chapter five: a party

Elisa didn't like social interaction. So you can imagine the anger she felt when Tony dragged her along to some secret location only for it to be a venue.

"Why can't I celebrate your birthday?" He asked and Elisa raised an eyebrow.

"Because only three people besides the avengers legally know me and can show up," she protested and he smiled, rubbing the back of his neck, avoiding her gaze.

Elisa widened her eyes, her mind wandering.

"Are you-" she wasn't able to finish the question as they stepped into the party.

People were all gathered around talking and enjoying themselves. Until they walked in. At first they all cheered until they caught sight of Elisa.

She scanned the eyes and faces of people she saw and panic began to rise in her stomach. People were staring, she was visible, people were staring and she's visible.

"I bet you're all confused, but sixteen years ago,  I had an affair, and I wasn't aware of the life that was made from it until last year, this is my daughter, Elisa Stark," Tony announced and people smiled.

Elisa was shocked. She looked up at Tony and looked back around. People nodded and smiled as Tony put and arm around her shoulder and turned his head towards her ear.

"I didn't cross a line did I?" He asked and she shook her head.

"I'm just a bit shocked that's all," she said and looked to him.

"Well, now you can make friends with people who are like, alive," he smiled and she chuckled.

"You know I rarely speak to the dead," she smiled and he nodded.

"Yeah yeah you can't see the light for a week," Tony smiled.

"At least you were able to say your goodbyes," she smiled softly and Tony nodded.

"I'm forever in debt to you for that by the way," he said as he guided them down the stairs where everyone was.

People shook her hand, introducing themselves. She smiled politely having small conversations and what not.

"Ah Peter! Glad you could make it!" Tony smiled and Elisa widened her eyes, her heart stopped as she turned around. He was seeing her for the first time. She's visible and Peter was seeing her.

Her Peter. And she was caught up again in his eyes. He wore a nerdy shirt with a worn flannel, he had tired jeans and sneakers.

Straight out of Queens, she thought.

"Elisa, this is Peter," he introduced and leaned in her ear.

"He's Spider-Man," He said and Elisa widened her eyes.

"Really?" She asked and Peter raised his eyebrows, blinking a bit.

He was in a trance. She smiled and looked to Tony.

"Is this the friends you were talking about?" She asked and he shrugged.

"I don't know lot of kids," Tony gave a weak smile.

Elisa chuckled.

"You don't need to trail around me, go have fun with Mom," she smiled and shooed Tony off. He patted Elisa's shoulder and walked off, grabbing a glass of champagne as he made his way to Pepper who was making more connections.

"So uh, he has a kid," Peter spoke in a voice deeper than she knows it is.

"Are you faking a deep voice?" She asked and he smiled awkwardly.

"Uh-"

"Well it's fine, my dad wants me to make at least one friend so let's find some drinks," she smiled and they walked off to the food bar where there was red solo cups and a 2 liter bottle of root beer, the rest was alcohol for the adults.

Elisa chuckled at the bottles as she grabbed the root beer, pouring some in a cup and handing it to him, she poured herself one and turned to him.

"So Peter, is it just Peter or does a last name come with that?" She asked and he smiled.

"Peter Parker," he smiled and she nodded.

"Well Peter Parker, I love the onomatopoeia of your name," she spoke, looking around as people conversed.

"That's a stealth suit, are you an avenger?" Peter asked and Elisa shrugged.

"In training, I actually just came back from the hospital because of the last mission," she said and Peter nodded.

"What happened?" He asked and she pointed to her rib.

"This guy body slammed me into a glass table then threw me into the wall," she sighed, "I dislocated his shoulder, and busted his teeth and nose."

Peter nodded.

"I got this weapon distributer arrested, he was using Chitauri weapons and Ultron body parts and combining our technology with that," Peter said, trying to make himself look cool.

Elisa smiled and nodded.

"I know, I was apart of the investigation, and the webs with the note kinda gave your part away," she smiled and Peter blushed.

"Are you still in school?" She asked Peter.

