Mackenna's point of view :
I remember the day I reached 10,000,000 subscribers on YouTube. June 2nd 2015. It was the greatest day of my life. But not for that reason, although it was the best accomplishment of my whole entire life.
It was the day that would forever change everything. Justin Bieber's publicist called me and asked me if I would attend a meeting with him, Justin and his manager. Of course I agreed, although I didn't know what in the hell it was going to be about. Also, it was a little odd he had my number, but I tried to push that thought aside.
Turns out, I got to pretend to be Justin's girlfriend for 1,000 dollars a day for three months.
The moment I walked into the lobby of the office building, my heart started beating out of my chest, and I could hear the thumps pulsing throughout my body.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His publicist met me down and the lobby and greeted my with a hug, saying he was a big fan of me and my videos. I thanked him, and smiled. It was the polite thing to do, although on the inside I was screaming.
Oh yeah, his name is John by the way.
We went into the elevator, going up 21 stories to the top floor. A left, and a right down the dark hallways and I reached the room. John opened the door and let me in.
The view was incredible. It was around 7:00 in the evening, and in California, that's just when the sun starts to set. The sky reminded me of cotton candy. Blues, purples, pinks and oranges all swirled into this giant masterpiece. Because we were so high, you could see everything. Hills in the distance, the Hollywood sign, other beautiful houses and buildings. It was the most spectacular real-life scenery I've seen in my 19 years of life.
But nothing compared to him. When I turned my head and saw Justin sitting in the chair playing on his phone, I swear in that moment I could tell this boy was going to mess me up. He noticed me stepping into the room and looked up, smiling.
Justin was stunning in pictures, yet in person he was like a walking piece of art.
"Hey Mackenna, I watch some of your videos. You're hilarious," Justin said, getting up to give me a hug.
"I appreciate that, thank you," I decided to take a seat next to him, considering there were only three chairs around the small circular table.
His manager was standing behind him, and there were body guards standing around the table. John sat down next to me and folded his hands a over the table.
Not going to lie, I felt fairly awkward sitting sound this small table with one of the most talked about people on this earth, and an old publicist who kept looking at my boobs.
"Okay, let's get right to it," John said with a sigh, turning towards me. "I had an idea, and it's totally okay if you disagree, but I want to go over all the pros and cons with you before you turn down the idea..."
Basically, John wanted me to pretend to be Justin's girlfriend for three months, getting paid 1,000 dollars a day. At first I was taken back at the idea, confused why this would do either of us any good, but it really is a great idea
Me and Justin would both me relevant and talked about by everyone, and it will help me gain my fan base and subscribers. We will be on every magazine cover and all celebrity news channels will be talking about us. Also, Justin is going through some rebellious stage John said, peeing in mop buckets and getting arrested, so if they think he has a sweet new girlfriend as he's acting nicely, people might start to see him with a different perspective.
"The only down side is that, we can't really talk or make any connection besides the kissing and hugging in front of buildings and at red carpets and stuff. It would just be too risky," Justin continued, "Then sometime in September we can breakup and never have to talk to each other again. Strictly business."
I really hoped he couldn't see the slight look of disappointment in my face. I mean I would love to gain a fan base and show affection to Justin, but I didn't want it to be because of business. Now that I think of it, I have no idea who this person really is, so it wouldn't make sense to say that anyways, aha.
I agreed.
"That's great, fantastic! You guys can get started today, how about that? I'll text you both current events that you will need to be together for, and the SUV will pick you up, starting today, if that's okay with you Mackenna..?" John asked, standing up.
"This is kind of sketchy, not even going to lie to you guys, but sure. I hope you're not lying about the money and stuff because I can't afford to spend a bunch of time for nothing," I sighed, and stood up to fix my jeans and get ready to leave.
John handed me 1000 dollars in all hundreds, and my eyes went wide. Justin chuckled a little, "Never seen a thousand dollars before?"
I laughed, and my cheeks flushed pink. "In my bank account yeah, but not in cash.."
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention," John said, "If you guys break the strict 'only business' rule, you'll never be able to communicate to each other again, because Justin doesn't need that in his life right now, he's focusing on an album."
My smile faded, and I just nodded slightly. John clapped his hands together. "Alrighty then! Get your hands intertwined and walk out of this building into all of the fans and people with cameras into the SUV!"
Justin stood up and held his hand out, and I took it, probably a lot quicker than I should have. We said nothing the whole way outside, and everyone was going nuts. I mean, I've had bad experiences at VidCon and things like that, but nothing like this. I felt like I was clinging on to the body guard for dear life...
