"Could this be the town to the north-west!" Tanjiro pondered out loud overlooking the fisherman village from the bridge, "there's only one way to find out we have to ask around," Koji responded glancing down at the boy slapping a hand on his stomach "but first, breakfast!" (Y/n) and Tanjiro exchanged a glance their brows furrowed in uncertainty,

"We had breakfast an hour ago," she replied in a matter of fact tone cocking an eyebrow the raven-haired boy placed his hands on his hips, "yes but what about second breakfast?" He retorted making his way to the markets breathing in the scent of the food stands "you smell that," he said breathing out a satisfied grin on his face saliva dripping down his chin as his mouth watered, "fresh seafood my favourite,"

(Y/n) trotted behind the two men her brow twitching in annoyance a glum expression on her face, "don't look so glum (y/n) look there's a book shop," Koji said pointing to a corner shop book store that lurked at the end of the crowded street, "you can get another one of those perverted erotica books you like so much," he bellowed loudly she felt the judgmental eyes of the crowd burning the back of her head,

"I told you I only read them for the plot!" She asserted a dark blush dusting her cheeks, Tanjiro watched the exchange the corners of his lips curled into a sheepish smile as he tilted his head slightly, (y/n) huffed stamping her foot on the ground her nostrils flaring in annoyance "I'll be back if you need me I'll be in the book shop," she said waving a hand dismissively,

A dull expression on her face, "I guess we should ask around while we wait for her?" The burgundy haired boy inquired cocking an eyebrow he felt a strong arm wrap around his shoulder, "she's going to be in there for hours," Koji replied in a muffled voice forgetting to swallow his food,

They watched the irritated girl slam the book shop door close as she entered the shop an exasperated expression on her face, Tanjiro watched her leave with a look of adoration on his face "such an innocent face for a pervert, we better start asking around," the raven-haired male chimed biting a chunk out of his fried squid,

Hours had passed the duo came up clean it appeared that the villagers were in the dark about the disappearances, "every night another girl goes missing," Tanjiro and Koji listened carefully their brows furrowed "do the girls have anything in common?" Koji probed trying to get out more information,

The fisherman tapped his chin pondering for a moment before nodding his head curtly, "they're all around the age of 15 but the most striking resemblance is that most of the girls had (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes," they felt their blood run cold as ice, the colour drained from their faces as they exchanged a look of horror,

The fisherman watched the two young men take off shoving their way past the crowd, through wide eyes he scratched the back of his head, "I wonder why they're in such a hurry," they broke out in a cold sweat as they spotted the book store in the distance, the shopkeep screamed as the door was suddenly kicked open by the oldest male he eyed the two young men trembling under their gaze,

"H-how can I help you?" He stuttered in a shaky voice "where is your erotica section," Koji asked trying to catch his breath, the shop keeper swallowed the lump in his throat holding a shaky hand up he pointed to the last aisle, "The adult literature section is in the back," he responded in a frightened voice, the two young men shoved the shopkeep out of the way hastily making their way to the back a look of desperation on their faces, "she was here" Tanjiro said barely above a whisper as he carefully lifted her floral pin that was crushed on the ground,

The burgundy haired boy hugged it to his chest fighting back tears, he flinched when he heard the sound of wood breaking, Kojis nostrils flared in anger as he pulled his fist out of the hole he had made in the wall "this is my fault if I hadn't made us stop she would have been with us," he said in a pained voice tears threatening to fall, Tanjiro wiped his glossy eyes swallowing the lump in his throat, "there's still time to save her but we have to act quick," he said placing a hand on the raven-haired boys broad  shoulder giving it a reassuring squeeze,

Koji balled his fist in frustration, his bruised knuckles turned white "than let's start asking around about the latest victim," he replied a through gritted teeth, Tanjiro tucked the hairpin in his Haori, they exchanged a determined look as they marched out the shop

We're coming for you (y/n) just hold on a little longer,

The duo lurked around the streets of the fisherman village searching for answers that would lead them to (y/n) they were running against the clock, "someone knows something," Koji hissed under his breath through gritted teeth hitting the back of his fist against a wooden door making it rattle on its hinges,

Tanjiro flinched a solemn expression on his face gripping the engagement ring firmly in his hand, "oh, look, there's Kazumi," a woman whispered to her companion the crowd spared a discreet glance towards a boy limping down the street, his face bruised and dirty "poor thing, he looks haggard," her friend replied in a sympathetic voice,

