November 10th
"I'm sure you already know why I'm here." Ky said as he sat at my kitchen table, looking my father in the eye as my mother sat idly by. I was leaning against the wall as I watch the interaction carefully, making sure that my father wouldn't rip Ky's face off. Holding my sides as my wounds were still fresh and new. "I-"
"You're my daughter's mate, aren't you?" My father interrupted, his face stoic as it hid all hint of emotion. Ky was a little surprised by his statement, curious as to how he possibly might know.
"How did y-"
"No male werewolf knocks on my door late at night and asks about my daughter's date if he wasn't her mate." Ky stiffened as blush crept onto my cheeks. A small chuckle passing my lips. "And besides, I don't think you would work as frantically as you did to find her if she wasn't your mate." My father finished with a smile as my mother grabbed his hand tenderly. Her blue eyes twinkling before she gave Ky a wink, making him relax in his seat. Ky smiled as he leaned on his elbows, getting ready to deliver the bad news.
"I'm glad you accepted me Mr.Ha-"
"Call me dad, son." Dad said wholesomely, a beaming smile crossing my lips. Ky trying to hide his own smile as he felt honored by being called "son" by my father.
"Thank you sir, but-"
"Please," dad put his hand up, stopping Ky from any further discussion as he looked like he had something to say. "Let us go first," dad paused as he looked at mom with his evergreen eyes. She nodded, tightening her grip on dad's hand before she looked at Ky.
"We already spoke to your father." Mom's voice was like a bell; warm and clear. "We already know everything."
Ky looked dumbfounded. "What do you mean by "everything"?" Needing clarification.
"Everything, like how you put our daughter's life in danger." Dad growled between his teeth. Crossing his arms before he fell back into his chair, his black wolf eyes flashing. It took him a moment to relax, sighing as he ran his hand through his dirty blonde hair. "But the bastard shouldn't have made a threat that he wouldn't be able to keep." He smirked, talking about Dante as his eyes returned to his green.
"So we decided," mom chimed in, "that it would be best if Serena lived with you for now. I mean it's normal for young mates to live together married or not, but this way you can keep an eye on her. Give her your full protection, there is...just one requirement though."
"And what's that?" Ky is filled with anticipation, waiting as he held the edge of his seat. Soon realizing that this talk was gonna be easier than he thought, though this one request may stop him in his tracks. He waited, ready for the gavel to drop.
"You come leave with us for a couple of weeks or a month if you wish. Just as long as you give me some time with my daughter and with you. That...is my one request." Mom smiled. Chuckling as she could see the relieve and excitement wash over Ky's face.
"I can do that." Ky spoke with refound confidence. My parents giving him a reassuring nod as they themselves couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. Another son was added to the Havenmoon's family and boy, I already knew that they were proud of him. An Alpha, my Alpha, my mate.
"Serena" my mom said as she looked at me. Diminishing my train of thought as I could feel something gnaw at the back of my brain. Unsure of what it is or how important the matter. "There's a suitcase filled with a month's worth of clothes up in your room. Go ahead and get it so you'll have something to where while living with Ky. So you can feel, well I guess...less comfortable." She laughed as her short chestnut hair brushed the tip of her shoulders. Gesturing to Ky's shirt that hanged very baggy on my frame and pants too big for my hips.
"Mommmmm" I groaned with embarrassment. Hearing Ky laugh at me as I storm up the stairs. Once I was out of sight, the three burst into laughter. Rolling my eyes before they slowly transition into small chatter.
I closed my bedroom door, leaning up against it as I see the big red suitcase on my bed. Then I looked at my closet, the door wide open as I got an idea. I stripped myself of Ky's clothes, tucking them into the nicely folded suitcase to take them with us. I moved to the closet, slipping on a pair of black cotton jeans and a white button down shirt. I went towards my full length mirror, tucking my shirt into my pants before quickly tying my hair into a messy bun. I sat on the bed and slipped on my ankle black boots, the sound of their zippers cutting the silence. I stood up, feeling a few inches taller as I took one last look in the mirror.
"Perfect!" I whispered with accomplishment. Grabbing my suitcase off the bed as I take a glance at my phone.
November 10th, 2019.
I froze, November 10th. I got an uneasy feeling, one that was unknown to me but lingered. What was suppose to happen on November 10th? I felt like I was about to figure it out as my mother called from afar.
