Heal
* The Picture is of Sakura *
Silence. Silence is a thing you don't want to hear in a fight. Especially when one of your own is in that fight. For once the noise stops... that's when you know... someone has won and someone has fallen. Silence... is what we heard once we came upon the meadow.
I ran passed Jason. The meadow in my sight as the feeling only grew. My heart pounding as I burst into the opening. With just one look, my heart stopped. Serena's limp white body laid on the ground. The Freight twins about to pounce on her. I growled as I jumped at the two of them. Putting my front paws in front of her body and my back paws behind her. Protecting her as I barked and snarled at the twins.
"Get out of the way Ky! This is our fight!" The older twin, Ying, spoke. The younger one, yang, standing behind his brother. Looking like... as if he had a limp.
I snapped my jaw at him. "And this is my Beta!"
"And you're on our territory." My father Spoke as he came to stand next to me. Jason on my other side as he growled and snarled at the two. They were all talk and no bite. For when my father confronted them they put their tails between their feet. Whimpering as their heads hung low.
"Ying, Yang," my father growled and their heads almost touched the ground. "You are trespassing on our territory. You were never invited and you never had my permission to fight one of my own. You are breaking two rules between our packs. Do you want to start a war!"
"No sir," they both said in unison. Their voices no longer like snakes but like a scared child's.
"Then why are you here!" My father snapped at them. Snapping his jaw at Ying. Both of them flinching back. It was at this moment I finally got a good look at the twins. Yang was, in fact, limping and there were long deep gashes covering his body. The tip of his ear almost chewed off. Ying almost had the same injuries as his brother. Except he was bleeding from his shoulder, his blood staining his grey fur. And he wasn't limping but it looked like if he distributed his weight to his back left leg it would hurt completely. Serena's injuries was another story. She was unconscious beneath me. There were three long deep gashes on Serena's back. Her right arm was broken along with her left leg. Those would take days to heal. Not to mention the amount of bruises that are hidden under her fur.
"Answer me!" My father demanded. The two flinching again.
"W-we just wanted to have some fun." Yang whimpered.
"Fun?" I said stern, bearing my teeth. Both of their eyes looking at me. "You call this fun? This ain't fun, this is murder! You almost killed my Beta! She's unconscious because of you! You're luck you two are Alpha's otherwise I would be ripping your throats out!" I shouted at them. Fighting the urge to jump on them as I buried my claws into the dirt.
"Ky-" Ying said sincerely. Taking a step forward, ready to beg for forgiveness, but my father stopped him with a bark. Making him take a step back as my father moved to stand in between me and Ying. His figure towering over the twins, looking at them with disapproving eyes.
"I suggest that you and your brother get out of my sight! And when you return home, you tell your father that I will be coming to see him soon. Do I make myself clear?"
They nodded slightly. Backing away slowly.
"I said," my father growled again. "Do I make myself clear!?"
"Y-yes sir." Yang spoke.
"Good, now get out!" He barked and they ran away. Their tails between their legs. I sighed with relief and it was at that moment I stepped off of Serena. Letting my father and Jason get a good look at her. Letting them see how badly she was hurt. Jason, held a face filled with guilt while my father showed a face with pride and pain.
"She's a strong one," my father said softly. My muzzle going down to nudge her cheek. "She's injured greatly, but looking at the other two... I knew she put up one hell of a fight. She's impressive, absolutely impressive. I'm so glad she's your Beta Ky. I-"
"This ain't the time Father. We have to get her back to the pack house." I said, interrupting my superior. A thing I was raised not to do, but it was needed. We needed to get her back.
"But how? If we can't get her to shift... how are we going to carry her back?" Jason asked, his eyes not breaking from Serena. Pure fear in his eyes.
"We're going to make her shift."
I looked at my father. Shocked by what he just said. "How?"
"You," he stated. Looking at me straight in the eyes. "You are going to tell her that she needs to shift. You are going to demand it."
"B-but she's hurt."
"And she might die if we don't get those wounds treated. This is life and death. You must demand her to shift in your voice, in your Alpha voice. No matter how much it might hurt her. You must."
I looked down at her. Her breathing was shallow, but her heart beat was strong. She could shift, but it would also put her in more pain. But if we don't get her back soon... her wounds can and will become infected. We have to do this now. I leaned down, moving my mouth right above her ear so she could hear me loud and clear.
"Shift, Serena. I command you to shift."
There was nothing. No response, no movement. No sign that she heard me. So I tried again, but this time...I yelled.
"I COMMAND YOU SERENA HAVENMOON TO SHIFT!"
