November 12th
It fell from the sky.
Diving through the stars as it's silence didn't dare to break the night air. It's grey pencil like silhouette looking menacing as it honed onto its target. Getting closer and closer as it's red nose began to look like fire in the moonlight. A death sentence from the heavens.
The missile fell through the glass dome of the Capitulum where it exploded from the inside. The explosion made the windows and glass dome break outwards. Shaking up the round ancient building as it stained the white marble walls with grey soot. The doors had fallen as chairs and tables were shattered into splinters. The ancient silk rugs and curtains had caught on fire as a second explosion went off. Disintegrating every last piece of fabric as the sound of heavy boots stormed the hallway.
"Move out! Search the area!" An unknown voice had said. A male voice. "Make sure no one is left alive!"
That's when they came into view. There was twenty of them, each wearing black as their hair ran wild. Their vibrant, pensive eyes catching the light as they looked around confused. Vampires. They knew that when they entered there wasn't going to be a fight. But they were at least expecting bodies, werewolf bodies all dolled up and laying lifeless on the floor. Their eyes looked around frantically finding that the room was barren of bodies or any sign of life that could have been there before. There was nothing, no one had died and it seemed that no one was there before.
"What is the hold up??" A booming voice shouted from the hall. One all to familiar as he waltzed in like the big shot he thought he was. The vampires fell to their knees one by one as their heads hang low, not daring to look up at the man who just walked into the room. His boots were heavy as the tail of his long, black trench coat barely touched the floor. He ran his hand through his jet black hair as his crimson red eyes search the area frantically. His face was blank and his jaw dropped as he saw that his plan did not go how he wanted. Someone had snitched, someone had warned them, but who? Who could have known, who could have betrayed him, or...who let the bat out of the bag? He snarled, his face contorted into rage as he screamed with failure. He thrash his head around frantically which is when his eye caught the glimpse of a camera tucked up in a corner. He stopped, looking at the camera dead on as his eyes looked like fire. Burning brightly as he tilt his head and his lips turned into a devilish grin.
That was when the video turned black. I blinked, feeling a little uneasy as Ky held me by my waist. My arms crossed against my chest as the Alpha's of the Collectione Eliphaz stood next to us. My eyes flickered to the clock on the bottom right of the monitor before us.
November 13th, 3:00 pm.
"From the video," my CIA brother chimed in. Placing his hand on his peer that had just played the video for us. The giant monitor paused on the blacked out section of the video. "We could tell that Dante Knight bombed the Capitulum around 8pm last night."
"So what you're saying is-" Alpha Darkwood began before Henry cut him off.
"Was that my sister's intel was very reliable." There was a moment of silence as my brother placed his hands behind his back. "And I'm sure she would agree with me when I say we're all glad that you decided to follow her intuition and decide to have the reunion at a secure location. The lives of foreign packs were in your hands and you made the right choice." My brother complimented, a smile tugging at his lips as he gave me a personal wink. I smiled and gave him a hidden thumbs up.
"So what happens now?" Ky asked, feeling his arm tighten around my waist. Pulling me close to him as I could tell he was tensed, agitated.
"Now," Alpha Whitewater began. Making all eyes turn to her as she stood confident. Her hands fist at her sides as her eyes burned. "Now we declare war."
"I was hoping you would say that." Henry replied with a smile. His hand hovering over his peer's keyboard as if he was searching for something. His smile fell, "we got this this morning." He pressed a key and the giant monitor brought up another video. The thumbnail was a picture of Dante's face sitting in front of a white wall. The title read "Death Promise" with the little devil emoji at the end of it. I could see Ky's face drop before it hardened in a hateful glare. "We found it on our home screen ready to play. We don't know how it got into the system, but we do know that it is authentic. I had analyzed it just before we called you in, there's a message in it I don't quite understand. I'm hoping you will be able to." Henry looked at his peer and nodded to which the peer turned back to his computer and pressed play. I could feel my breath stifle and Ky squeeze my side as Dante's deep voice erupted from the speakers.
"I see that someone has ruined my little surprise." He teased. Sitting back in his chair as his wicked grin flashed one of his fangs. "No matter, I still got the reaction I hoped to get from you. Which is war of course, revenge, hand to hand combat." He fixed his jacket, pulling the ends of it to make it go snug on his shoulders. He cleared his throat as he crossed his legs and folded his hands on his knee. "Now let's talk business. It's true that one of my main goals was to essentially kill Ky Severs's mate, an eye for an eye as you would say. That's still my main goal, but in reality I want you all to suffer."