"Coming!" I said in response. Slipping my phone in my back pocket before I scurried to the stairs. I stopped, clearing my throat before I fixed my appearance. Making my way down the stairs slowly as I dragged the suitcase carefully behind me. A whistle goes off in the distance and I see a gawking Ky standing by the door.
"You cleaned up nice." My mother teases as she gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Call your brothers, Robert is in school right now and Henry is busy at work. But please make sure you call, they've been worried sick."
"I will, I promise. Bye mom." I replied as she released me from her hug. Turning around to hug dad as he gave me his goodbyes. Hug, kiss, kiss, goodbye. Snapping Ky out of his glance as he quickly grabbed my suitcase with one hand and grabbing my hand with the other.
"You better take care of my daughter Severs! She's the only one I got!" My mother shouted after him as we walked through the front door.
"I will! I promise!" He shouted back, unlocking his black mustang before I hopped in the passenger seat. Hearing the opening of the trunk as he lugged my suitcase in like a gentleman. The trunk closed with a bang before Ky hopped in the car. Giving my body a long gaze as his eyes lingered on my thighs.
"See something you like?" I teased, a smirk on my lips.
(Play Song)
He smiled smugly. "Always," he chuckled before turning on the car engine. Pulling out of the drive way as my cheeks turned a crimson red. I turned away, looking out the window embarrassed. AJR's "Burn the House Down" was on the radio as I slowly drifted into my thoughts.
November 10th, why does that date feel so...urgent. I sat there for a while, tossing the date in my head as I just couldn't put my finger on it. It was nagging at me, pulling at my thoughts as it urged for my focus. Hearing the lyrics of the song invade my ears like a silent whisper in the wind.
~We gon' burn the whole house down.~
My eyes bulged out of my head as I could literally hear a click go off in my brain.
"Ky!" I shouted. Startling him as his hands remained steady on the wheel. His body resisting the urge to swerve as he pulled over onto the side of the road. Putting the car in park as he took a deep breath.
"Serena!" He scolded me. His nostrils flaring as he was mostly scared of what could have happened if he didn't keep his grip. I sank into my chair, putting my hands up in defense as I knew I did a stupid thing.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know it was a stupid thing to yell. I just got excited."
Seeing my apologetic face he relaxed in his chair. Sighing as he looked at me and lowered his voice tenderly. "What did you get excited about?"
Before I answered I grabbed his hand. Holding onto it urgently as he could tell that what I was about to say was a serious matter. "Ky, I had a bracelet on me when you got me from Dante's. Where is it?"
His face fell, giving me a look that screamed "seriously?!". "Are you k-"
"Shh!" I hushed him. "Answer the question. Where is it!" I said frantic but determined.
"In here," he said quickly. Surprised by my behavior as his hand opened a compartment in the middle of his console. His fingers gently went into the compartment, drawing out the golden chain before the golden medallion caught my eye. I took it, feeling the coolness of the metal as I shifted the rhombus in my hand. I pressed hard and with a click, the rhombus opened up like a butterfly. The inside looked like a circuit board. Like the one you would see on the inside of the computer as a small microchip laid snugly in the middle. With a careful finger I worked the microchip out of it's space. I held it up to the light between my pointer finger and thumb gently. Ky sat there, dumbfounded as his tongue searched for answers. His mind going a million miles per minute.
"Take me to the Collectione Eliphaz immediately." I demanded. Without a second thought, Ky quickly put the car in gear and sped down the road.
Let me explain. Remember my brother Henry, the CIA agent. For my sixteenth birthday, he gave each member of our family a piece of technology that could record 744 hours of audio and 336 hours of video. He had this technology especially designed for us due to his high positioning job and the enemies he makes every day. It records with a push of a button along with a voice recognition and will not stop recording until it's full or if my brother reactivates it. The information gets transferred into a small but highly advanced microchip that could be released from the device with a push of the device's main face. Once removed the information can easily be transferred into a flash drive. The technology is very exclusive and is made personally for each member of the Havenmoon family. Mine was a bracelet, my mother's is her necklace, my father's is his watch, Robert's his hardcover wallet, and Henry's is his wedding ring. This is what I told them as the seven of them looked at me dumbfounded.
