Chapter 10- Hangover Problems
After my moment with Aiden, I walked out to the living room and found Bella lying on the couch eating corn.
I must've made a face because she laughed.
"I know, you're probably thinking, 'Why is she just eating a random plain corn?' The answer is simple: I love corn and you happened to have some." She explained, as if it were the most normal thing, and after an awkward silence, I let out a laugh.
"Well, I hope you're enjoying it." I said, not really having anything else to say.
She smiled proudly.
"I am!"
About a second after, Blue and Aiden walked in the room.
"So, we were just about to play truth or dare, spin the bottle version." Bella said and I raised an eyebrow. I turned to look at Blue who was smirking.
"Are you too scared?" Aiden asked teasingly, not seeming the slightest bit annoyed like he was just a few seconds ago.
"Nope." I replied confidently and sat on the floor.
Blue went over to the kitchen to grab some alcohol and then came back and took a seat by me. Bella and Aiden joined us, finishing up the circle.
"Alright ladies and gentleman, this game is no fun if we're all sober so let's spice things up just a bit." Blue said, and while Bella seemed completely fine with it, Aiden and I exchanged nervous looks.
"I'm not sure this is a good id-"
"Oh please June. You don't have to get drunk. Just a little tipsy, that's all. You know, like the old times." She said, and I suddenly got a flashback. Last time we did this was in our junior year. Let me just say, things did not go well.
"Blue, you know what happened last time. I told you I'm not drinking again." I whispered, giving her a look.
"We'll be okay, oh my gosh. It's just us four. And we're safe here." She whispered back, not wanting Bella and Aiden to hear, and I sighed. She rolled her eyes at my discomfort and I bit my lip.
I looked at our guests, both with confused looks on their faces.
"Well?" Bella asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Alright. Let's do this." I said in defeat, realizing I had no way of backing out of this one. It surprised me how eager Blue was to do this, especially when she knew what had happened three years ago.
I hadn't actually noticed what choice of alcohol Blue had picked until she served it in our cups.
"Ew. Why would you pick rum?" I asked, scrunching my nose at the smell of the liquid inside the cup placed in my hands.
"It works pretty fast." Was all she said and I just shook my head before gulping it all down, scrunched up my face in disgust at the unpleasant taste and the burning feeling in my throat.
After we all drank our not so lovely liquid, we let a few minutes pass and Bella and Aiden decided to have a little more. I decided it wouldn't be good for me to have more than two rounds, considering I'd get drunk pretty fast since I barely ever drank.
However, I did end up getting pretty tipsy and soon enough we were all giggling at practically nothing.
"Okie, let's start!" Bella said and spun the bottle.
It landed on Blue and since I was next to her, they told me to I should ask her first.
"Truth or dare?" I asked.
She smiled widely.
"Dare!"
"I dare you to...hm...OH. I DARE YOU TO CALL BLAKE AND TELL HIM HE'S HOT." I said childishly and she looked shocked for a second, but then started laughing. She quickly pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed Blake's number, putting it on speaker.
"Hello?" He said.
"Hiiiii Blakeee." Blue said, grinning, and quickly covering her mouth to stop herself from giggling.
"Oh, hey Blue. You alright?" He asked, noticing her unusual way of greeting him, and you could hear the confused yet slightly amused tone in his voice.
"Yep! I'm super good. I just called to tell you something." She replied, and then a shade of pink crept up her cheeks.
She turned to look at me and whispered— or tried whispering,
"This is so embarrassing! You're a meanie!"
I started laughing along with Bella and Aiden, and put a finger up to my lips.
"Shh!" I whispered back.
"Okay, what would that be?" Blake asked, still completely clueless, and Blue grinned.
"I think you're HOT!" She squeaked and the rest of us started laughing hysterically.
"Wh-" He started to say, but Blue quickly hung up.
"Good one!" Bella said rather loudly, and Blue covered her face in embarrassment.
Finally, Blue managed to somewhat regain her composure, and spun the bottle. We all nervously waited for it to stop and then it landed on me.
Oh no.
"My turn to ask!" Bella yelled and I smiled nervously.
"Alriiight...truth or dare?"
"Truth." I picked, being the chicken that I am.
"LAMEEEE." Aiden said, rolling his eyes and giving me a look.
"Shut up, you're drunk." I said, rolling my eyes at him.
"No I'm not." He whined and I ignored him.
