tyler: do you know a boy that i can borrow for a few hours?

melanie: what the fuck

tyler: that sounded bad wait

tyler: do you know a boy that would be willing to be my fake boyfriend for a few hours?

melanie: i'm not even gonna ask,, but yeah i have a few people in mind

melanie: any criteria you want them to meet?

tyler: idk just general boyfriend material????? just work your magic and be at my place by 6

melanie was never one to disappoint so tyler was not surprised when she showed up at his house at exactly 6 o'clock with an attractive boy by her side.

"tyler, this is brendon. brendon, this is tyler," melanie introduced the two, gesturing between them as she said their names. brendon was around tyler's height and his hair was dark and fluffy. he was dressed casually in a white t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans with black glasses resting on the bridge of his nose.

"hey boyfriend," brendon chucked as he brought tyler into a tight hug, startling the brunette.

"i'm gonna go so you can get to know each other, and make sure your relationship has a backstory and everything!" melanie instructed the two, waving goodbye as she shut the door behind her.

"so, tyler, why exactly do you need a boyfriend for the night?" brendon asked as he followed tyler up the stairs to his room since he still needed to get ready.

"so i've been helping my neighbor josh experiment with me since he's confused with his sexuality but there's a slight problem with that because he has a girlfriend," tyler informed as he sorted through his clothes. he pulled out a plain black shirt and black skinny jeans, checking with brendon that it would be okay if he got changed in front of him. "anyways, today he gave me all of these hickies but debby came home before i could leave and she saw them so she asked if i was dating anyone and of course i panicked and said yes."

"makes sense," brendon nodded and looked away to give tyler some privacy. "okay babe, how did we meet?"

"we can just say that melanie introduced us, that is the truth after all."

"sounds good to me. are we gonna try to make this josh kid jealous too?"

"no, he doesn't have feelings for me," tyler shrugged and tapped brendon's shoulder to tell him he could look.

the two spent the next 45 minutes asking random questions and getting to know each other, wanting to make their 'relationship' as believable as possible. by the time it was 7 they were confident that it would work and they made their way to josh's house.

they walked up the front steps and right before tyler knocked on the door he stopped, grabbing brendon's arm and wrapping it around his shoulders.

"gotta look like a real couple," tyler shrugged as he turned back to the door and knocked. they waited a few seconds before josh opened the door and gave them a forced smile. debby came jogging into the front hall and hugged tyler, shaking brendon's hand after.

"i'm brendon, it's a pleasure meeting you both," he greeted, trying his best to ignore the death glare josh was giving him.

"i'm debby and that's josh, i'm so glad you could join us tonight! you guys are so cute together!"

"thank you debby! we haven't been together for very long but tyler is great, he's definitely a keeper," brendon pressed a kiss on tyler's cheek, smirking as josh inched closer to debby and protectively hugged her into his side.

"we made lasagna for dinner," josh cleared his throat and started his walk to the kitchen, tyler and brendon following behind with their hands intertwined.

josh and debby sat next to each other on one side of the table, tyler and brendon sitting opposite of them.

"do either of you want wine or champagne?" debby questioned, gesturing to the bottles placed on the table.

"we don't drink so water is fine for us," brendon said and thanked debby as she poured them each a glass of water, champagne for her and josh.

"so how long have you been together?" she asked, serving the lasagna to everyone at the table.

"around a month or so," tyler told her as he took a bite out of the food and gave her a thumbs up.

"our friend melanie introduced us and i immediately knew he was the one for me," brendon grabbed tyler's hand and grinned happily at him, trying his best to sound truthful.

dinner was fairly quiet as everyone enjoyed their meal and shared small conversations to keep things from becoming awkward. tyler was hoping that he and brendon would be able to leave as soon as they had finished but that was not the case.

debby had invited them to go night swimming but neither of them had the heart to say no. they were all standing on the patio in their bathing suits before tyler or brendon (or even josh) could process what was happening. debby was completely oblivious to the tension as she babbled on about something but no one seemed to be listening.

"josh, did you hear me?"