I could feel the atmosphere drop as everyone in the room became tense. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna bomb you again. Besides that was the only bomb I had, an antic that my father stole from a military base decades ago. And even if I did have a bomb to kill you with, that would be too easy. No, I want to go back into the past. To the time when I was able to have your filthy mutt blood on my hands. I want to rip out every organ from every werewolf man, woman, and child. I want to see your lifeless corpses scattered across that field where my father was left to die. But most importantly, I want to see Ky Severs's face when I rip his mate's throat out with my teeth as her body grows cold." He laughed, his eyes looking wild and thirsty. The eyes of a monster. "You know the time, you know the place. I'll be waiting."
The screen turned black again, ending the video as Ky's eyes looked dark and distant. Holding onto me so tightly that is almost hurt. I yelped softly and in hearing this he relaxed his arm. My brother sighed and looked at the room before him. Just by the way they were standing he knew that they know what Dante had met. His eyes falling upon Ky, looking for answers.
"By the look on your face," he began, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I could tell that you know what this means. Please, enlighten me."
Ky didn't reply right away, his voice dark and menacing when he finally did. "He wants to go back to that day."
"What day?" Henry pressed.
"The day that I killed his father. The war that changed everything."
"So when he says, "you know the time, you know the place," it's-"
"January 22, noon on the field next to dead man's creek." Ky interrupted. His eyes looking directly into Henry's for the first time. "He's old fashioned, so it would make sense that he would want to do an exact mirroring of that day. Going at it with nothing but our brute strength and hand to hand combat. No guns, no bombs, no government help, so-"
"Yes, yes I know." Henry interrupted, putting his hands up in the air as if to say "I surrender". "I won't interfere and are you really going to abide by his rules? What if he's lying?"
"If anything Vampires are," Alpha Crescent chimed in. "They aren't liars. Their creator made it so. Just like how we have our strong pack bond, they have the ability to not tell lies."
"Their creator?" Henry said confused. Looking at Alpha Crescent with a puzzled expression. He was about to inquire more when Alpha Severs placed his hand on Alpha Crescent's shoulder. Looking down at her with warning eyes before looking at Henry.
"That's a story for another time," he explained before looking at Alpha Whitewater to take it away.
"So that settles it," she said, picking up on Alpha Severs's cue. "We'll attack January 22 at noon. Same place, same time, we'll give him what he wants: a fight. We will give him a fight that he will never forget. A fight that makes him regret threatening our kind in the first place. Prepare your packs, utilize anyone who wants to fight, make them strong, train them. If he wants to take us down as a family, we fight as a family. We will show him our true wrath and make sure that no other vampire will attack us ever again. This. Ends. Now." She growled, emphasizing each word before she turned away. Storming out of the room as the rest followed slowly behind.
"Thanks for your help Henry." Alpha Severs said before he reached the door.
"Anything for the pack, sir." Henry replied, nodding with determination. Alpha Severs smiled and nodded with melancholy before he went through the door. Me and Ky were about to leave as well when my brother called out to my mate. "Hey Ky! I got a question!" Henry walking up to us as we now stood side by side. Me and Ky getting some distance between us so we wouldn't act all lovey dovey in front of my brother.
"What's up?" Ky's composure seemed to soften between Dante's video and now. His eyes dancing with light as he looked at my brother with kindness.
"Dante is old fashioned right?" Henry asked, being careful with his tone for he knew he was trudging in rough waters.
"Yeah?" Ky's voice seem to be getting distant again.
"And you remember when he said that whole "an eye for eye" thing right?"
"What's your point?" Ky was getting annoyed. Henry, not a good way to start a relationship with your future brother-in-law AND future Alpha. I wanted to scold him so badly, but I feel like he was trying to get somewhere. A point that no one else seemed to ask or perhaps too afraid to acknowledge.
"If you killed his father, no offense but why isn't he going after your father?" They was a dead silence as I could feel the drop of a pen. "I mean," he tried to play it off cool-like. "That's what "an eye for an eye" means right? You take the exact same equivalent of what was taken from you. So wouldn't, in this case, mean "a father for a father," so why is he going after you mate?"
