Chapter 2 - the search continues

I looked at my dorm room wall which to be honest looked like a scene out of a police station bulletin board. Full of quotes from the journal, photos from online of unknown things from the journal- all intertwined with twine from piece to piece. Yet here I stood - no closer to my mothers discovery.

I looked at each piece; observing them precisely. Just incase I missed anything for the hundredth time whilst observing the board - today alone.

I suddenly felt my pocket vibrate on my hoodie and fumbled around with the pocket that was full of rubbish in order to get to my phone which was somewhere in the oblivion of paper.

I eventually found it and quickly answered the phone. Not even observing the caller ID as I picked up.

"Hello?" I asked through the phone as I observed the wall yet again.

"Hey girllllllllll!" I instantly recognised the chipper voice to be my college friend.

We usually met up for coffee and did some assignments that the teacher gave us. She was obviously in my same classes in order to take notes and we chatted sometimes.

"Hey Gwen!" I said happily. Whilst having my eyes glued to the wall still.

"Are you coming to the coffee shop today?" she asked.

I sighed through the phone, "well I was thinking of going to the library for a quick study."

I heard a tut through the phone, "you need to stop with the library girl! Your already ahead. It's not like you need to catch up on anything. "

That was true. I didn't need to catch up with anything - but I spent my time in the library wisely. By that I mean I spent the time looking for more information into where my mother could be. Or I used the library as an excuse to stay in my dorm but this time I needed to head to the library to do some more research because my last trip has now lead to a dead end. So she's definitely not in the Bahamas...

I quickly put a large cross through everything that linked up to the Bahamas. And sighed, "i wish I could Gwen but I'm busy right now sorting stuff out."

"What sort of stuff?" Gwen asked curiously.

I thought about it for a moment, "about my heritage. My family. I need to know - I just have to Gwen."

It was the truth - I was trying to find my mother.

I heard Gwen sigh from the other end of the phone, " I don't want you to get disappointed Liz." Gwen said in a concerned tone.

I looked at the wall again. I can't - NO - I won't give up!

"Well I gotta go Gwen. Love ya!" I quickly said before hanging up.

I looked at all the red X's on the wall and sighed again. These all lead to dead ends - there was nothing more that I could do. But I wouldn't give up - I needed to know more; I wanted to know more.

So with that thought at mind - I quickly grabbed my worn backpack and slung it over my shoulder - which carried all my college books And took the journal into my hands as I swiftly moved out of my college dorm.

The campus today was alive with students and they were buzzing around the place, either going to class or chilling with mates out in the open as it was fairly hot today.

For me though, chilling with mates wasn't an option I wanted to take. I couldn't.

So I quickened my rush to the library and walked past the librarian with a small smile of acknowledgement. Before rushing past and walking down multiple isles.

I looked through the journal for any hints on what to look out for again and looked back at the shelves.

I was now looking at a quote that said about her supposed love for the ocean so I decided to find something about the ocean. Maybe she's in the middle of the Atlantic? Indian Ocean? I don't know.

As I made my way towards the end of the isle I bumped into a figure - sending myself and the books I was currently holding - go flying.

To my surprise I never truly made an impact with the floor as the figure managed to catch me on my decent down. I looked at the face of the person I had bumped into and saw his features.

Jet black hair which was combed back neatly, a sharp jawline which was extremely defined, the slight stubble on him, plump lips, arched eyebrows and finally those obsidian eyes.

They looked something that reminded me of lifeless. They were bizarre but at the same time truly mesmerizing.

The guy stood me back onto my own two feet and still clung to my waist. The closeness of his body made me blush and the thought of the books had completely left my mind.... Until that very second.

"Im sorry." I embarrassedly said whilst pulling away from the guy to retrieve my books.

The guy dropped his hands from my waist and I quickly scurried to collect the books back up which were scattered all over the floor. I finally picked the last book up but realised then that I didn't have my journal.

Where on earth did it go?!

I kept thinking to myself. I twirled around in circles trying to think and look for where it could be. My thoughts were then interrupted by the guy clearing his throat.

I looked at him and in his hands was my mothers journal. Which was extended out by his hands.