"Okay, I'll make the question to ask you now." Bella said, wording her sentence rather awkwardly. "Do youuu think my little brother is cuteeee?" She asked, giggling and my eyes widened.
I turned to look at Aiden, who was staring at me intensely, yet had an extremely stupid look on his face such as the one you would make when you're staring at the board during math class and don't understand any of it.
"Aiden, who am I?" I asked him, trying to figure out how drunk he really was.
"The month after May, right?" He replied dumbly.
"Seriously..." I said.
"Seriously what?" He asked and I giggled.
Moron.
"Yes." I said, looking at Bella.
"Truly?!" She asked, smiling widely.
"Yeah." I replied honestly, knowing none of them would remember this tomorrow and she shook her head.
"Goose." She mumbled and I stared at her confused.
"Goose?"
"I said silly goose." She replied and Blue started crying.
"Why are you crying?!" I asked her, worried at her sudden reaction.
"I'm okay, June. They're tears of happy."
"What?"
"The goose joke was so funny that I'M CRYING OF LAUGHTER!" She said, while laughing and clutching her stomach.
I gave her a 'you're so weird' look and soon enough, Aiden and Bella were also crying of laughter on my living room floor while I just sat there in silence.
I smiled at how happy all three of them looked, and found it somewhat pleasing to see Aiden like this because I don't think I'd ever get to see him laugh like this when he's sober.
Soon enough, I began laughing too.
I took a picture of all of them, taking advantage of the moment, and then spoke.
"Okay, we didn't even get past two people. How about we all just go to sleep?" I asked, and they all just continued to lie on the floor.
"June, it's not over. We need to finish." Blue mumbled, her arms sprawled out on the floor.
"Don't you wanna know anything about me?" Aiden asked, slurring all his words and keeping his eyes closed.
"Maybe later." I replied and he smiled lazily.
"Okay. Sounds like a deal, cupcake." He said, slurring all his words again and still smiling lazily.
"But I wanted to play tooo." Bella whispered, her eyes slowly shutting, then passing out.
I giggled at the sight of all three of them and decided to go get some blankets and buckets for all of them. I placed a blanket on each one and a bucket next to each one as well. It helped being an artist in times like these because otherwise, I probably wouldn't have a bunch of spare buckets.
"You're very nice." Aiden whispered suddenly, startling me.
His hand reached for a strand of my hair and twirled it around his fingers in a very weak, uncontrolled manner.
"Well, I don't want you puking on my floor and blankets are necessary when you sleep." I replied quietly, sounding as if I were talking to a small child.
"I need to say- I need...You know, I like...I like..." He mumbled dumbly and then dozed off, falling asleep for real this time.
I sat there for a few seconds, and just watched him sleep.
Not to be creepy or anything.
As I watched, I noticed how he lightly snored and was pretty grateful he wasn't one of those people that snore so loudly you can hear it like three rooms away because I'd really appreciate some good night's sleep tonight.
Suddenly, I furrowed my eyebrows, slightly annoyed at the fact he fell asleep before telling me what it was that he liked.
Finally, I stood up, deciding staring at him longer would just become extremely creepy.
As I walked back to my room, I realized Aiden and I had the art course to go to tomorrow and I groaned.
Why did we do this?
I was lucky I didn't get drunk, but I can't say the same thing about Aiden. He was going to have a major hangover tomorrow morning.
Poor guy.
--
"OLD MCDONALD HAD A FARM E-I-E-I-O!! AND A-"
"WHAT THE HECK?" I groaned, immediately turning off my alarm.
Why in the world is that my alarm ringtone?
I'm guessing Blue has to do with it.
I looked at the time on my phone screen.
6:15am
Ugh.
At least Aiden and I have enough time to get ready. Still half asleep, I walked over to the living room to wake up Aiden.
When I got there, I noticed he was shirtless.
Oh my. That's quite a view.
Not that I'm complaining.
I'm guessing he woke up at some point.
I kneeled down and gently shook him to wake him up.
"Aiden." I whispered.
He groaned.
I shook him a bit harder this time.
"Aiden, wake up. We gotta go to the art course." I said, and he groaned again. Suddenly, he pulled me towards him, quite abruptly, and wrapped his arm around my waist.
Obviously, he was unaware of what he was doing. For a second, I wished we could stay like this because, quite frankly, he was warm and this position was rather comfy.
However, this wasn't the case, and he needed to wake up. We couldn't miss a day.