Their faces full of pity Tanjiro and Koji paused studying the man who appeared to be in a zombie-like state, "because he was with Sakoto when she was taken," she explained their brows furrowed as they watched him walk down the street a vacant expression on his face his eyes were glassy and hollow,

"Night after night, it's so scary," a deep male voice said solemnly shadows cast over their eyes remorseful expressions on their faces, "it's so dreadful when night falls, yet another young girl will be abducted," a woman declared Koji looked at tanjiro through wide eyes, "did you hear that? They said the girls only go missing at night so it isn't a coincidence that (y/n) went missing," the raven-haired boy explained with a hopeful look,

"They took her during the day there must have been a reason," realisation dawned on the younger boy his mouth agape, Koji turned sharply on his heel pushing his way through the street placing a firm grasp on the haggard man's shoulder "excuse me Kazumi is it?" The young man turned around, his dull eyes looking him up and down studying him,

Tanjiro came from behind the older boy a look of determination on his face "if you don't mind we'd like to hear your story," tanjiro announced his brows furrowed together, the man studied the two sceptically shaking his head "I'm sorry I can't," he replied in a raspy voice his tear-stained face held a pained look, Koji grabbed him by his shirt slamming his back against a wall,

"Look, whoever took your girl took my friend and you're the only chance I have of getting her back," he hissed through his teeth glaring at the frightened man, "so either you're going to tell me everything or I'll make you tell me everything," he said in an ominous tone his bangs casting a shadow over his eyes the man shivered at the demented look on his face,

Tanjiro watched through wide burgundy eyes his jaw hanging down his face he hurried to pull the raven-haired boy off the mourning man, "Mr Kazumi they have my fiancé I need your help to get her back please," he said pleadingly as he got down on his knees bowing flat on the ground, tears threatening to fall from his vibrantly coloured eyes,

He heaved out a defeated sigh wiping his tear-stained face with the sleeve of his Haori, "alright I'll help you," he replied in a weak raspy voice, koji quietly breathed out a sigh of relief Tanjiro glanced up at the man with a grateful expression, he quietly lead them to the area where Sakoto disappeared he examined the area with a pained look in his eyes,

"You may not believe me," he whispered in a low voice his head hanging down his slumped shoulders, "we believe you, we believe you alright!" Tanjiro declares his face scrunched up brows narrowed lips pressed into a deep frown, "I believe you!" He said getting down on all fours sniffing the ground searching for a scent he could follow, a fiercely determined look on his face Koji scouted the area searching for any signs of demonic activity,

"What's he doing?" Kazumi asked inquisitively watching the boy sniff the area like a bloodhound, "Tanjiro was born with a keen sense of smell even keener than a dog," Koji explained placing a hand on his hip "is that so," the man hummed thoughtfully,

"Koji, I won't be around much longer," lady (l/n) explained her frail body laid out on the bed she weakly moved her head to look at the boy, "(y/n) has grown fond of you so I must burden you with something," she said between coughs Koji looked up his brows furrowed in confusion "what is it lady (l/n)," he asked uncertainly,

"Take care of her, she thinks with her heart before she uses her head she always rushes in before she thinks about it," the corners of his lips curled into a soft smile as he reminisced over the time he spent with (y/n), "she's stubborn, so I know she'll get into a lot of trouble that's why she'll need you everyone needs a guardian angel," Koji bowed his head respectfully,

"I promise I'll look after her for you lady (l/n) you can rest easy when the time comes," the sickly elderly glanced at the boy her wrinkled face scrunched up into a warm smile, "you're a good boy Koji she's lucky to have a friend like you,"

"Koji I found a trail," Tanjiro said crawling on all fours like a bloodhound his nose glued to the road, the raven-haired boy nodded in response following behind the peculiar boy silently staring at the ground with a solemn expression I failed you lady (l/n) forgive me he thought to himself glancing up at the sky,

I just finished this chapter at 2 am Australian time, so if you think it needs a rewrite I am happy to do so because I'm not 100% happy with this chapter I also had a question for my dear readers,

I like to keep the chapters word count between 1500-2000 I was wondering if everyone thinks they should be longer, shorter or keep the word count as it is? I'm not sure if readers are aware but season 2 is only airing in 2021 so I was thinking about doing a book 2 for the movie "Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train," and then book 3 for season 2 of the anime series,

Since the second arc is being made into a movie, let me know what you all think because so far in this book we're only on episode 6 out of almost 30 and we have 12 chapters, and make "poor boy" into a series or should I keep it into 1 book?
