The corners of his glossy lips curled into a devious smirk he circled her like a lion closing in on its prey, (y/n) eyes darted around desperately searching for an opening to make her escape she kept the point of her blade trained on the demon his tall silhouette loomed over her, casting a dark shadow that seemed to wrap its self around her swallowing her whole, he smiled broadly taunting her with his devilish grin "I admire your heroic efforts, you're fighting for those whom you hold dearest to your heart and fight to protect those who can't protect themselves," he mused half-heartedly,

A hint of bitter amusement in his vibrant red eyes that pierced right through her with an unflinching gaze, "they say heroes make the story, but it's the villains that make the story by causing the problems. Heroes just die in the end," he hummed placing a finger under her chin tilting her head upwards he looked at her with a crooked expression, "they wreck themselves over bad things that happen, the people they couldn't save." Her (e/c) orbs widened a look of horror on her face as a set of figures appeared,

"Villains say, screw that and keep living in the way they want to. Nothing to ruin themselves over," he whispered into her ear placing his strong hands over her frail shoulders, "join us and that pain of failing to save those you love most will go away," he said gripping her shoulders almost reassuringly she felt her legs give out beneath her as she collapsed onto her knees with a light 'thud', tears stinging the corners of her glassy eyes she studied the reanimated corpses of the Kamado family through wide eyes digging her nails into the dirt beneath her,

"I'm not a monster," she choked out her teary voice breaking, her body slumped over as she stared down at her trembling hands with an empty stare, "you'd like to believe that wouldn't you?" Haku replied  in a toneless voice kneeling down beside her with one swift motion of his hand the silhouettes of the former Kamado family faded away, she looked at him with a slack expression her dull wet eyes examining him closely he stood up holding out a sickly pale hand, she stared at it momentarily hesitantly reaching a hand out wrapping it around his cold one,

Her hand trembled in his palm he carefully pulled her up on to her weak legs steadying her, "Villains aren't so bad, we were once people on the side of good," he said in a quiet voice a woeful expression on his unnaturally pale face, he brushed her hair out of her face with his skeleton-like fingers "I'll give you some time to think about what I said, when you're ready just call for me I'll be watching you," he chimed in a cheery tone winking at her almost teasing her,

"But before we part ways let me leave you with a parting gift," he said almost purring as he leaned in slowly pressing his soft glossy lips against hers lightly playfully biting her bottom lip, (y/n) stared at him through wide eyes lips parted in surprise he let out an airy chuckle a sardonic expression on his face he bowed gracefully, "see you soon my darling," he said (y/n) watched a look of awe on her face as he faded,

"Tanjiro, she's waking up," a familiar voice could be heard in the distance as if someone was calling out to her through a long empty tunnel, a bright vibrant white light could be seen off into the distance just beyond the trees of the dark forest it's warmth and bright glow was alluring she began to walk towards it like a moth being drawn to an open flame the ground crunches beneath her as she stepped over the dead leaves and twigs, she let its warm glow wash over her like a hot summer breeze its vivid light kissing her face lightly (y/n) scrunched her face up as it got brighter blinding her, she felt a pair of strong arms encasing her in their warm embrace,

"Thank god, you just collapsed," Koji explained in a concerned voice pressing the back of his hand against her forehead examining her, (y/n) stared up at the two young men through a pair of glassy eyes with a distant expression "I collapsed?" She muttered quietly a face full of uncertainty, Tanjiro nodded his head helping her to her feet a strong arm wrapped around her waist as he hoisted her up, "I had the eeriest dream," she said in a distant voice,

Brushing her slender fingers through her dishevelled hair fixing her (long/short/midlength) (h/c) coloured locks Tanjiro watched her struggle with her hair a small cheesy smile on his lips, "here let me," he whispered in a soothing voice running his long fingers through her hair braiding it back he hummed to himself as he worked his fingers through her hair, a soft blush dusted her cheeks as he fussed with her hair (y/n) wiggled around nervously butterflies swarming her stomach, "Stop fussing. I'm just braiding your hair," he beamed a broad smile on his face,

Koji leisurely leaned against a tree resting his back against the stump of the tall oak tree watching the two young adults with an amused expression, "hey lover birds we need to find a way out of here before we end up like them," he announced jabbing a finger towards the two bodies of the inspectors that were perched up carelessly against a dead tree, his eyes dashed around searching for any route that could lead them back to the safety of the city streets "we can't leave without stopping whatever is doing this," Tanjiro insisted in a biting tone his brows furrowed together a look of determination on his face,

