When you're 20 something you're told not to care
You don't need to dare
You're only 20 something
There's time along the way, but not right now.

But
Then you become 20 something and that means you should be somewhere else
You need to get on track
This is the time, to break your back
To fight back
You're in your 20 somethings

Look at other 20 somethings, mother says
Look at the way they dress
They can impress

Where are you at 20 something?
It's like you don't even care
Not ready to bear
The future that's not there
And will never be
Because you can't even dream

And yet I thought I shouldn't dare?
Or only care, so far as I'm allowed
So far as its approved
For a 20 something, that's not on the move.