I tried squiggling out of his arms, causing him to furrow his eyebrows and make some weird noise. It almost seemed like someone was trying to take away the teddy bear he was sleeping with. I failed to escape his embrace and pouted.
"Aiden, wake upppp." I said again, this time calling him a bit louder and slowly, but finally, his eyes fluttered open.
"What the- June? What are you doing here?" He asked, his voice deep and raspy, and I couldn't help but notice how incredibly hot he sounded right now.
Why is it that guys' voices always sound so hot when they first wake up?
What a blessing.
"Because this is my house. You all passed out after getting drunk." I explained, and he smiled down at me, for some unknown reason.
I suddenly felt all weird with him being that close, being shirtless, and smiling down at me, so I decided to quickly get myself out of his arms.
"Nice bed hair." He stated, and I immediately tried to brush out my bird nest-looking hair with my fingers.
"Whatever." I mumbled, feeling embarrassed, mostly because even though his hair was also messy, it looked sexy, while I probably just looked like a hobo.
"It's okay, cupcake. You look cute." He teased and I just rolled my eyes. It's too early for this.
"We need to hurry or we'll be late." I said and he tried to stand up but quickly lost his balance.
"Owww. My head, it hurts." He said, holding his head and squinting his eyes in pain.
"Oh, right. I'll go get you something to take." I said, standing up and making my way to the kitchen.
I served him a glass of water and when I came back, I gave him a pill to help with the headache. My head hurt a bit as well, but it wasn't anything major. I could spend the rest of the day just fine.
"Thanks." He said, immediately gulping down the pill and drinking the rest of the water.
"No problem." I replied, giving him a small smile.
He smiled back and shook his head.
"What?" I asked and he looked at me.
"I don't know." He said, and then chuckled. "I just find it weird that even though you say you hate me, you're still nice to me." He admitted and I remained silent for a second.
"I guess I just need my partner to be in a remotely good condition if I want that painting to turn out well. Plus, I'm not a heartless witch either." I said, the corner of my my mouth quirking up and he just chuckled again.
"Yeah sure, whatever you say." He said, rolling his eyes playfully. "Now, please help me up." He said, putting his arm up for me to grab.
I did as he said, and then after a couple of seconds, he finally gained his ability to walk again.
This is when I was finally able to get a good look at his abs and let me tell you, I was scared I might drool all over the floor.
They're so beautiful.
Holy crap, how can someone be this hot?
Literally, God bless his genes.
"June." He said.
"Huh?" I asked, still dazed by the view before my eyes.
"You need to stop doing that."
"Doing what?"
"Checking me out." He said bluntly and I felt my cheeks heat up, my eyes widening.
"I was- I was not checking you out!" I lied and he laughed.
"Don't deny it babe. I know you were." He said arrogantly, winking at me.
"Who knew that even when you've just woken up and hungover you could be such a conceited little punk." I said, rolling my eyes at him.
"I never lose my charm." He said, in a proud tone.
I laughed.
"Shut up and go shower. You smell." I said, already walking away.
"Likewise." He replied, and we both went our separate ways.
I took my bathroom and he used Blue's.
"By the way, there's new toothbrushes in the third drawer." I said before he closed the door.
"Thank you ma'am." He replied, and then I began to get ready.
After I got out of the shower, I went in my room and picked an outfit.
I realized Aiden would probably need a new set of clothes considering they smelt like alcohol and well, people would probably think things if they saw us arrive together at the course and see Aiden wearing the same clothes as yesterday.
I walked to my closet and found some pants and a shirt that belonged to my brother. He really didn't come often, but he had left some clothes here from a couple of years ago when he came to visit me.
I went into Blue's room, just to find Aiden dripping wet with the towel around his waist.
"Oh my gosh- I uhm, I'm sorry. I just came to leave you these- yeah. Okay, bye. Sorry." I apologized, my eyes desperately looking everywhere but at him, and he just laughed.
I quickly placed the clothes on the bed and walked out.
Why do I embarrass myself so much?
I swear if there was an award for most awkward person of the year, I would definitely win.
I checked the time again and it was 7:37am.
Alright, good. We've got enough time to get there.
I grabbed some strawberry yogurt and suddenly heard Aiden.
"Can I have some?" He asked and I nodded.
He grabbed one from the fridge and we sat down in silence, eating our yogurts as fast as possible.
"We need to hurry." I said, pointing at the clock.
"Oh man, we do. Let's go." He said, throwing away his empty yogurt and grabbing his car keys.