There was nothing for a moment. And then... her heart beat quickened. A groan escaped her lips as she began to shift slowly. Her broken bones making a sound that was not natural. Making her scream out in pain as the fur disappeared. Her articles of clothing was partly ripped from the scratches. Bruises covering her entire body. She had a small cut on her bottom lip and on her left eyebrow. She looked like a complete and utter mess. She looked like a fighter...
"Alright, Ky kneel down." My father demanded as he picked up Serena gently between his teeth. Making sure not to hurt her anymore as I crouched on all four of my legs. Making it easy for him to put her on my back. Once she laid upon my back, her fingers curled in my fur. Holding onto me tightly. I exhaled with relief, at least she still knows to hang on.
"Alright boys, let's go."
Me and Jason both nodded in response to my father. Running after him as he led the way. Jason running behind me, making sure that I wasn't going to fast for Serena to hang on.
*
AWOOOOOOO!
My father howled. Notifying the others of our arrival as we ran through the tree line and into our back yard. Sakura and her mother, Lilian Yang, came running out of the house. With my mother not far behind. Lilian Yang was our pack healer and she was training Sakura to follow in her foot steps once she retired. We came to the back porch steps. Shifting as I held Serena bridal style in my arms. Hearing my father's foot steps behind me as my mother jumped into his arms. Jason the only one following me as I approached Sakura and her mother.
"Take her into the guest room. Everything is already set up in there."
I nodded and kicked my back door open. Walking through it as I walked down the hall and then turned left. Entering a green, bright room with a bed right in the middle of it. The bed was dressed in white sheets, almost looking like a hospital bed. A night stand with a lamp stood next to the bed. Adding more light to the already piercing light from above. A silver table filled with hospital supplies and tools on it was wheeled next to the bed. I placed Serena gently on the bed. Sakura and Lilian walked in, Sakura grabbing yawn and scissors while Lilian looked at the two of us.
"Mr.Severs, Mr.Moore," she spoke professional. Addressing me and Jason by our last names. "I have to ask you to leave now." Jason began to leave but I didn't move and inch. Staring upon Serena with fear and anger. How could they! You foolish girl! My hands became fists at my sides, feeling all eyes on me.
"Mr.Severs-"
"I want to stay with her." I stated. Making Mrs.Yang give me a look.
"Mr.Severs I must ask you to-"
"I'm not leaving!" I stated loud and clear. I wasn't going to leave her, not when she was like this.
"Mr.Severs I can't do my job until you..." Mrs.Yang's voice faded when Sakura placed her hand on her shoulder. Making the mother look at the daughter, eyes of "let me handle this" staring right back her. She nodded and allowed Sakura to speak to me, Lilian going to prepare.
"Ky," she said softly. My eyes snapping to her. Her eyes were soft and understanding. "I know you're mad and I know...that you're worried. But I will be in here and I will make sure that nothing goes wrong. I will save your Beta, we will save Serena. She is my friend, I will make sure nothing happens to her. I promise, you have my word."
I took a deep breath. Taking one more look at Serena and one more look at Sakura before I replied. "You're word right?"
"Yes," she said with an exhale.
"Bring her back," and with those final words I left. Closing the guest door behind me, letting them do their work. I rubbed my eyes and pinched my nose bridge. Trying to get rid of some of this tension in my head. I look to the right, seeing Jason leaning against a wall. Guilt and regret were in his eyes and for some reason... an anger towards him formed. I walked towards him, my face calm keeping my hands in fist as I fought the urge to yell, to scream. He looked at me, his green wolf eyes flashing as my red did the same. I stopped in front of him, crossing my arms over my chest.
"What happened tonight?" I questioned him sharply.
"What do you mean?" His voice was small and nervous.
"Don't play stupid Jason, I have a Beta getting stitched up and fixed in there! What could I possibly mean about tonight!?"
He looked at me with a stern expression. Oh, looks like Blondie grew a back bone. "We were out in the meadow. Getting to know each other, you call her and she doesn't pick up. Then I hear eight paws coming right at us. She identified them, told me that it was the Freight Twins. We shifted and she commanded me to go. Of course we debated that for a while, but since she does out rank me, I had to go. And besides she had a good point."
"What point was that?" I growled. My whole body tensing as I try to contain my anger.
"That she didn't know where the pack house was." He paused. Shoving his hands in his jean pockets. Giving me a look that was unreadable. "So between the two of us, I had to go...and she had to stay. I ran and came to get you. And from there I think you know the rest of the story."
"Why were you guys in the meadow?"
"I told you, to get to know each other."
"I know that, but how did you get there?" I asked stern.