"Yeah, I'm going to be a junior in August," he said and she nodded, "what school do you go to?"

"Oh I graduated high school already, I'm going to M.I.T in the fall," she said and Peter nodded.

"So you're going to be an engineer?" He asked and Elisa shook her head.

"After that, I'm going to Stanford for business and psychology," she said and Peter widened his eyes.

"Are you inheriting Stark Industries?" He asked.

"I don't know, Dad was talking about it a couple weeks ago, that's why I want to go into business, I don't want people trashing me and saying I don't know how to do my job," she said and Peter smiled, "so what about you Peter? What are your life goals?"

"Honestly, I just want to be an Avenger, save people, keep the world safe," he said and Elisa sipped from her cup.

"That's a brave decision, if that's you whole goal, you can stay at the base when you're out of school, of course you're going to eventually come out of the shadows as Spider-Man," Elisa pointed out.

"Yeah, but I want my high school experience to be as normal as possible," he said and Elisa nodded.

"Understandable, I would've liked to go to high school but I have a feeling that everyone would have been fake and it would've been hard for me to make real friends," she said and Peter nodded.

"Yeah and high school kinda sucks these days," he said and Elisa nodded.

"Yeah, the government is pushing the curriculum down the shitter and no one even cares about the lives of the students," she sighed and Peter nodded.

"Our school hasn't been threatened yet, so hopefully it stays safe," he said and Elisa chuckled.

"Oh no your school is safe twenty four seven, my dad has iron legion bots all around the schools in New York, they're in stealth mode," she said and Peter nodded.

"Well, that's actually assuring," he said and Elisa nodded.

"Yeah he's constantly blaming himself for Ultron and Loki, it bothers me that he wants to take on that weight," she sighed and Peter nodded.

"But he made Ultron," Peter pointed out.

"Ultron was made to be a shield around the earth, so alien invasions don't make it past the stratosphere," she argued, "hell, Banner and I both helped the programming, it was a dead weight and Ultron made himself come to life, he was set on causing the Avengers to go into extinction, then he got to idea of trying to wipe out the race to kill off the weak, it wasn't Tony's fault, if anything, if Loki didn't come in guns blazing, the world would be completely different."

Peter nodded as Elisa continued to ramble on.

When she finished, Tony walked over.

"Glad to see you two getting along," he smiled.

Elisa nodded.

"Yeah, thanks for this Dad," she smiled and Tony nodded.

"Uh, Peter, your Aunts here, she said that she needs you home for school tomorrow," he said and Peter nodded, finishing the soda.

Tony walked off again and Elisa turned to Peter.

"Do you have a phone? I'd like to hang out again," She asked and Peter nodded, his eyes wide, pulling out his phone and unlocking it. Elisa pulled hers out. The two swapped numbers, Elisa stole glances of him as she saved his number, a small smile on her face as they got closer.

"I'll walk you out too," she said and they walked off. Elisa felt her chest bubble as they stood at the door, a woman waving at the bottom of the stairs, she came up to greet them.

"Peter, are you ready to go?" She asked and Peter nodded.

"Uh yeah, this is Elisa, Tony's daughter," Peter introduced and Elisa stuck her hand out for his Aunt to shake.

"I didn't know he had a daughter, I'm May," she said and Elisa chuckled.

"He didn't know until last year, and nice to meet you," she responded with a smile

May nodded, chuckling as she looked at Peter with a look of approval.

"Well, Miss Stark, when you find yourself in Queens, my door is always open," she said and Elisa nodded.

"I'll remember that, thank you," Elisa spoke sweetly and looked to Peter.

"Text me when you're free," she smiled and waved them goodbye as they went down to Mays car.

Elisa turned around and saw Happy waiting for her.

"Stop flirting and get back to your party," he said and Elisa rolled her eyes.

"He's cute, what do expect?" She asked and he sighed.

"You've known him for about two hours," he said and Elisa smiled bashfully.

Yeah, two hours, she thought.

Elisa walked back into the party with a smile on her face.

She was finally going to learn Peter on a whole new level.
