"I'm leaving!" I yelled, grabbing my bag and unlocking the door.
"No! I'm almost done, wait up," Blue said, taking a last spoonful of yogurt.
She ran up to me, a smile on her face.
"You have a yogurt mustache." I laughed, pointing at her upper lip. She licked it off and I just rolled my eyes playfully.
We made our way out to the street and called for a cab as we usually would every morning. After a couple of minutes, one finally stopped for us. We stepped inside the yellow vehicle and then drove off.
"I hope today's better," I said, trying to maintain a positive attitude. I knew being negative wasn't going to help and really, I had no choice, so I might as well just suck it up.
"From what I know, yesterday was pretty great," She said, wiggling her eyebrows at me and I gave her a look.
Blue was that friend. The type to say you're being over dramatic all the time and then insist anyone else would be blessed to be you. No, seriously. I could be getting attacked by some street dog and she'd probably say anyone who is dying to have a dog would be happy to encounter such attention and 'affection', and then tell you the dog just needed some love.
"Haha. Very funny," I said sarcastically, before looking out the window.
She laughed and then nudged me in the ribs playfully, as if letting me know she understood what I felt.
"Fine. Good luck. Just try to ignore him," She advised me, and I shook my head, letting a small smile on my face.
"I'll try," I said, and then we arrived to the building. I thanked her once more before running out of the car and waving goodbye.
As I walked in, I once again smiled at the view. I still found this place amazing. I wasn't going to let Aiden ruin this experience. This was my chance to finally do something and I wasn't going to let a dumb boy be the reason I lost it.
I looked at the clock and it was 7:50am. I was early today. Maybe I could make up for yesterday's horrible events.
I walked in and took a seat in the same spot as yesterday, noticing everyone was also sitting in the same spot they'd picked yesterday. I didn't want to deal with someone complaining about me 'taking their seat' so I just saved myself the trouble. I wasn't going to be an immature loser and sit somewhere else just because I didn't like Aiden. Call me prideful but I didn't plan on making him think I cared or was that affected by his actions.
"Hey, you're early today." I turned around and rolled my eyes playfully as my gaze set on Blake.
"Thought it would help make up for yesterday's horrible events," I told him, letting out a light laugh.
"I have to admit, your reactions were pretty hilarious." He laughed, and it was then I realized how cute Blake actually was.
I'd been too worried about having Aiden in the same class as me to actually notice Blake. I mean, we had spoken, but I wasn't really paying much attention to him, to be honest.
I laughed with him, trying to lowkey notice his good looks.
He had short, soft looking light brown hair, dark blue eyes, and had a very nice sense of style. Wearing some blue vans, jeans, and a white v-necked shirt, I was practically trying to keep my calm. He was pretty attractive.
"I probably looked like a psycho with the attitude I gave Aiden," I said, slightly embarrassed but still allowing a small smile onto my face.
"Hey, I would've been pretty annoyed too. But quite honestly, you looked cute all mad and defensive," He said, smiling a bit.
I blushed, and quickly looked away, although I'm pretty sure he noticed. How smooth of me.
Before I could say anything, Mr. Falkov spoke.
"Good morning, everyone. I know you're all working on your sculptures, but I thought today would be a good day to take a tour around the gallery. After all, I think you should all see what kind of work we expect here," He said, and everyone began to chatter.
"Alright alright, settle down. You can all pair up and walk around but I expect you back in the classroom by 8:45am. Now go on."
I smiled.
"I've been dying to take a look at this place! The entrance is already impressive enough; I can just imagine what else there is throughout the whole building," I said excitedly to Blake, who just chuckled at my overly excited self.
"I came here once a couple of years ago and it was pretty neat. I bet they've got tons of new things," He commented, a little calmer than me, but I could tell he seemed pretty excited too.
I mean, we all were. This classroom was basically a group of art geeks. How could we not be? This was one of the only places where we could actually express ourselves and not feel like like weirdoes for freaking out over it.
The whole class exited the classroom and began to roam around, going their own way.
Blake and I decided to go upstairs and my eyes widened at all the pieces of different art in the room. I didn't even expect to see all the things I was looking at; it was crazy. We stopped in front of a piece that looked like a landscape made of just soda bottle tops. They were all different colors and it was actually one of the coolest things I'd ever seen.
Suddenly, I heard Aiden's voice next to me.
"How is this art? This looks like something my five year old cousin would make," He commented, and I turned to look at him.
I scoffed and he looked at me.
"Oh, hello there, cupcake," He said, smirking at me, knowing I hated him calling me that.
