"what about you, tyler?"
"what about me, josh?"
"isn't that gonna get a little uncomfortable?" josh chuckled as he motioned to tyler's obvious bulge, his eyebrows quirking up in a suggestive manner.
"i could deal with it yesterday, i can deal with it today," tyler said as he smiled at josh and gave him a thumbs up.
"i feel bad though, this would be the second time i couldn't help you."
"think of yesterday as a get out of jail free card," tyler shrugged and rolled onto his side so he could face josh.
"oh c'mon ty!"
"it's almost like you want to do this."
"and you don't?" josh teased, turning his head towards tyler.
"my throat hurts and i just wanna relax," tyler whined as he threw his hands above his head in exasperation.
"sorry about that," josh sniggered, standing up from his bed and putting his clothes back on. he started walking out of the room and tyler scrambled up to follow him, tripping over a few things in the process.
"wait up, your room is messy," tyler complained, jumping over stray clothes and trash before he finally caught up with josh.
"i think we may have some ice cream in the freezer. i'm not sure what kind though," josh spoke as he descended down the stairs with tyler trailing behind him. he opened up the freezer and moved some stuff around before he found the various pints of ice cream. "we have vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, half baked, and chocolate fudge brownie," he listed off and watched as tyler's face lit up and he smiled brightly.
"can i have more than one kind?" he asked excitedly. josh nodded and tyler giddily pushed him out of the way and grabbed the half baked, chocolate fudge brownie, and cookie dough. he balanced all three of them in his arms and carefully placed them on the counter, mentally congratulating himself as none of them toppled over. josh seemingly read his mind and handed him a large bowl and a spoon, holding one for himself as he watched tyler pry open the pints and began scooping the ice cream into his bowl.
"calm down bud, you're gonna have a stomach ache if you eat all of that," josh placed his hand over tyler's and helped him place the last scoop into his bowl, giving his hand a small pat as if he was telling him to move away and that it was his turn now. tyler scowled at josh but shoveled the ice cream into his mouth, he wanted to prove to josh that he could eat it all without feeling sick.
"calm down bud, you're gonna have a stomach ache if you eat all of that," tyler teased in a whiny voice, josh scoffing and rolling his eyes as he put the ice cream away anyways.
"first of all i have like half of what you have," josh pointed out and laughed as tyler's scowl deepened.
"first of all i have like half of what you have," tyler repeated in the same deep voice and giggled at his own impersonation of josh.
"ha ha, very funny."
"ha ha, very funny."
"what are we, in second grade?"
"what are we, in second grade?"
josh stayed silent after that, crossing his arms over his chest as he ate his ice cream and waited for tyler to speak up.
it was quiet for about three minutes before tyler couldn't take it anymore and he put his bowl on the counter and jumped up so he was sitting next to josh on it.
"oh c'mon josh, don't be such a baby!" tyler giggled and leaned up against josh's shoulder, bumping it with his own a few times.
"oh c'mon josh, don't be such a baby!" josh smirked as he teased tyler in an annoying high pitched voice.
"i don't sound like that!" tyler retorted, covering his mouth with his hands as he realized that he sounded exactly like that.
"i don't even need to mock you, you did that to yourself," josh laughed as tyler huffed grumpily but soon gave into the laughter, joining josh at making fun of himself.
"oh god, i sounded so needy when i said that!" tyler giggled and wiped away a few tears that had fallen from his eyes with all of the laughter.
"i'll never let you live that down," josh shook his head with a chuckle, his eyes landing on tyler's empty ice cream bowl. "holy shit! you actually ate all of it!"
"and i feel fine," tyler sassed back as he stuck his head up and placed his hands on his hips as he jutted them out to the side.
"tell me how you feel in about ten minutes, i'd like to hear you say the same then."
"oh, i will!"
and with that tyler hopped down from the counter and made his way to the living room, plopping down on the couch and searching for the t.v. remote. the t.v. switched on without his aid though and he was momentarily stunned by what had happened. but then he turned around and saw josh standing there with a remote in his hand and an amused expression on his face.
"i thought you had a magic t.v. for a second!" tyler said, his eyes following josh as he walked around the couch and sat next to tyler.
"sorry man, no magic t.v. here."
"way to ruin my dreams josh! i can't have anything nice, can i?" tyler sarcastically exclaimed as he threw his hand over his heart with a loud gasp.
"joshua william dun; ruining dreams since the womb," he played along, tyler rolling his eyes at the witty remark.
"tyler robert joseph; having his dreams ruined since the womb."
they both shared a few laughs before they started flipping through the stations in search of finding a show to watch.
"wait, i wanna watch this!" tyler chirped and grabbed the remote from josh so he couldn't change the channel.
"fixer upper?"
"yes, don't judge me you asshole."
"i thought only middle aged soccer moms watch HGTV."
"well then i guess i'm a middle aged soccer mom," tyler said with a shrug of his shoulders.
josh didn't say anything back and just laughed at the younger boy. josh had to admit, tyler had a good sense of humor. even if it was the dry, sarcastic type, it was still amusing.
"so what exactly is this show about? debby sometimes watches this channel but i can never tell the shows apart. there's like 30 different house hunters and everything seems the same."
"god josh, what did house hunters ever do to you?" tyler asked in an offended tone but josh could hear the giggle through his words.
as tyler explained the show josh was only listening just a little bit, he couldn't care less about what the show was about if he was honest. he just liked the way tyler became so happy and excited when asked about something he enjoyed. josh hummed along once tyler had finished, hoping that tyler didn't expect josh to actually watch the show.
as time went by though, josh became just as hooked as tyler was. he couldn't deny that it was a good show and that the house was really nice once they were done.
"i want a relationship like chip and joanna," tyler sighed, his voice dreamy and hopeful. "they're married, but they're also like best friends to each other, you don't see that very often anymore."
josh did agree with tyler on that. relationships nowadays were all about romantic attraction, no one seemed to care about how compatible they were as friends anymore. josh couldn't blame others for it though, he felt that way a bit with debby. yes, he loved her and she was stunning and an amazing person, but he wouldn't consider her his best friend. he wasn't sure who held that title, but he knew it wasn't debby.
