Chapter 3

“Who’s here?” I ask.

“The murderer.” The kid from before who I learnt was named Damien.

“What?” I ask getting scared and sitting on the bed.

“It’s okay Jason is going to take care of it.” Damien reassures me.

“No! He is going to get hurt!” I scream.

“No, he isn’t. He’s very strong.” Damien says as he wraps his arm around me and puts my face into his chest.

After thirty minutes and Jason hasn’t come back I begin to worry. Damien continues to reassure me but, I know something is up. I decide to make a plan to leave. After another 30 minutes I have come up with a plan to get out and find Jason.

“Damien.” I say.

“Hmm?” He asks.

“Can you go get me a drink and some dinner.” I say, “I am truly hungry.”

“Okay, I will be back.” Damien says and I smile.

Step one complete.

Damien leaves the room and I walk to the window. I look down and it looks about 7 or 8 feet. Oh this is gonna hurt.

I jump down and instantly wince with the pain coming from my right foot. Oh god!

I look at it as it turns purple and inflames. Oh that hurts. I attempt to walk but fall in pain. Okay new plan. Crawl for a bit.

I crawl through the bushes and onto the main streets of the village square. I crawl to the water fountain and put my foot on my knee as I wince in pain. Okay gotta wrap it somehow. I look around to see an old home. One that hasn’t been lived in since before my time. I crawl through the nonexistent door and into the dust covered living room. I noticed some old tattered curtain. I tear the fabric from the rod and wrap it tightly around my foot. I tie it at the top in a small knot.

CREEEEAAK

I turn around in a panic to see....

Jason *POV*

“YOU WHAT?!” I scream at my soon to be beta Damien.

“I lost her, we were cuddling on the-” I push Damien up against the wall.

“You cuddled with my mate! What the hell!” I growl loudly at him slamming him on the wall. 

“No, she was scared. I was only comforting her.” Damien says gasping for air.

“She is my mate, beta and you will not cuddle with her under any circumstances to I make myself clear.” I growl in his face.

“Yes, sir.” He nods his head quickly and I drop his collar.

“How did she escape?” I ask calming myself.

“She jumped from the window when I went to make her dinner.” He said.

“She jumped! Damn it! She probably hurt herself! You idiot!” I growl.

“She was going to find you. I think.” Damien says quietly.

“You need to leave.” I said.

“What?” He asks.

“I am taking a team of wolves to find her.” I say.

“I will-”

“No, you will not. I will not allow my beta to cause anymore damage.” I say and leave the house.

‘I need a team of wolves searching the village. Your future Luna is missing.’ I alert the male wolves of my pack through mind link.

Not a minute later does the first wolf show at my side. I shift and we begin our search for my lost mate.

After 30 minutes of following her scent I catch onto it. I look towards the old house from one of our many Alpha’s a long time ago. I bolt in with two other wolves and look around.

She was here. Her scent is strong. I sniff around until I see a body curled up into a corner.

“Emma!” I scream and run towards the body.

I look at her small body all bunched up and nudge her.

“Please, Jase, don’t leave me.” Her weak voice begs.

“I won’t,” I say as one of the wolves that follows me in hands me some boxers and pants.

I nod and he leaves. I shift and put on the boxers and pants. I watch as my mate shields her eyes from what she might see.

I pick her up so her legs wrap around my waist.

“You’ll be okay.” I say as I walk out with her.

Emma *POV*

“No, I won’t.” I say.

*Flashback*

I turned around in a panic to see a tall man come out of the shadows. He had a black fringe that covered his right eye. He was shirtless with many tattoos everywhere. He steps towards me and I step back.

“So your Jason’s mate.” He chuckles darkly.

“Y-yea, what do you want?” I ask terrified.

“Tell your mate that, on the next blue moon you will be my target. Until then one pack member will die a night.” He growls.

I stand back shocked that the murderer of all those people was standing in front of me.

“That’s in 10 days.” I state.

“Yes, look who payed attention in math class.” He winks.

“I will make it so he has as much pain as possible during your death.” He growls.

“Why are you doing this.” I ask.

“Your mate murdered my mate. He fucking murdered the love of my life! So, I will wreck everything he loves!” He screams, “His father’s mate will go first then his father and finally, you, but I will do what ever I can to make you suffer!”

“Why me?” I cry out.

“Once you are hurt, your mate is hurt.” And with that he leaves.

“Don’t say that, you know I will protect you.” He says.

“He’s gonna kill our parent Jason! In the end he will kill me! I have 10 days to live!” I scream.

“What do you mean?” He asks.

I explain to him what happened when I got there and he cuts me off after I say, ‘I came here to wrap my foot.'

“Are you okay?” He asks and picks my foot up gently.

“N-No, It hurts.” I say, wincing when he moves it.

“Come, I am bringing you to the doctor.” He says, “Finish your story on the way there.”

I nod as he lifts me up and brings me down the dark, dimly lit street. I finish my story and Jason stops.

“He can’t do this! Your my mate! He can’t hurt you!” He screams.

“Jason.” I say caressing his face and he looks at me.

“I don’t want you to have to go through any pain.” He says.

“Everything will be okay.” I reassure him and myself.

He kisses my lips in a short loving kiss as he brings us into the doctors office.

“Who’s this?” The tall man with salt and pepper hair colored hair asks.

“This is Emma, she hurt her foot.” Jason says.

“I see that, come along, we will x ray it.” He says and we walk past multiple rooms. I gasp as we pass one with a 13 year old girl with a gouge in the side of her face. Right now she is getting it bandaged as tears leave her one eye.

“Don’t look baby,” Jason says as he bring me to my room.

“What happened?” I ask as my voice cracks.

“We caught him in the act, before he came to you.” Jason says.

I put my face into his shoulder as he carries me into what must be the x-ray room. He lays me down on the cold, metallic surface and I reach for his hand.

“I can’t stay, I will be right behind that protective wall.” He points and I nod.

The doctor places a large, heavy sheet on top of my breasts and lower region.

“What is this?” I ask.

“It’s a lead sheet to protect your area’s from the radiation.” He explains and I nod. He walks to where Jason is and shuts the door. A noise goes off and I look at Jason. He just nods reassuringly towards me as another noise goes off. The doctor comes out and continues the x-ray examination.

“It’s not fractured, but, you have sprained it. Your ankle should be feeling better in a week to 10 days.” He says.

“A week to 10 days!” I yell.

“Yea, but you’ll be walking fine by tomorrow. You’ll just feel some pain for a week to 10 days. Your not going to be able to shift though. You wouldn’t want to disrupt the bone or you possibly will fracture it.” He says and I just stare at him in disbelief. I need my WOLF!