(Y/n) nodded her head curtly in agreement Koji glanced between the two cocking a brow "you realise we can't stop whatever is doing this if we're dead too," he retorted, almost sarcastically crossing his strong arms over his broad chest (Y/n) eyes darted around the forest a familiar tingle pinching at her skin like thousands of sharp needles pricking at her raw flesh, her chest heaved up and down as she tried to steady her breath she focused on the darkest corner of the in the shadows she could make out the outline of a tall silhouette,

She broke out in a cold sweat as a pair of ruby red eyes stared her down from the distance piercing into her like a sharp knife, she felt her palms start to sweat profusely the sun beat down her face almost blinding her but through the suns glare she could still make out Haku's figure lurking in the darkest parts of the forest watching her through amused eyes his lips curled into a devilish grin, she cupped her clammy hands balling her fists tightly as realisation dawned on her draining the colour from her (s/t) complexion,

She flinched when a strong hand placed its self on her shoulder bringing her back to their harsh reality "are you okay?" Koji asked her in his thin voice barely above a whisper, his dark ebony eyes stared down at her pouring into her, eyes bleary from surveillance she nodded her head slowly batting her eyelids, trying to shake the feeling of dread that lurked over like a dark cloud, "There's an old story I heard circulating around the city," Tanjiro spoke up (y/n) and Koji exchanged a sideways glance before turning to the burgundy haired boy with expectant looks on their faces,

"There are stories of a ghostly woman who would lure unsuspecting Good Samaritans into the forest to kill them," he explained a pale expression on his face as he swallowed the lump that sat in his throat sweat trickling down his brow, "a long time ago a woman from a small corner of Tokyo caught her husband having an affair so she lured him and his mistress into the forest where she than disembowelled them and strung them up from a tree," (y/n) felt faint making her stumble slightly only to be caught by the raven-haired young man,

"Than she dragged her child into the forest and strung them up beside their father," he paused momentarily as a cold chill washed over him making him tremble in his shoes rubbing the back of his head trying to shake the unsettling feeling that ate at him "she ran back into town claiming someone took her child trying to cover her tracks, apparently when the truth was discovered a mob hanged her in this forest," Koji turned to his female companion with a deadpan expression an amused gleam in his dark ebony eyes,  "I told you ghosts exist," he mused in a matter of fact tone his lips curling into a smug grin as he brushed his fingers up and down his chin,

Tanjiro and (y/n) stared at him through narrowed eyes a look of disbelief on their faces, "this is the moment you chose to say I told you so?" (Y/n) replied in a scolding tone flicking the boy's forehead with her bony fingers making him flinch  puckering her glossy lips forming a plump pout, "so how do we kill a ghost?" (Y/n) asked crossing her lanky arms over her frail body tapping her foot against the ground impatiently a discontent expression on her (round/pointed/square) face,

"I don't know," he replied in an airy voice a distant look on his face his eyes dashing around the forest as he surveyed their surroundings through narrowed wine-red eyes, Koji hummed thoughtfully raking his slender fingers through his locks sweeping his dark raven hair out of his pale face "we have to burn her remains, " Tanjiro explained in a serious voice an expressionless look on his benevolent face, "They buried her body under the tree she was hung from in an unmarked grave, we have to find it before sundown," he spoke with a grave tone looking between the two with his vibrant burgundy eyes,

With a valiant nod, Koji and (y/n) spread out their eyes dashing around carefully surveying their surroundings the ground made a soft crunch beneath their feet as they scouted the area,

Every step she took felt as if she were stepping on a fluffy cloud her thoughts became clouded in the distance she could see the tall alluring woman standing idly in front of a large lake, as she got closer realisation dawned on her a sense of familiarity came over her as she recognised the face of the woman it was the grieving mother whom they had followed into the forest, she was dressed in a beautifully elegant white kimono adorned in a golden thread that was embroidered into a rose pattern decorating the luxurious kimono, her silky ebony locks fell down her narrow shoulders her lips were lightly glossed over in a beautiful red shade of lipstick, from a distance she looked like a porcelain doll elegant and beautiful,

The appearance of the elegant woman began to change as she underwent a horrifying haggard transformation her porcelain skin took on a sickly pale complexion, her vivid hazel eyes became dull in colour glossed over by a white fog, her youthful complex was riddled in wrinkles a pair of dark eye bags hung under her eyes giving them a sunken lifeless appearance, the wretched wench opened her arms wide a sinister grin spread across her brittle cracked lips
a dangerous gleam in her beady dull glassed over eyes,