"huh? oh, uh, sorry babe can you repeat that?"

"i asked why we were just standing here, i didn't change for nothing," she grabbed josh's hand and ran into the pool with him still in her grasp, the two of them falling into the water in a fit of laughter. tyler and brendon shared a determined look with each other as they walked side by side into the pool from the steps, brendon sitting down on the second step and patting his lap for tyler to sit on him. he quickly shook his head in opposition but brendon wasn't having any of it and he pulled him into his lap instead.

"i'm gonna crush you, let me off," tyler spoke through gritted teeth, his voice hushed to a quiet whisper.

"do you want her to believe us or not?" brendon retaliated, waving at debby and josh who were watching the 'couple' from the other side of the pool as they shared small kisses.

"i'm pretty sure she believes us!"

"you have hickies, a couple who just holds hands and doesn't even cuddle wouldn't give each other hickies."

tyler huffed and slumped back into brendon's chest, watching with annoyance as debby and josh got more into their kiss.

"oh, that's just nasty," tyler groaned as he turned his head to look up at brendon.

"do i have permission to kiss you in a totally no homo way to steal the show for a bit?" brendon queried, not wanting to make the younger boy uncomfortable. he shrugged in response and propped himself up so he could get a better angle for the kiss.

"no homo," he mumbled before softly placing his lips against brendon's, not wanting to dive right into the intimate stuff so early. it was a quick kiss, only lasting a few seconds before they each retreated. tyler got off of brendon's lap and swam away a bit, motioning for him to follow as he continued into the deep end by josh and debby.

if tyler was honest he wasn't upset that josh and debby were kissing, that's what couples do. he wasn't jealous either because his feelings for josh were only skin deep, merely a feeling of physical attraction rather than emotional. he was upset with the way he could feel josh's eyes watching his every move in a protective manner. it was the way he could see the jealousy just by looking into josh's eyes. josh shouldn't be jealous, he has debby. he specifically told tyler that what they had wasn't anything more than a test run and that it wasn't about attraction towards each other. josh was being hypocritical and tyler was getting fed up with it.

"where's the bathroom?" tyler asked, hoping josh would volunteer to walk him to it.

"i'll show you," josh cleared his throat and brought his arm away from debby as he climbed out of the water and helped tyler up too. they dried off a bit before walking inside, tyler turning to josh with a grimace as soon as the sliding door was shut.

"what's got you all grumpy?" josh chuckled, leaning back against the counter with a roll of his eyes.

"you're such a hypocrite, it's actually funny," tyler scoffed and propped himself up so he was sitting in the counter beside josh.

"what the fuck are you talking about?"

"you tell me that you want to experiment with me but that you have no feelings and here you are getting jealous of brendon because he's my fake boyfriend since you fucked up and couldn't get your girlfriend's work schedule right!"

"that's not what this is about."

"oh, then tell me what it is about," tyler jumped down from the counter and stood in front of josh, looking up at him with his most threatening look.

"you're not scaring me tyler, back off. and i'm not upset at all, i just can't stop thinking about earlier and how much i want to finish what we started. it's difficult to be around you with all that on my mind."

all tyler could muster out was a small "oh" as his face flushed bright pink and he tilted his head down while keeping eye contact with josh through his eyelashes. a small giggle left his mouth and he bit his lip while leaning up but turned away when josh went in for a kiss.

"too bad," he laughed as he walked outside, josh trailing behind.

"took you guys long enough!" debby shouted as they approached the pool, her features contorting into a frown as tyler was hunched over, grabbing his stomach as if it were in pain.

"i'm not feeling so good all of a sudden so i think it'd be best if brendon and i left, it'd be a shame if you two got sick," tyler made up the most realistic excuse he could think of for the situation.

they all said their goodbyes and tyler and brendon thanked debby and josh as he rushed out of the house and to his own. once they got through the front door tyler collapsed against the wall.

"josh is such a fuckboy."

this chapter was long(ish) so yeah that's cool

so i had my twenty one pilots concert on tuesday and it was so so fun i had a great time!! if any of you guys are going you're gonna have an awesome time :)))