Ky took a deep breath and his hand found mine. Squeezing it fondly to steady himself. "Back then, His father was all Dante had. He had no siblings since his mother died giving birth to him. His father was the most important thing in his life. He knew if he took mine that I wouldn't feel the same pain that he did. That I wouldn't feel utterly alone like he did. So, he decided to come after a werewolf's most important person in their life: their mate. My mate for he knew if anything were to happen to her, I would just tear in two."
"He probably also thought that Alpha Severs would be too much of a challenge for him." I chimed in, squeezing Ky's hand as I stood proud.
"So he thought Ky's mate would be an easier target for she would be weaker." Henry added, coming to that conclusion almost all on his own.
"Yes," my eyes burning their vibrant blue. "But he didn't know that it would be me."
* A month later *
(Play Song)
"Come on Rachel! You're gonna have to do better than that!" I mocked, dodging her punch as I swung my leg at her feet. Making her fall onto the wet snow. I patted my hands together as if I was rubbing dirt off of them. She growled and lunged herself back onto her feet. She wasted no time with a round house kick, which I blocked perfectly with my forearm. I grabbed her leg, watching her eyes go wide as I flipped her. Lunging her a few feet away from me.
It's already been a month since we declared war on Dante Knight and his people. After seeing that video, the next day we wasted no time to get our packs trained. Training day in and day out, from morning to evening in the blistering cold. Since we're gonna fight a battle in the snow, we better get accustomed in fighting in it. So we train outside in special warmth combatting suits and jackets, giving us the ability to move sleeker and faster. Training mostly takes place in the Severs's massive back yard or in secluded parts of the forest.
Some days we do whole group lessons, teaching them how to use the land or how to find their opponents' weak spot. Others we disperse and pair fighters up with people they can learn from and teach as well. Sometimes the pairings don't last as long for one may get stronger and need another opponent, some last longer because they think they work well together. We do allow our students to request people they would like to train with or teachers they prefer to work under. Before training even began I got a few request from students, but unfortunately due to my state in the beginning I would have to decline them and refer them to Jason. The first week of training I couldn't participate due to the fact that I was still healing. By the end of the week the bandages were off and Sakura's mother said that I could go ahead and start fighting again, but told me to take it easy for the next three days. Just to see how things are feeling or if I needed some kind of physical therapy.
Luckily for me, no physical therapy was needed, but once back in the game I didn't take students right away. I decided to spar with Jason for a couple of sessions just to make sure that I could still take him down in a fight. To make sure that I still got it to be called the first ranking Beta. I took him down in every fight effortless, hurting his ego almost every time. Of course we're still friends and even though I'm stronger than him, he still gets the most student requests. I bet it's because of his devilish charm or maybe those students are working their way up to me. Who knows.
By the middle of the second week I was ready to start taking some students. Of course my main student was Rachel since she was the first one who so badly wanted to spar with me. My second was Annabelle, Ky's little sister, I had the most fun training with her. Despite being an Alpha she had a lot to learn, but I have no doubt that once she gets to my age she would be able to beat me in a heart beat. She was like a little firecracker, full of surprises that kept me on my toes. Then I would have an young African male spar with me from time to time. Which surprised me since I don't really get a lot of male students since most of them can't stand the fact that a woman is stronger than them. Darn male pride. The man's name was Kane and sometimes he would bring his younger brother Abel who just beamed with respect for me. I liked Kane, he was a good dude and even a greater brother to Abel. We would always end our sessions with "sometimes tomorrow?" "You know it!" I would always shout back.
Then of course I would always get people who would train with me on and off again, trying to decide which teacher better fit their style. But that's okay, I was happy with the three anyway.
Rachel groaned from me throwing her. Getting up on her hands and knees as strands of her fiery red hair fell from her ponytail and onto her face.
"You alright?" I shouted from a distance, not sure if she was using one of tactics I taught her to fool me. She didn't answer me, causing me to take a step forward as worry took over. Was I too rough? "Rachel?" She was silent for a minute then a snarl erupted from her lips as she got to her feet. Quickly shifting to her wolf form as massive paws sloshed in the wet snow. Not gonna lie, her wolf had the markings of a fox. Rich, vibrant red fur coated the top of her body and face as it faded into pure white on her underbelly. All three of her legs were pure red as her front right paw had a small white sock that went up to her wrist. The tip of her tail holding a tuft of white as a small white diamond painted her forehead. She snapped her jaw as her electric green eyes intensely stared into me. I smirked.
