voltron season 5 review

I started writing this the day season five came out, but I've been working on it a few days so here we go...

Just watched the new Voltron season five and let me tell you that was a wild ride.

Spoiler alert for those who haven't seen it.

So yeah warning this is my review of the new season. I have some predictions and thoughts too here.

So.

Yeah.

Actually tbh it was okayyyy. It had a lot of allura and shiro, my actual faves, and pidge finally gets her dad back. I'm happy. Also her dad went back to earth, which I think is a good place for him. A good place to heal but also help get earth ready. Im pretty sure he's coming back though with a "oh yeah nobody believes me" or something like that haha.

And Kuron is finally coming to light, not like we didn't know it was a clone since he first showed up 👀👀👀👀 I still really love Kuron (Ryou) even though he's probably going to end up sacrificing himself. Like,,, when real shiro comes back, they won't keep Ryou around for long tbh. I feel like Ryou will be one of those "actually good but the evil is taking over!!1!!1!2" kind of clones too.

ALSO why were they all like "okay let's just give the galra empire all of the quintessence they need sounds like a good idea" BRUH what do you think they're going to DO WITH ALL OF THAT PURE SPACE ENERGY?? Why didn't anyone question it? They were like "this will stop the war" NO MAN IF THEY GET ALL OF THIS POWER THEY CAN ESSENTIALLY TAKE ALL OF YOU OUT WAY EASIER. but yeah.

There wasn't anything that I disliked. I thought it was all at least mediocre, no real dislikes.

The whole Keith's mom thing was super evident the first time her image was shown like bruh she has the same haircut as you. I honestly don't think Keith is the coolest boi to walk the earth. He was literally in the new season .02 seconds too lmao. I feel like other people are spicy about it, but I don't really care.

I can't wait until Lotura almost sails and then crashes because lotor fucking does some shit. Like don't you guys remember at the beginning of the season when everyone was like 👀👀 that boi is Evil™️. And when they went to the white lion he didn't get the special knowledge because he tried to kill it. He's going to end up doing something reckless and wreck that ship. Also he's kind of a manipulative back-stabber?? I want to like it, I really do, but all I can see is him manipulating her and I just can't,,,

I was just scrolling through my tumblr feed and I think this sums it up pretty well:

Anyway yeah. That sums that all up pretty well

moving on to Lance,,,

Pre-season five, I thought Lance was a cute character, but I wasn't a Lance stan. With this season, I think I like him a lot a lot more than I did. He's becoming more of responsible person, still is a flirt though lol. I like it. Lance is a good character. I just am not obsessed at all with him.

I feel like everyone is thinking and screaming about this, "where's Hunk in season five?!!???" He only had brief interactions but he never really did anything besides crash his lion into the side of the lava base is the first minute of episode one. He did some science things with pidge but he never had a scene really focused on him. I feel like there's a chance he won't get another big scene until way later but,,, yeah that's just what I think.

Okay back to lotor tho, I can see two different paths for endgame.
1. He's the final boss. Everyone hates him because he fucked with their space mom and backstabbed all of them. Like... imagine how it feels to fall in love with someone and then they backstab you and your whole team. SAD SPACE MOM. ANGRY SPACE TEAM. Lotor effectively cements himself as antagonist, and they're fighting take him down like they were taking down Zarkon. This time it's closer to home, they got to know Lotor, they let him in. Take him out.

2. This could go along with 1 as well. Haggar does somethin. Either she sort of takes control of Lotor or I don't know. Haggar won't take control because she thinks they won't accept her (which, how come everyone knows she's Altean but lotor apparently can't make the connection that she's Honerva???)

Okay I know I said only two but I thought of a third endgame

3. Lotor pulls a Honerva/Haggar and spirals into obsession that turns him into a whole new evil-touched person. This either happens after or before he backstabs the team.

Just to clarify, I do really like Lotor as a character. He's very complex and interesting, but honestly I don't think this season was a redemption arc at all. I don't think he will get a redemption arc tbh.

Soo yeah. Hit me with your own theories or links to your fave theories for future episodes and plots!! Sorry this wasn't very organized lmao