"You're not driving." I said, snatching them away from him.
"Why?"
"Because you're hungover. Just chill for a bit in the car." I said, snatching the keys out of his hand.
"Fair enough." He said and then we walked out.
We got in his car and as we made our way to the course, and he spoke.
"So, what even went on yesterday?" He asked and I suddenly felt nervous.
"Well, what do you remember?" I asked, hoping he didn't remember me answering Bella's question, or any of our little talk.
"Uh, I remember Blue calling Blake and I think at some point she started crying or laughing. I'm not sure, but somehow I ended up on the floor laughing too. And that's about it." He said.
Thank goodness.
"Oh, alright." I said, smiling and feeling relieved.
"Oh my gosh, did I do anything stupid? I can't remember. Did I pick truth or dare? June I swear if-"
"Calm down!" I said, and started laughing at his reaction. "We didn't even get that far. You guys passed out after my tur-" I started, and quickly stopped, realizing I didn't want him to know I'd gone or he would ask what I picked.
"What? You had a turn? Why don't I remember this?!" He asked, mostly to himself, and I smirked.
"Yeah, but you'll never know." I said, smiling sweetly at him.
"I shouldn't have gotten drunk. I bet whatever it was is gold." He mumbled, shaking his head in disappointment and I just continued to smile in satisfaction.
"Yeah, it probably was." I said, and then I gave him my phone and showed him the picture I took last night.
"What the- what is this?" He asked, staring at the image on the screen amusedly.
"A picture of you guys dying of laughter at Bella's goose joke." I replied, laughing.
"What?" He asked, giving me a look but letting out a laugh. "Alright, now I really wish I remembered last night. I can't even imagine what else went on." He said, and I laughed.
"Well, you all passed out shortly after I took that picture so there's not much to say except I gave you all blankets and buckets." I explained and he nodded.
"I feel there's something you're not telling me, but I'll let it go considering I probably won't get it out of you." He admitted, handing me back my phone.
"Very smart." I said, smiling mischievously.
--
When we arrived, we obviously walked in together and got quite a few looks from people.
Aiden didn't seem to notice though. Then again, Aiden didn't notice a lot of things.
We walked over to where Blake was sitting and took a seat. He gave us a curious look and Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"What?" He asked cluelessly.
Blake rolled his eyes at him, and then turned to look at me for an explanation.
"Do you really wanna know?" I asked, and he thought about it for a second.
"Actually, I kinda do. It's...unexpected." He admitted.
"Okay, true." I said and Aiden looked at both of us confused.
"Can someone please explain to me what you're talking about? I feel like I'm not even here." Aiden said, and I sighed.
"Everyone's wondering why we showed up together when we supposedly hate each other. I swear, you're so oblivious." I said and he made an 'o' shape with his mouth.
"Well, I got a little drunk last night and stayed at her place with my sister since we went over to chill. That explains why we arrived together." He said nonchalantly, and I nodded.
"I don't think I'll ever understand you two. First you're avoiding each other and now I find out you were hanging out last night." He said and Aiden shrugged, and then looked at me.
"She just can't stay mad at me. I'm irresistible." He said smirking at me and Blake started laughing.
"Shut up." I started, rolling my eyes at him. "He came over without me knowing." I defended myself.
"Oh yeah, but you couldn't stop thinking about me otherwise you wouldn't say my name while you slee-"
"AIDEN." I yelled, covering his mouth and Blake looked confused.
Suddenly, I felt him lick my hand and quickly pulled it away and wiped it off on his shirt.
"Ew!" I said, and he started laughing.
"That's payback for that lick on the cheek."
"I hate you."
"Okay everyone, all I've got to say today is use your time wisely because it's your last day to finish up the paintings. You can all get back to the garages and work." Mr. Falkov said, thankfully interrupting our conversation and then walking back to his desk.
After that, we all went to our garages and began to work.
I gathered up the materials and when I turned around to tell Aiden to help me, I noticed he looked in a bad condition.
He was holding his head, and sitting on the stool.
I forgot he didn't really get a chance to recover from his hangover.
"Aiden, you okay?" I asked, even though I knew he wasn't.
"Uh, yeah. Just need to sit for a bit." He lied, but I let it go, considering there wasn't much I could do.
Part of me was annoyed he decided to get drunk knowing we had to come here today. He knew he would be like this.
"Well, I'm gonna go wash our brushes. They're dirty from yesterday." I said and he stood up.