"Think you can handle me in your wolf form?" I mocked, earning another snapping of the jaw from her.
"Try me," she growled. Her ears furrowing back against her head as her lips pulled back to show her canines. I chuckled, shaking my head as I shifted into my wolf form. I snapped my jaw, growling at her as my ears furrow back on my own head. At first she was taken aback by my appearance, snow white fur and the most intense blue eyes she's ever seen. She shook her head, getting back into the gist of things as she snapped her jaw once more. She was ready and we began to circle each other. We were squaring each other off, nipping at each other's feet to make the other attack first. She yelped when my jaws got too close to her leg, retaliating with a bark. I nipped at her legs again and she lunged at me.
Now I've got you, I thought as I dodged her attack. Letting her fall on the ground as I pounced on her. I snapped my jaw at her neck before she kicked me off. I fell on my side as she got back to her feet. I could hear her running towards me as I quickly rolled to stand back up. But I was too late to get out of the way and our bodies collided. We scratched, bit, and snarled at each other, but we weren't fighting to hurt each other. Each attack was carefully planned to make sure that we left no marks or damage the other in anyway. We were more like two pups play fighting with a tone of seriousness behind it. Teaching each other how to be better fighters by showing different techniques or tricks. Force and impact would have to be something she would have to learn on her own. Or practice on not a live person or thing.
She got my ear in between her teeth, making me yelp as I head-butted her in the chest. The impact made her let go as it winded her, losing her balance as she fell to the ground. She laid there for a bit, me standing over her as our eyes locked. By now, we were two hot, panting messes. Feeling my chest rise up and down frantically as I could see her shoulders waver with every breath. Once again I stood victorious, though she lasted longer than I thought she would. She's getting stronger, more ready to fight, I'm not going to be worried leaving her alone in battle. She can handle herself. I growled and she broke eye contact with me. I could see she was debating whether or not to keep going or to end today's session here. I could tell that her body wasn't able to go another round, but her spirit was pumped and ready for more. I nudged her shoulder with my nose causing her to look back up at me.
'One of the greatest aspect of a fighter is knowing when they have lost.' I mind linked and I could see her face fall. She looked away, contemplated, and then nodded with obedience. She shifted and I had shifted only moments after her.
"You almost had me there," I said. Grabbing her hand to help her up. Getting her back to her feet before she began dusting snow off her body.
"Whatever," She said disgruntled. Frustrated with herself as her hands clenched at her sides. I could see she was beating herself up over it, mentally cursing as she stood stiff.
"Hey," I placed my hand on her shoulder. Breaking away the mental grudge match she was having with herself. "It's okay. Things like this take time."
"But I don't have time." She said, on the verge of sobbing. "I-"
"I know you want to protect your home. And you will, but you're not going to learn everything all in one go. You're not gonna beat me on the first, second, or even twentieth session we have together. You may never beat me and you don't have to beat me. The point is to get stronger not to take down the girl who took on two Alphas and lived!" I said with a bit of humor, making her chuckle softly. I smiled pulled at my lips when I heard her laugh. "And besides its only December 13 and you still have about a month and a half before January 22. And from the few days of training with me, I can already tell that you have improved greatly. Can't you feel it?"
"I mean yeah, but I thought I was just getting ahead of myself."
"No, you really are improving. Have more faith in your skills man. You're doing a great job, I have no doubt that you'll be as strong as a Beta by January."
She looked at me with a little disbelief, but it was soon covered with a genuine smile. "Thanks Serena, same time tomorrow?" She said as she held her hand out to me. Waiting for me to grab her forearm like I did a month ago. Making it a habit that this is how we end every session, with her asking me for a lesson the next day and initiating the verbal sign for "family".
I grabbed her forearm, holding it tightly as we looked directly into each other's eyes. "I wouldn't miss it for the world." Her smile gets brighter and our hands fall at the same time. She nods, says goodbye, and then leaves as she stretches her arm off to the side. I watch as I couldn't help but laugh as I see a pep in her step.
"I see you two are becoming great friends." A voice adds.