"I met her at the gym, asked if she wanted to go out to dinner with me and she said yes. After that we went to the meadow and we shared things about each other."
I tensed once he said that they went out to dinner together. What else did they do besides talk? Kiss?!?! Wait, wait, hold up. Why the fuck do I care!? She's just my Beta, if she wants to go out with Jason, let her! It has nothing to do with me, it doesn't matter to me at all. ...Right?
"I see... very well then. That will be all, you better get going. You're mother is probably worried sick about you." I replied emotionless. Turning my back to him as I began to walk off.
"I like her you know. Serena, I like her." He stated as he popped off the wall. Standing proudly behind me as I felt his eyes bury into my back. His words making me stop and my whole body tense. "I would like to see if she would be my girlfriend, maybe see if she's my mate. That's...not going to be a problem. Is it?" He smirked. Seeing how tense I get whenever he spoke her name. I could have punched him, but I had no right to. I don't care for her, do I? I shook off the tenseness and put on a smile. Slowly looking over my shoulder as I spoke in a calm and nonchalant tone.
"No, not a problem at all." I walked off after that. Feeling his smirk with every step I took.
Fucking Blondie.
*
My knuckles tapped the door softly. Standing there as I waited for an answer. Lilian had already gone home, but she told me that Sakura would answer any questions I needed to know. Jason was already gone, thank god, the last thing I needed was to punch a Beta when I already have one down. I knocked again, getting a little impatient.
"Come in." Sakura said softly through the door. Taking the invitation I opened the door. Walking in the room as I saw Sakura patting Serena's forehead with a wet wash cloth. Serena's broken arm was placed in a sling as it laid above the covers. She had a black eye and I few more bruises on her forehead and chin. Her neck and the top of her shoulders looked fine. The rest of her body being covered in the blankets. I closed the door behind me. The room warm and silent as I watch Sakura with careful eyes.
"How is she?"
Sakura stopped patting her forehead and looked at me. Straightening up as she sighed and took a moment before she spoke. "Um... Her right arm is broken, along with her left leg. All her scratches and wounds have been cleaned and stitched up. Fortunately she's not in a coma, she only passed out from all the pain. So she would wake up around tomorrow afternoon and um...it will take about 10 to 15 days tops for her body to heal completely. She needs maximum bed rest and we can't move here. So do you mind keeping her-"
"Of course not. She's going to stay here as long as it takes for her to heal. No matter how much she hates it." I chuckled softly. Walking over to stand next to the bed. Sakura on the other side. My eyes scanning every inch of Serena's face. You really are a fool, a brave amazing fool.
"Well I was planning to stay the night and monitor her. See how she-"
"I'll stay the night with her." I stated, stopping Sakura in mid sentence. Making her look at me as my eyes remained on Serena. My hand brushing over the white covers slowly.
"What?" Sakura asked again. Doing a double take.
"I'll stay with her." I looked at Sakura as she looked at me with shock. I gave her one of my "duh/you okay looks?". She soon snapped out of her phase or mind I think and continued to speak.
"You sure? I can stay-"
"Sakura," my voice was soft when I cut her off. "Look at you, you're tired, worn out. You've done enough today and I thank you for that. But for now...YOU are the one who needs some rest. Please, go home, pass out on your bed and come check up on her in the morning. I'll look after her, I promise."
She hesitated, contemplating, debating. Opening and closing her mouth for a few seconds as she tried to pick the right words to say. Fortunately she found them and with an exhale she said, "alright. But if anything, if anything happens at all you call me."
"Yes ma'am."
"Promise?"
I rolled my eyes, "I promise. Now go! Get some sleep!"
"Okay, okay I'm going." She said with a laugh. Putting her hands up in surrender as she walked out the room. Closing the door behind her slowly before she left. I walked to the other side of the bed, the side of the room where a recliner sat. I grabbed the chair and pulled it so it faced the bed. Sitting down as my elbows leaned on the soft cushion. My elbows slightly sinking into the mattress from the little pressure they gave. I stared at her and thought... what would have happened if I treated her with the respect she deserved?
* play the video and imagine Ky looking at Serena with a pained look.*
My fingers glided down her covered arm in order to find her hand. Wrapping my fingers around it as I felt it through the covers. Scanning her face long and soft, imprinting her face in my mind. What would have happened if I had just apologized? Would you have been with me tonight? Yeah, we would have had a territory problem...but at least you would be safe. I sighed, I do think what you did was foolish and stupid... but I also say it was brave. Impressive even. You are, indeed, one tough cookie. My thumb stroked softly along her bony knuckles. Feeling every perfectly sculptured knuckle slowly. The more I looked at her... the more my heart sank. You would have been safe. If I wasn't so...if I wasn't so stupid and just stood up to Rachel... none of this wouldn't have happened. You wouldn't have gotten hurt, you wouldn't have gone to that gym. You wouldn't have gone with Jason......would you? I looked down, holding her covered hand tightly.