"I'll help you." He offered but I stopped him.
"No, it's fine. You stay here and rest for a bit. I got this." I said and he smiled gratefully.
"Alright, thanks." He said and I walked to the bathroom and did what I had to.
When I came back, I saw Aiden and Blake talking.
"What are you guys talking about?" I asked, trying to join in the conversation.
"Nothing. Now get outta here Blake." Aiden said, and both of them laughed.
"See ya." Blake said, smirking at Aiden and then walked back to his partner.
Weirdos.
"Alright, let's get started." I said and he nodded.
We decided I'd start painting today since he still felt bad and he had started first last time anyway.
About thirty minutes into my work he groaned.
"Ugh my head hurts." He whined and I just stared at him.
"Well..."
"Well what?" He asked.
"It's your fault." I said bluntly and he shot me a look.
"Don't give me that look. You know it's true." I said and he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, well I'm sorry Ms. I Never Do Anything Wrong." He retorted sassily, and I narrowed my eyes at him and just continued to work, trying to avoid an argument.
After about twenty minutes of silence, he spoke again.
"I can't do this." He said.
"Well you have to. I'm not going to let you ruin my work just because you decided to get drunk." I protested, giving him a look.
"Well maybe if your friend didn't offer alcohol on a weekday this wouldn't have happened!" He said, blaming Blue for his problems.
"Don't you dare drag my best friend into this. This is your fault! Sorry you can't contain yourself, but this isn't her fault because I didn't get drunk!" I spat back, already feeling anger rise up inside me.
"Why do you act like you're so perfect?! Always blaming me for everything! Not just for this!" He yelled back.
"You know, you weren't even supposed to be there yesterday so suck it up and stop whining!" I yelled back and at this point we were both face to face, about to rip each other's hair out.
"Guys, calm down." Blake said, making his way over to us trying to settle things.
"Don't tell me to calm down. He's always messing up everything and then getting mad at me for not being as stupid as him." I said and Blake just awkwardly stood there, realizing he couldn't do anything.
"Just let me handle it." Aiden said raising his voice, and Blake just quickly nodded and walked away.
"Yeah, maybe I wasn't supposed to go yesterday but I did to go fix things with you and all you ever do is treat me like the bad guy and pretend you're flawless." He said, making jazz hands when he said the word 'flawless', to emphasize it, and I took a step towards him.
"I'm not flawless, but I'm not stupid enough to get drunk and then blame it on someone else!" I glowered.
"Alright, well if I'm so stupid then I'll just leave!" He yelled, starting to turn around and walk away, but I grabbed his arm.
"YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE ME HERE!" I said furiously, and he clenched his jaw.
"June, let me go." He said coldly, his expression darkening.
"No." I replied bluntly, with the same tone.
He tried to let go of me and I pulled him at the same time, making both of us lose our balance and falling back.
Suddenly, I heard something fall and I looked at Aiden who suddenly turned red and his eyes intensely piercing into mine, giving me the scariest look I've ever seen in my life.
I looked behind me just to see a ripped canvas.
I'm guessing it was his...
I turned back to look at him and then we both stood up.
He laughed incredulously and then looked back at me.
"I guess I jinxed your perfection." He said and I clenched my fists.
"You're a jerk. If you wouldn't have tried to leave then that wouldn't have happened!" I fought back, feeling my cheeks heat up in anger.
"I'm so sick of this!" He yelled in frustration, throwing his hands in the air.
"Well it's not my fault!" I yelled back.
"It is! Always getting mad for everything! Anger management much." He said, mumbling the last part.
"Not my problem you're gifted at making people mad!" I said and suddenly I saw Mr. Falkov make his way towards our garage.
Ugh, not this.
If he sees us fighting we're getting kicked out of the course for good.
"Oh well, excuse me for-"
"Shut up, teacher's coming." I mumbled but he didn't hear me and kept rambling on.
"Aiden." I said, but he still kept talking, not paying attention to me. His eyes were looking all over the room and he just wouldn't shut up. He kept yelling nonsense. If I yelled at him, Mr. Falkov would surely see me arguing back.
And knowing that man, he was eager to get us both out of there. He absolutely hated us.
So like any other girl, I did the necessary thing to do for my own sake.
I grabbed Aiden's face, looked straight into his eyes, and then mentally prepared myself to do what is probably the most insane thing I've ever done.
I kissed Aiden Blackwood.