Tanjiro walked through the eery forest his eyes narrowed in deep concentration as he scoured the area for the unmarked grave, his burgundy eyes carefully studying his surroundings he peeked up as he caught the scent of a familiar perfume a sweet floral scent he'd recognise anywhere, he followed the alluring scent past the trees he squinted his eyes as he stared off into the distance he could make out the appearance of a old crone he noticed how she appeared to be holding something down a look of horror spread across his boyish face as realisation dawned on him,

He sprung into action sweat trickling down his brow "(y/n)!" He bellowed crying out in desperation tears stinging the corners of his eyes, he drew his sword from its sheath in one swift motion he swung the Nichirin blade at the haggard wench she hissed like a snake disappearing into a thick ashy fog, Tanjiro felt a pair of hands grab him throwing him into the lake a set of lanky yet inhumanly strong arms wrapped around his neck strangling him in its brittle clutches,

He wriggled in her grasp trying to break free from her death grip his teeth gritted in anger, (y/n) gasped for air as she surfaced freed from the wretched wenches siren songs spell, her chest heaved up and down as she tried to catch her breath, her eyes darted around searching for any sign of the wicked woman whom had held her in her grasps earlier, she spied the woman off in the distance struggling with her latest victim she felt her heart drop to her stomach panic washing over her (y/n) leaped into action drawing her silvery white blade,

The haggard woman let out a shrill discontent cry as several blows were delivered each going through her as if the blade was cutting through a thick cloud of greyish white mist, her blade glimmered in the sunlight illuminating the nichirin metal as it absorbed the suns richest rays, the blinding white light made the haggard wench shrill in almost as if she were in agony, Tanjiro watched his fiancé in awe she seemed to dance on the water every swift movement more beautiful than the other she twirled on the tips of her toes with ease and undeniable grace,

Lotus petals danced around her graceful form synchronising with her movements he watched through wide eyes his lips parted in fascination as he studied her movements she danced like a ballet dancer giving their best performance on stage to the world, her face was serene and calm but her (e/c) orbs were fiery with a fierce look of determination she evaded every clawing motion from the haggard wenches talons with extreme flexibility and grace to the untrained eye one may think she was simply dancing,

But her blade moved as swiftly as her feet did he felt a warm flutter in his stomach as if he had swallowed hundreds of butterflies, the suns rays illuminated off of her giving her a halo effect like an angel watching her dance among the petals made her seem ethereal as if she were a deity that fell from the highest heavens to the earth right into his arms,

He felt his face flush as a soft blush dusting its self on his benevolent face he glanced upwards the petals began to dance around the three of them swirling around them erratically, the wretch had been cornered by the young lotus dancer who panted her chest heaving up and down as she tried to catch her breath beads of sweat trickling down her forehead, she eyed the wicked wretch her eyes narrowed in frustration her brows furrowed in deep thought as she attempted to concoct a plan to end this match but how do you kill someone who is already dead?

The wretches beady eyes darted around searching for an escape she let out a banshee like wail of frustration, (y/n) realised all she could do was hold off the haggard woman until Koji could burn her remains she had to think fast she could not allow the wretch to escape her trap, Tanjiro watched as she drew another breath steadying her breathing her eyes fluttered closed gently,

𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠,

The flurry of lotus petals began to pull together forming a colossal beast in the shape of a giant lion that towered over the young lotus dancer, the wretch studied the gigantic breast through wide beady eyes she shrieked like a banshee temper flaring, Tanjiro gawked his mouth hanging low burgundy eyes almost bulging out of their sockets as the lion took a defensive stand throwing its head back letting out a earth shattering roar, it's battle cry shook the trees the birds scattered squawking as they fled the scene,

The lotus beast moved in sync with her nichirin blade in one swift movement it swallowed the wretch hole as the shimmering moonstone coloured blade cut through her neck, (y/n) grunted in frustration as the wretch disappeared in mist Tanjiro and (y/n) shared a sideways glance a look of concern on their face as a thick fog rolled over the forest, "I think I just made her mad," she whispered in a low pitch tone her eyes dashing around squinting as she tried to see through the thick fog,