"Ms. Havenmoon what is the point of this?" Alpha Light questioned, her violet blue eyes looking at me analytically. Ky stood behind me against the wall as I felt his eyes giving Alpha Light a soft but stern glare. I didn't answer her, my hands falling to the laptop before me. The flash drive placed perfectly in its port as my eyes locked with each and every Alpha. Cain Severs giving me a grin as he leaned back in his chair, looking proud.
"My point is..." I began before turning the laptop around. Facing the screen towards them as I took a step back. Holding my side as I heard the distant shuffle of Ky's feet. Ready to catch me in case I fall. "...is that you need to see this. Press play." No one moved an inch, looking at the screen as it showed that the video has already been played halfway through.
"Why is it in the middle?" Alpha Blackhall asked as he looked a little less skeptical than Alpha Light.
"The first half of the video is filled with my screams. I didn't want to ruin your care free minds with that and besides what you need to know is in this point of the video." I said stoic, my head held high as they looked at me. Frozen by my composure and my disconnected demeanor. "Now please," I began again. Shaking them out of their frozen state, "press play."
Without a second to waste, Alpha Severs reached over Alpha Whitewater and pressed the mouse pad. Alpha Whitewater was about to protest but her voice was cut off as the sound of two men came from the laptop. All eyes turned to the screen as it revealed two male vampire guards standing outside of a jail cell. The video was filmed from an upward angle due to the fact that I was sitting on the floor that day. Hiding slightly in the shadows to make it seem like I wasn't interested in their damn conversation. The two men took a quick glance at their surroundings, making sure that no one else was allowed to hear.
"Dude are you sure this is a safe place to talk. The prisoner-" he pointed to me. The other man cutting him off as he placed his hand on the raised arm that was pointed in my direction. Setting it down as he looked so nonchalant and confident.
"There is nothing to worry about. Besides she looks half conscious anyway and even if she did understand what we were talking about who in their right mind would believe her??"
"Yeah, but-"
"Oh shut up. We don't have much time. Listen closely." They looked around one more time. Leaning in close to each other before they started sharing a common secret. "I can't believe King Dante is going to bomb the Capitulum!" The guard spoke excited. Quivering in his boots like a school girl who just found out their favorite band was coming to play in their hometown. Despite the giddiness of the guard, the people in the room were not happy. In fact they were frozen in shock as the atmosphere slowly turned from fear to anger in a matter of seconds. Watching on with their hands in their lap and jaw clenched tight.
"Yeah," they other guard laughed, trying to hide his confusion.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you excited??" The giddy guard questioned. Grabbing his friend's shoulder dumbfounded.
"Um..." he hesitated. "What is the the Capitulum again?" He asked, his voice getting higher in pitch with every word he spoke. His body tucking in on itself as he was afraid of get punched for his stupidity. But the other guard just shook his head and sighed.
"You really don't know anything about our enemies do you?? Why didn't you pay attention to Werewolf politics when we were in school!!!" He scolded, sounding more caring than angry as his friend just rolled his eyes. "Anyway," he began throwing his hands in the air. "The Capitulum is basically the werewolves' capital. A save guard that allows all the council members of the world to meet in one spot annually. And what do you have to be in order to be a council member?"
"An Alpha?" The stupid guard answered in a question, not feeling too sure about himself.
"Precisely!" A hint of pride shimmering in the giddy guards eyes. "Kill the council members, kill the alphas, kill the alphas..."
"Packs shatter." The stupid guard finished.
"Equals easy world domination." He smirked, a dark evil glance residing deep in his ember eyes.
"When does this all go down?"
"November 12th."
"Why that date?"
The giddy guard looked at him, resisting the urge to face palm himself. "Cause that's when they all meet. A "reunion" as you would call it, they will all be in one place at the same time. The perfect time to strike," he emphasized as he ran the back of his thumb against his neck. Mimicking the action of slitting one's throat.