"Do you even appreciate art? How'd you even get in this course in the first place?" I said, my voice hinting annoyance.
He raised his eyebrows and gave me an amused look.
"Of course I do. Just not this specific piece. I'm sure I don't have to love every single piece of art there is in this world despite the fact I'm an artist. And if you do...well, that's just unprofessional. " He began, speaking rather calmly, while I was doing my best not to explode with anger. "And as to how I got into the course, I guess you'll just have to wait and see what I can do." He winked, and I rolled my eyes.
How conceited.
"Whatever. Let's go." I said, dragging Blake along with me, who began to laugh.
"Ugh why are you laughing? He's such a butt face." I groaned.
"I just find it so funny how he puts you on the edge in a matter of .05 seconds," He explained, and I frowned.
He's right...
What the heck? I need a chill pill.
"I think you're right. I won't let him get to me anymore," I stated, and he ruffled my hair.
"Atta girl."
--
"How do you do it so fast and well?" I asked, astonished at how good Blake was at sculpting.
He shrugged.
"I don't know. I guess it just comes easy to me," He replied humbly, and I smiled.
"Well dang. You're lucky. It's not too hard for me but I sure wouldn't mind being able to do it so effortlessly," I said, taking a look at my not so amazing sculpture.
Of course, it'd look a lot better if it wasn't because I had to start over.
"Well if sculpting isn't your forte, then what is?" He asked curiously.
I bit my lip and thought about it for a second.
"I guess realistic paintings. I'm pretty good at cartoony stuff but realistic stuff is definitely my favorite and I happen to be pretty good at it so I guess it's a win-win," I said, and he looked impressed.
"You've gotta show me some techniques because although I don't suck at it, it's not my best," He admitted, and I nodded.
"We could just get together and do work on some stuff one of these days, if you want. I help you with that and you help me with sculpting," I offered, and he smiled, satisfied with my offer.
"How about today in the afternoon?" He asked.
Well I didn't expect it to be that soon. I mean, not that I'm complaining or anything but you know.
"Uhm, yeah. I usually get some coffee in the afternoons so we could do that and then go back to my apartment and paint some," I said, hoping he'd be okay with the whole coffee thing.
Truth is, I didn't want to go to the coffee shop alone if Aiden was going to be there. I wasn't not scared or anything, but I preferred making an appearance with Blake than having to deal with it on my own. At least just for the first time after my little problem with Aiden.
"That sounds great!" He said, flashing a smile at me, which I returned.
After that, we both continued our work.
Everyone else seemed to be talking, so I found the silence around me odd. Blake and I had talked enough, but I found it strange to see Aiden hadn't spoken a word since we got back from the gallery tour.
I quickly glanced at him to see if he was still alive or something.
To my disappointment, he was still there, breathing.
Okay just kidding, I don't actually want him dead. I don't hate him that much.
He was extremely concentrated on his sculpting, causing him to make this pouty squinty face that looked pretty funny and adorable at the same time.
Not that he is adorable, but I'm smart enough to know when something looks cute, okay?
A small giggle escaped my lips and I mentally cursed myself for letting it happen. He quickly turned to look at me and raised an eyebrow.
I immediately broke eye contact and looked back at my work.
"Whatcha laughin' at, cupcake?" He asked, and I tried everything in my will to hold back my smile. I'm not even sure why I wanted to smile.
"Nothing," I mumbled.
I could feel him smirking at me, and as if my face had a mind of its own, a smile made its way onto my face.
Stop smiling! What is wrong with you?
He was just making a face. For goodness' sake, stop.
"Well then what's got you smiling so much?" He asked, chuckling at my probably weird smiling outburst that I was unable to control.
"What's got you smiling so much?" I asked, and he narrowed his eyes in confusion.
He immediately started laughing at my obviously stupid question and I groaned.
Way to go smart one.
"Just do your work," He said, shaking his head.
"Uhm, don't tell me what to do. You do your work," I replied sassily, and he suddenly went completely serious. His stare was honestly intimidating.
I suddenly felt my cheeks heat up and wanted to slap myself for letting him see that. You see, I have this small problem where I blush at almost anything. Literally. A tree could drop a leaf on me and I'd probably blush at that, taking it as a sign of affection from mother nature. It was seriously a problem.
"Excuse me?" He whispered, leaning closer towards me.
I was paralyzed.
What's he doing? He needs to back away.
"I- uhm- well no-" I stuttered, sounding like a baby trying to learn how to speak.
