Chapter 3 - Case i
It had been a feat, but Jackson, Yugyeom and you had managed to drag the flailing boy down the few flights of stairs beneath the facility and managed to bring the boy into a locked down room and safely tie him to a chair in one of the special exorcising rooms that were littered with candles, ropes and incantations all over the walls.
The basement was like another floor of the building, only one without windows. So naturally it was always cold down there, and dark from the unnatural light. That unnerved you, not to have any windows nearby, a feeling a claustrophobia enveloping you. You should be ok with it, you thought, as long as you weren't down there too long.
He seemed to have calmed down slightly, but Jungkook still wretched and tugged in his ropes.
Jungkook... No, not Jungkook. The other one.
You still could get that haunting image out of your head. Those dreadful black eyes... You shivered, as if they were still staring at you, through you. You didn't want to see that again, the job hadn't been finished however.
The three of you had left the ominous room to gather some items and objects needed for the exorcism, Jackson staying just outside of the room in case Jungkook broke free.
You were off, and both Yugyeom and Jackson noticed quite clearly. Your foot tapped continuously and you kept scratching the invisible itches on your arms.
You weren't ok.
There was something that had entangled you in its dark grip and had started to squeeze the only bit of rationality you had a hold of.
Those eyes shook something within you.
"(Y/n) are you sure you're up for this?" Yugyeom asked worrying lacing his words once you returned from Bang's office with a large old looking book that had lost much of its hue over the years.
Doubt and a peak of fear began to cloud your head. This was the first time you had led an exorcism. You had shadowed others the last few times but this time, you were on your own. Well, not entirely alone. You would have Jackson and Yugyeom in the room with you, making sure nothing went wrong.
Even so, something about this didn't sit right in your stomach.
More over, you were worried about Jungkook. You were worried about how this would affect him in the long run. There had been cases in the past when the victim had been exorcised and taken into the recovery wing, yet even when months turned into years, they wouldn't get any better, worse even. Fear would corrupt them and their hallucinations would increase until finally they went crazy. Mr Bang would feel like he had let those ones down when that happened. They would be shipped off to a mental hospital, even though the boss man knew they were too far gone. He would put them out of their misery if he could, but obviously, murder was illegal.
You wanted to speak with the real Jungkook, give him courage, before you went through with this, but you would have to send him your courage in your heart because once in that room, you would have to begin there and then.
With a deep breath, you gave Yugyeom a weak smile. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
The youngest male didn't seem too convinced with your words, his lips upturned into a frown.
"Ok, let's do this." And with that, Yugyeom pushed open the door, and allowed you to step in first, then the other two followed.
You felt as if the room itself would swallow you whole, like a giant black hole of a mouth, that had invisible teeth.
Dangerous
Threat
Leave
Run
Jungkook's form was slouched over motionless in the chair, his limbs bound refusing him the right to move. If you didn't know any better you would have thought he was dead, and if it weren't for the laboured breaths he was forcing out of his chest.
You struggled to approach him, your body rooted to the ground. You couldn't show an ounce of fear, otherwise he would have the upper hand. Using your fear against you was one of their main weapons.
You forced yourself to move and put one foot in front of the other. You wouldn't let this 'thing' get the best of you and you didn't have to worry as you had both Jackson and Yugyeom at your back, so you weren't sure where this uncertain fear was originating from. You had assisted in an exorcism before, being led by Mr Bang.
Upon your approach Jungkook twitched, raising his head a little. He watched you like a predator from beneath his dark tresses. You were a meal to him. Something to toy with before he gobbled you down in one go.
"Do you know what's about to happen?" You asked the boy in front of you calmly, trying to hide that little ounce of fear.
A wry smirk spread across his lips and he lifted his head up and gave it a slow roll to the side, causing a few cracks to be heard. You stared at him, tight lipped. He stared back.
"Of course I do, sweetheart."
You swallowed thickly and glared at the nickname and you noticed how his eyes watched your throat bob from the action. "You're going to tear me out of this body, and send me straight to hell right?" He scoffed. "You can, but there'll be no guarantee that he will come out of this unaffected by this ' oh so damaging' experience."
What?
Your brows knitted together. You were just about to ask him what he meant when you felt a hand touch your shoulder.
"Don't prolong this out, don't let him get into your head either. Lets get it over and done with." Jackson urged, eyeing the male in the centre of the room.
Be strong Jungkook. You shouted out to him mentally, hoping that some how, your voiceless words would reach him.
Jackson didn't like the way he stared at you, not one bit. He regarded the sick kind of fascination that swirled around in the possessed being's dark orbs, it made him feel sick with worry for you. He felt like an older brother, having a need to protect from this evil entity.
You nodded in agreement and opened up the old heavy book you had been cradling in your arms.
Without anymore hesitations or drawbacks, you opened the ancient tome to the expelling chapter and began to read from the book's yellow pages in a foreign language.
The words were very familiar to you, as you had listened to Shihyuk Bang them countless times. You weren't even entirely sure what all of them meant, but as the candles flared it told you that it didn't matter and only that the incantation was working.
Jungkook at first showed no sign of reaction to the ancient words that spilled from your lips, but as you went on you noticed his eyes flicker and his head twitch in uncomfortable places and his lip curl into a sneer. Although the reaction gave you a small amount of satisfaction, there was an equal amount of guilt that settled itself within you.
Jungkook was in pain, this was hurting him. You were hurting him. You were literally tearing something out of his body that had attached itself to his soul. It couldn't be pleasant.
You almost stopped in concern for Jungkook, but you urged yourself to carry on, to get it over with.
As you went on, Jungkook began to convulse and trash, it made your heart reach out to the boy. However the ancient foreign words were working like a charm and the room as dim as it already was grew darker. Minuscule wisps of black dust like particles began to pour and fly from Jungkook's mouth, ears and eyes, disappearing soon after.
"Its working, keep going (Y/n)!" Jackson encouraged from behind you.
Jungkook began to cry and wail like a banshee making you wince at the sneer pitch of his voice. It merged with a darker, deeper voice that wasn't his own.
Finally the malevolent spirit had been torn from Jungkook's soul and body, but not before scraping out a few last words, that it seemed only you could hear, inside your head.
"So perhaps you aren't just the little girl I thought you to be."
You ignored it, shook your head to rid yourself of the scratching voice. You could see the smirk on his face as he finished with,
"Talented and brave, and beautiful, just like your mother."
You froze in your spot.
With that, just like a an engine burning out and erupting black sooty clouds, the evil being burst out from Jungkook's eyes and mouth, vanishing into thin air and like opening the curtains in the morning the room lit up, back to its original lighting.
It was done. Finished. The relief hit you like a tidal wave causing you to collapse and the lights of the candles blurred as your vision closed off.
How are you guys liking it so far???-Rikki