"(Y/n)" Tanjiro cried reaching out for her a look of desperation on his face "don't leave me," he cried out in a shaky tone as fog separated them she searched for him through wide eyes her mouth agape, her eyes darted around frantically surveying her surroundings she held her sword up in a defensive manner her head snapped in every direction,

A loud sinister cackle erupted echoing around her almost taunting her in the corner of her eye she could see a shadow moving around the fog, it slithered around like a snake in tall grass waiting to strike (y/n) gripped the hilt of her nichirin blade tightly in her clammy hands her knuckles turned pasty white, she swallowed the nervous lump in her throat, her eyes darted to her right as a shadow sprang from the fog the haggard wretch raised her talons ready to strike her sinister glare fixated on the young girls unprotected throat,

Her sharp skeleton like talons barely grazed the skin of her neck when her body went up in a burst of bright fiery blaze, (y/n) flinched her ears ringing as the haggard wretch let out a banshee like shriek her shrill voice bellowed loudly the animalistic cries shook the forest, she stumbled falling backwards cupping her hands over her ears trying to drown out her wailing (y/n) fell back as her screams pierced her ears making them bleed her face twisted in agony, the fog began to clear as the wretched hag faded into ash she curled up on the ground in fetal position tears stinging the corners of her eyes,

The ringing in her ears was deafening it's horrible echoing sound in her ears made her feel disoriented, Tanjiros burgundy eyes dashed around the area as the fog cleared in the distance he spotted (y/n) hunched over on the ground her face full of pain, she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her frail figure swaddling her in its warm embrace a pair of vibrant wine red eyes stared down at her a look of concern on his face, the sound of twigs crunching caught his attention he perked up jerking his head towards the forest as a familiar raven haired male appeared from behind the trees, "you did Koji you burned the body," Tanjiro exclaimed a relieved look on his exhausted face,

Koji stumbled toward the two young adults his chest rising and falling as he tried to catch his breath he kneeled down beside them, "I didn't," he replied in a sceptical tone trailing off they shared a baffled side ways glance Koji raised his chin surveying their surroundings a suspicious look on his face, he lowered his head staring down at the young girl who curled up in her fiancés warm embrace a pained expression on her youthful face,

He waved his hand in front of her face (y/n) watched his mouth move his brows furrowed together she looked at him through half lidded eyes, her chest heaving up and down slowly as she tried to steady her heavy breathing heart pounding erratically, Koji dug a hand in his back pocket scavenging around for something to wipe her face he pulled out a silk handkerchief,

(Y/n) winced as he cleaned the blood in her ears beads of sweat trickled down her forehead she raised a weak hand wiping the sweat off her brow, she hoisted herself up tearing herself from the burgundy haired boys embrace she hissed in pain as she pulled herself up on to her weak legs that shook under weight, she gasped in surprise as her knees buckled under her Tanjiro caught her in his arms before she could the floor,

(Y/n) leaned her weight on her fiancé melting into his embrace letting his warmth wash over her bruised body "it's going to be okay, I got you," he whispered in a compassionate voice as he hoisted her up, he carried her bridal style in his strong arms a charming smile on his benevolent face, a dark blush dusted her cheeks as he placed his succulent lips on the top of her head kissing her affectionately a series of flutters erupted in her chest as a giddy feeling washed over her,

Koji held out a piece of mochi in his large bear like hands offering it to her he grinned sheepishly holding another mochi between his teeth, (y/n) smiled appreciatively as she reached a shaky hand out gratefully taking the mochi from her companion, they giggled as she held it in both hands taking a large chunk out of the dessert a gleeful expression on her face,

"I guess that's another end to another crazy adventure," Koji chimed in an airy voice hanging his head back as he gazed up at the setting sun,

Haku twirled a slender finger around his ebony locks playing with his hair he leaned against a tall oak tree hidden in the shadows his ruby red eyes fixated themselves on the trio on the unsuspecting trio, "rest now my darling you don't know it yet but you're destined for great and unfortunate things," he whispered in a low husky voice the corners of his lips curled into a devious smirk a look of bemusement on his face he hummed quietly to himself,

Every game you play, every night you stay, I'll be watching you

He sang in a silky smooth voice sinister undertone in his words he lowered his head studying the burned remains with a sideway glance he licked his lips a crooked grin on his ghostly pale face, he tucked the box of matches in his back pocket tapping his fingers against his arm slowly watching the trio walk off into the distance none the wiser to his presence and the part he played in the wretches big demise,

Oh, can't you see you belong to me
