How to write JJ

- Do not romanticise his abuse. Writing about abuse or any mental illness can be really tricky, especially if you haven't properly researched about it. It's ridiculously inappropriate to have a romantic interest suddenly make everything JJ's been through go unspoken and meaningless. Though everything he's had to deal with regarding his home life is terrifying and shouldn't have even happened in the first place, it's made him the way he is. He's violent, short tempered and reckless. Getting a partner will not automatically make him become a goody two-shoes. Assuming he's had to deal with his fathers abuse for years, it'll take him some time to learn how to deal with his feelings in a healthy way.

-Make sure to show how much his abuse affects him. Like have him open up to your oc slowly not right away. JJ's not perfect so make sure to show his flaws. JJ seems like the type of person to keep to himself so it'll be harder for him to open up to someone new. Or maybe someone in general. And getting a gf/bf won't make him automatically happy and like everything's rainbows and unicorns. Ali said that she noticed JJ said at one point that he uses "dank nugs and the stickiest of ickies" (whatever that means) to get over him being sad and he seems to use drugs a lot so. Maybe the oc can help him not use as much or any drugs to cope anymore.