Hello? Any brain left up there? Where you at?
Immediately, a cheeky smile spread across his face and he burst out laughing.
"Oh my goodness- Your face," He said in between laughs, and I frowned.
"You jerk." I glared at him, once again, blushing in embarrassment and narrowing my eyes at him.
"I'm sorry. It's just- ah. It was so funny. You should've seen-"
I smacked him in the shoulder.
"Hey, what was that for?"
"For being a stupid cow butt," I said, giving him a look.
"A cow bu-"
"Yes. A cow butt," I said firmly, and I heard Blake laugh.
Oh gosh. I forgot people could actually hear us.
Just as that thought crossed my mind, Mr. Falkov spoke.
"Mr. Blackwood and Ms. Love, would you care to share your conversation back there?" He asked, and I internally groaned. I embarrass myself way too much and this teacher probably officially hates me now.
Aiden smirked. Shocker.
"Well you see, June over here has taken the pleasure in calling me a co-" Aiden began.
"No! I'm sorry sir," I quickly interrupted, and the teacher just gave me a look.
"Get back to work," He said, and I nodded.
"Look what you did!" I whispered, and Aiden gave me a look.
"Me?! You're the one who started laughing at me out of nowhere!" He said defensively, and I just stared at him.
Oh true...
"Shh. Whatever. Goodbye," I said, and he just rolled his eyes playfully.
"Byee," He whispered, and we continued our sculptures.
At least we managed to not beat each other up.
--
"Hey, you could just get a ride with me if you want," Blake offered, taking into consideration the fact we were about to meet up in a little while anyways.
"Uh, yeah sure. Thanks. I'll just call my friend to let her know she doesn't need to come meet me anymore," I said and he nodded, before looking back down at his phone again.
Thankfully, I'd gotten a lot of work done today. It got pretty quiet after Aiden and I's scolding, so I was able to fix rat-looking sculpture into something that looked more like art.
I dialed Blue's number and after the third ring, I heard her voice.
"Sup?"
"Blake's giving me a ride so you don't need to come anymore."
"Blake?" She asked, her tone immediately changing from indifferent to interested, and I could practically feel her smirking.
"You'll meet him later," I said, laughing a bit, and shook my head playfully even though she couldn't see me.
"Alrighty. See ya later, loser."
"Thanks. See ya," I said, putting my phone away.
I turned around and told Blake we were all good.
"Okay cool. Shall we go get coffee first?" He asked and I nodded.
"Sounds good to me."
As we walked to the parking lot, I noticed an Audi S7.
Woah.
"Dang, that's a nice car," I said, pointing at it.
Blake smiled.
"Well lucky you because that's your ride," He said, winking at me.
"Omg no wayyyy!" I said, running over to it and taking a better look at it.
He started laughing.
"I've never seen a girl freak out like that over a car," He said, and I raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I don't know what girls you hang with, but despite the fact I don't actually know that much about cars, I know how to recognize a cool one. And this one sure is that," I stated proudly.
He walked over to my side and opened the door for me.
Ooh, gentleman.
"Hop in," He said, and I did.
Well, not hop, but you get the point.
After closing the door, he walked over to the driver's seat and we started making our way to the shop.
"Okay, just go past Times Square and then turn to the left," I said, and there we were.
I was secretly hoping Aiden wasn't there today because that'd just be awkward.
Well...no, it wouldn't have to be.
It's not like this was a date or anything.
Yup. Not a date. Just a friendly hangout.
"Huh, I've never been here before," Blake commented, but seemed to be in approval of the place.
"Yeah, I come here practically like everyday. It's my own little personal hangout," I said as we walked in.
"Well then, I'm honored," He said, and I gave him a small smile.
The coffee scent immediately reached my nostrils and Blake made an 'ah' noise, indicating the smell smelt as good as I thought it did.
"This place is so warm and cozy," He admitted.
"Very true. One of the reasons I love it," I agreed.
We took a seat in my usual corner table and ordered our drinks. After a couple of minutes of chatting, the door opened.
A certain green-eyed boy walked in and, as if it were a natural instinct, I put my jacket over my head and sunk into my seat.
Okay, not exactly normal behavior. Get a grip on yourself, will you? It's just a boy.
Yeah, a boy you're clearly trying to avoid. Either get out of here or grow a pair of ovaries and face it. Woman up.
Blake gave me a weird look but then noticed what was going on.
He lifted a magazine up to his face and whispered,
"Are we just going to hide from him the whole time?"
I smiled nervously and then let out a small laugh.
"Maybe."