"Is this what your looking for?" he asked in his mysterious, husky voice.

I looked at him and at my mothers journal then back to him and then stammered on my words, "y-yes"

He gave me a boyish smile and placed the journal on top of my already large pile of books. He then stood besides me and pulled out an old looking book from behind him and placed it also on top of the pile of books, "you may find this to be of interest." he mysteriously commented.

As he then walked away he continued by saying, "you should also look out for where your going, love."

He then vanished around the corner.

What a strange guy?

----------------------------------------

I stood up defensively from my throne and darted daggers at Zeus, "What does my EX-HUSBAND want now?!" I seethed.

Zeus looked at me with narrowed eyes, "to me he is your husband. Dear sister. Also he asked me to pass a message on."

I folded my arms together and gave him a glare, "stop stalling Zeus! What does he want NOW?!"

Zeus looked me dead in the eye, "he wants to know - dear sister - if it was in fact true that you conceived a child of his?"

I shook my head violently, "how dare he think so?!"

I looked at Zeus with pure anger, "i had no child of his. Nor in fact did I have ANY CHILD!"

Zeus rolled his eyes at me, "Nadine.... Please tell me. Everyone noticed in the palace a progressive bump."

I screamed at Zeus this time, "I WAS GETTING FAT OKAY?! IS THAT SO WRONG?!" I then glared at Zeus and pointed an accusing finger at him, " fat shaming is no joke Zeus! I'm personally offended. "

Zeus took a step back from me and held up his hands in surrender, "okay dear sister. I'm sorry."

I folded my arms again and glared at him. Why is Poseidon so interested in a child anyway?

"Also if in fact I did have a child he wouldn't have any right to know about it. It is none of his concern." I stated.

Zeus shook his head, "he still loves you Nadine. I wish you'd see that still. He still cares about you and that's why he wants to know."

I glared at Zeus again, "well if he loved me so much then why the hell did he go and cheat with the goddess of love!"

Zeus looked me dead in the eye, "the goddess did that on her own terms. She's had a thing for Poseidon for a while now-"

I had cut him off, "SO THAT MAKES IT OKAY?! just because she liked him he was allowed to sleep with her?!"

Zeus face palmed his hand and groaned out, "he never did it on purpose dear sister. He was under a love spell. He went to her in the first place after you both had your big fight to seek advice and in the end she put him under a spell"

I looked at him with anger, "he is still my EX-husband Zeus. What he did no longer matters - what is happening now does not concern him at ALL!!" I remarked.

Zeus sighed, "please dear sister. Please go back to my brother - he dearly misses you."

"Well he should have thought about that before cheating! Or even trying to find an easy way out in the first place!" I seethed.

Zeus looked at me in defeat, "im never doing this again. He will do this next time - your just too much dear sister. Anyway I've done my part so till next time dear sister." Zeus said before vanishing into another of his signature lightning bolts.

I quickly left the throne room in rage and quickly made my way out of the fire place and out of my abode and through the bright castle.

"Dear, where are you in a hurry to?" my mother called out.

I looked towards my mother with a small smile, "im just gonna look over her again."

My mother sighed before bringing me into a hug, "I know she's your child and all but why do you insist on keeping her there?" she asked muffled by my hair.

I sighed - breathing in my mothers calming presence, "i don't want her in this life. She'll be miserable just as I was. "

My mother pulled back from me with concern etched into her withering features, "its not that bad is it. I mean she belongs here after all."

My mother is the only other living soul in any world to know of my childs existence. She being human, me being part human meant that the gods had a harder time reading us as we weren't fully them.

My mothers title - even though human - she was the queen of the angels and my father - being immortal and was the next in line for the throne is the King of the angels. They are what you call god-like and as the daughter of both I inherited both their genes which meant being part human and part angel. And that part human side of me prevented any god or god alike to read my mind.

I looked at my mother with a saddened look, "she doesn't mother. A mother knows. And I know whats best."

She soothed me by rubbing my shoulders, "i know how that feels baby."

She then held me at arms length, "it would be nice to see my granddaughter again." my mother spoke which I gave a gleaming smile to and we both scurried off down the corridor to the mystical ball room.