The confused guard was about to add something when his eyes caught mine. Noticing that I was looking at the two of them, but he didn't seem too worried about whether I was listening or not. Instead his lips twitched into a smirk, a perverted one as he came closer to my cell. Hearing me scuffle away slightly as the video stayed on him, watching him bend on his knees as if he was talking to a child. "Well hello doll," his voice was rough and deep. Grabbing one of the bars before he continued. "Damn, you sure are beautiful...for a werewolf that is. But I can see why Dante wants us to keep an eye on you. Tell me, has my king shove his cock inside of yo-"
I stopped the video, my hand moving faster than it has ever had in my life. Feeling the presence of jealous Ky behind me, I'm sure I'm gonna have to deal with that later. I cleared my throat, once again breaking the frozen state of the Alphas before me. Straightening my back before I continued to speak. "Two days from now, Dante and his men are going to bomb and potentially raid the Capitulum. Killing you and several Alpha leaders around the world. Make the rest of us easy pickings for the slaughter."
"What do you suggest?" Alpha Crescent chimes in. Her rich brown eyes looking at me with bewilderment. "That we cancel the annual gathering? Break a tradition that has been set by our ancestors?"
"If it means saving your lives, yes!" I snapped. My voice stern and hard like a rock. "But if you don't prefer that solution have the event at a secret location. One that only you, the other council members, and your Betas know about."
"Wait a minute," Alpha Ragon said, raising his hand to bring attention to himself. Looking towards his peers to speak to them personally. "How do we know this video is not a fake? How do we know it wasn't corrupted just to get a rise out of us?"
"I can assure you it's real. This is CIA technology we are talking about, not just some cam recorder I had in the back of my room. But...if that's not enough for you," I paused. Reaching into the vanilla folder I had set earlier on the table in front of me. "Here's an official report of the videos authenticity which includes who had access to this video and if there was any chance of contamination." I slipped the report across the table to Alpha Ragon. His hands touching it immediately as he quickly scanned through the sheets. "It was done by a professional third party, so the analyzer wasn't doing me any favors if that is what you're thinking." I added, Ragon looking up from the report.
"How do we know that you weren't brainwashed during this time? How do we know that you're not subconsciously helping them as we speak? Showing us this scandal in order for us to make the wrong move and make a fool of ourselves." Alpha Darkwood retorted. His hands fists on the table.
"I wasn't brainwashed." Looking calm as I looked sincere into Darkwood's forest green eyes. "Dante Knight kidnapped me in order to find out who was Ky Severs's mate. He needed my mind to be clear and conscious in order for him to get the answers that he wanted. The last thing he'd do is fill my head with lies. He focused on breaking my spirit, not my mind." I reached into the vanilla folder again, pulling out two reports that differed in thickness. "But since you already don't believe my words anyway. Here is a report of my Neuro scan and how the unbiased neurologist analyzed that I had no abnormal brain activity. Nor fields that weren't or were in use before I got kidnapped. Of course which he compared to previous Neuro scans that were taken when I became Ky Severs Beta." I slid the smallest of the two reports to Darkwood first. "And here are the combined reports of a psychologist and a therapist that concluded that there was no sign of lost memory or mind control. Stating that my mind was "mine and mine alone". Their credentials are on the beginning of each of their analysis so you could see that these two individuals are highly rewarded and are the best in their field." I slid the thicker packet towards Darkwood again. His hand clasping that one as he passed the other report to Alpha Whitewater. Letting her get a little of the action as well as her keen eyes left no fact unturned. "The Eclipse Pack knows how to find traitors. Even thee unconscious ones." I concluded, the collective of the Alphas all looking up at me and then looking at chairmen Alpha Severs. Who nodded in agreement that he knew about the reports and even shared that he was the one who made the appointments for me.
"Look..." I said. Placing my hands flat on the table as all seven Alphas looked at me. Their eyes sincere and open as to what I had to say. Their hands frozen on the reports that they were once rummaging through just a minute ago. "You don't know me and I don't know you. I shouldn't even be allowed to speak in front of you due to the fact that I'm just a Beta-"
"And the future Luna of the Eclipse Pack," Alpha Whitewater chimed in. Feeling Ky's mark burn up as heat slowly went to my cheeks. I coughed in order to get my composure back, brushing the blush from my face.
"Yes." I said concrete. "My point is, I know you don't have any reason to believe me, let alone trust me. But I've shown you the facts. Provided evidence and even concrete alibis of my mental state. I'm just a Beta, but I've endured immense amounts of pain to protect my pack. And now I hope I can save your lives too. You have the video, you have the reports; keep it all so you can make a concrete decision. Cancel the reunion or move it to a different location. But please, don't let anyone be in that building November 12th."
I begged, but they had left me with no answer.