"I'm sorry Serena. I'm so so sorry." I mind linked her. Hoping she will be able to hear me.
* Serena's P.O.V *
Rays of sun peeked through the window, shining on my eyes. Waking me up as my eyes fluttered open. I was in a room that I didn't know, making my heart pound out of control do to fear. Was I captured by the Alpha's?! Will I be tortured?! My eyes looked around the room frantically. My heart was jumping, but...it calmed when my eyes looked upon a familiar face. It was Ky...fast asleep as his head laid on the side of the bed. His back bowed as he sat in a chair, leaning so he was comfortable. His hand was loose on top of mine. My eyes scanned his peaceful face. He...he was something else. He was more than just handsome and he was beyond charming. He was indeed hot, but that wasn't the word that defined Ky Severs completely. Ky Severs was a word that didn't exist. He was more than just charming, more than just hot. If you tried to explain him completely in the words that do exist...you would need to write a book.
I began to sit up. A groan escaping my lips as a wave of pain washed through me. Okay, maybe I shouldn't do that. I laid back down, assessing my injuries. Figuring out what I could move and what I could not. My head fell back in the pillow after I analyzed all my injuries. You really are beaten up girly, I said to myself. I took a peek at Ky as he was still fast asleep. His eyelashes brushing his cheeks slightly. I slowly moved my hand that laid under his. Putting it above the covers as I slowly reached for him. My fingers running through his hair slowly. His breath hitched once my fingers entered his hair. I stopped, thinking I woke him up. Fortunately he relaxed soon after, his lips parted as I kept running my fingers through his brown locks. They... were unbelievably soft, I didn't want to stop running my fingers through his hair. I wanted to do it all day, just lay here and stroke his head. Unfortunately I got scared once I heard the door being opened. Ripping my hand away quickly as I laid it against my stomach.
"Good morning sunshine." Sakura said cheerfully as she poked her head in.
I chuckled. Thank god I pulled my hand away in time. "What's up doc?"
She laughed as she shoved her hands in her pockets. "I should be asking you that. How do you feel?" She asked as she walked to the side of the bed that Ky was not on. Putting her hand against my forehead, seeing if I felt warm or not.
"Mentally, I feel fine. Physically, there's a whole lot of pain."
"That's right," she said softly. Putting two fingers on my neck. Looking at her watch to see how fast my pulse was. "You unfortunately have a broken arm and leg. A whole lot of bruises and cuts that needed stitching." She took her fingers off my neck. Grabbing a clip board as she clicked a pen. Her hand moving as she scribbled the pen on the paper. "The good part is that you have no broken ribs, hips, or any internal bleeding/injuries. My verdict is 10 to 15 days of bed rest and very little movement. You need to give your body time to heal itself. Me or my mother will come check on you every hour on the hour. I know I'm being harsh, but I want to keep this professional and in order to do that I must not socialize. Which means I must go and I will see you in a hour. Farewell." She finished, heading towards the door as her hands were shoved in her pockets. The clipboard in her arms as the pen was attached to it.
"Sakura," I said, making her stop. Her head hanging low. She was silent before she picked her head back up. Taking a deep breath as she then looked at me. Blinking back the tears as she stood at the foot of my bed.
"Thank you... for fixing me."
She was fighting the tears more now. Holding back a sob as she looked at me with hurt eyes. "What you did...was stupid. You could have just ran and reported the incident to Alpha Cain."
I smirked, "where's the fun in that?"
She rolled her eyes and chuckled. The chuckle that hides pain. "You really are something Serena."
I laughed, "oh. You don't mean that."
"I do, you are something I've never seen before. You took on two Alphas and didn't fall into a coma. You were even able to lay a paw on them. You're the first Beta whose ever done that. And... I also have to thank you."
I gave her a look. "For what?"
"For...for making Jason go. For protecting him. You knew that he wouldn't stand a chance...so you send him away. You sacrificed yourself in order to save him. And for that...I thank you."
"Sakura... do you like-"
"You know he was here all night." She said cutting me off. Trying to make sure her secret was safe. "Ky, I mean. He stayed here all night, watching over you. You should have seen the look on his face Serena. It was like someone was tearing him apart. He cares about you...more than you think. I just think you should know that."
She walked out after that. Ky sleeping through the whole thing.
