because of fear.
"I'm glad you're here with me and unharmed because I will never forgive myself if he managed to take you away from me." He then kissed my forehead and then took out his phone from his pocket. He dialed someone's number.
"What happened, Falcon? Did you get him?" I heard him ask. I was already so confused of what was happening. I've never thought that I would experience terror like this.
"Minchia! How did he escape?!" He roared thunderously after that and I jerked in surprise. He looked menacing and his hand was balled into fist.
He squeezed his eyes shut and then released a harsh breath. "Okay. Just make sure that no one could follow us. He can't locate us no matter what happens." He ordered and then remained quiet for a couple seconds, listening to Falcon's answer before he ended the call.
"What happened, Unu? Did they get Apollyon?" The guy who opened the door for us asked Marco. He was now the sitting on the shotgun seat.
"He managed to escape but most of his men were already dead." Marco answered through gritted teeth. His fiery eyes looked terrifying, but strangely, I didn't feel scared.
I wanted to ask him a lot of questions but I knew that this wasn't the right time for that.
We travelled for about an hour before we pulled up in front of a five-star hotel. I read the name of the hotel in my mind. Montereal Hotel...
"We're here, Unu." The driver announced upon turning off the engine.
"Okay. We'll stay here until tomorrow. Tell Falcon to come and talk to me later." He instructed. The driver went out of the car and then opened the door for us. I was about to get out on my own when Marco stopped me.
"Let me carry you, my queen. I think you're still in a state of shock." He said. I leered at him.
"I'm fine now. I can walk on my own." I answered sternly and then got out of the car. I noticed that we were in front of the fire exit. "What are we doing here, Marco?" I asked.
"I can't let you go home after what happened. For sure, Apollyon will check if you're at home of not." I got worried.
"Oh, my God! They're going to check my house?! I need to go home then! My sister is at home and she's in danger!" I was about to leave them there to go hail a taxi when Marco stopped me by hand.
"Don't worry. Christine is perfectly safe. They won't hurt her and they will never dare doing so."
"But how can you be so sure? They're—"
"—Trust me. I am telling the truth. They won't hurt her nor get near her. Just calm down and let me handle everything." We stared into each other's eyes for a couple of seconds. I could tell the honesty in his eyes and I nodded my head.
"Okay. I trust you." I uttered and that made him smile. His face softened as his eyes even brightened.
"Really? That's music to my ears, my queen." He caressed my cheek affectionately. "Wait here. I'll just call someone." He then said and went for a couple of feet away from me. I saw him dial on his phone.
"I'm here." Was all he uttered and then ended the call. He then came back to my spot.
"Let's wait for someone." He said and gathered me in his arms. I felt him kiss the top of my head. I nodded my head in response.
I remained silent as I couldn't help but to think about what happened. I bit my lower lip. I suddenly felt guilty. Maybe Keith became like that because of me. He even killed an innocent man who tried to help me. My eyes watered.
"Don't ever blame yourself because of what happened. It's not your fault. Your ex is just a plain a*shole and devil, that's all." I looked up at Marco in wonder.
"How did you—" He pulled me by the waist until our bodies were pressed together even more.
"—It's very obvious that you're blaming yourself of what happened. I am telling you now. That's his real nature and he already killed a lot of people before. This is not the first time that he did this." I gasped.
"W-What? He killed a lot of people already?" I couldn't believe of what I've heard.
"Yes, my queen, so stop dwelling of what happened. There's only one person to blame of all these and that's Apollyon." His face turned dangerous upon uttering that name. I could see the incomparable fury in his amber eyes.
"You've been calling Keith, Apollyon, since a while ago and I have a feeling that it's not just his simple nickname. What does it mean?" I asked, determined to know what it meant. Marco's eyes evaded my gaze and didn't answer right away.
I was about to repeat my question when someone opened the exit door of the hotel and a handsome guy with a dark hair and grey eyes came out.
His height must be around 6'2. He looked like a supermodel wearing his blue office suit.
"What did you do again?" He asked Marco sternly upon reaching our spot.
"He's after us. We need to stay here until tomorrow." Marco answered. The guy switched his gaze on me. Then, the corner of his lips lifted.
"What a lucky girl." He uttered and then smiled at me. "Hello, baby. I'm Kyrus Montereal. What's your name? I'm this jerk's best friend, by the way." He extended his hand for a handshake.
"Maggie Lenard." I answered and was about to accept his hand when Marco suddenly spoke.
"Call my queen 'baby' again and you're dead." He warned dangerously. Kyrus smirked at him.
"You heard the man, baby. He just gave me his blessings to call—" Before he could finish what he was trying to say, Marco's fist flew straight to his face. I closed my eyes and squealed in horror.
"Hey, I'm just messing around, buddy. You never changed. You're still as hot headed as before." Upon hearing Kyrus' amused voice, I slowly opened my eyes, expecting a blood on his lips but there was none. Looked like he managed to evade Marco's attack.
"She's mine and I'm the only one who could call her of any endearment out there." Marco answered with a hardened face as he put his arm over my shoulders and pulled me closer to him possessively.
Kyrus whistled. "So possessive. Darn. I'm cringing so hard right now. I've never thought that the high and mighty Marco Pearce was capable of this kind of affection."
"Shut up! Let us in already!" He barked at him.
"Relax. Your temper is really one of a kind. Don't worry. She's all yours." Kyrus answered and then winked at me.
"You—"
"Marco! Stop it!" Marco was about to attack him again but I stopped him. Kyrus laughed loudly while shaking his head.
"I can't believe this. You're the only one who could raise a voice at him like that and gets away with it." He laughed again and I caught Marco glaring at him but he was unaffected. "Anyway, let's go. We can't afford them to discover that you're here." He led us the way. Marco's men remained outside. They would probably wait for Falcon and the others.
We got into the elevator. "You should've informed me earlier that you're going to come here so that I could've reserved suites for you." Kyrus said.
"This is your f*cking hotel, Ky. You can throw your visitors out if you want to." I glared at Marco and he gulped upon seeing my sharp stare. He cleared his throat.
"We will take whatever suites available." He continued in a mellowed tone and I mentally shook my head. Kyrus burst out into a fit of laughter.
"Man! This is so fun to watch. I've never imagined the great Marco Pearce to be this pussy-whipped."
"You—"
"—Marco! Will you stop?!" I rebuked. He sighed in defeat.
"Fine. I'll keep quiet." He then took my hand and intertwined our fingers together. I didn't protest and just let him do what he pleases. Then, we heard the 'ding' sound and the elevator doors opened. We stepped out of it and walked towards a certain door.
"This is your room." Kyrus informed us and then opened the door. My eyebrows creased.
"What about mine?" I couldn't help but ask. Kyrus gave me a lopsided grin.
"Sorry, I regret to mention that this is the only suite available. It's the peak season after all." My jaw slacked open.
"You're kidding me, right?"
He shook his head while staring at me, feigning innocence. "No, I am not." His eyes were sparkling with mischief. Marco pulled me closer to him and put his arm over my shoulders.
"Finally, I finally heard good news today." He said contentedly with a meaningful smile. I gave him a look but he just shrugged his shoulders and grinned like a fool.

Did it occur in you that Marco is Thamuz and Keith is Apollyon?
Who still remembers Kyrus? He's in "L'amour fou", btw.
What do you think of the real Keith?
