Chapter 15: A Pass

   Y/N's POV

I walked over to Alex's house, Thomas by my side. Alexander had invited me over for food and conversation making, so...

Thomas scowled and crossed his arms as we walked. "What?" I asked, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.

   "I've got this feeling--"

   "Great..."

"--that Hamilton is up to no good with this get-together," Thomas finished.

"Will you relax?" I giggled, lightly nudging Thomas with my elbow, making him flinch slightly. "Alex is a friend. I guarantee you that he has no ulterior motive."

Thomas scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I hope you're right."

By then we had reached the Hamilton residence. I looked at Thomas with pleading eyes. "Please don't embarrass me," I said with a worried tone.

Thomas crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "I'll behave if he does."

I rolled my eyes also and knocked on the door.

Eliza opened the door with a smile. "Y/N!" she greeted happily. She looked at Thomas, her smile faltering slightly. I think that she was still salty with him for avoiding me. "Thomas."

"Eliza," Thomas said with a nod.

Eliza turned her attention back to me. "So, what brings you here?" she asked cheerfully.

"Well, I've come to see Alexander," I answered. "He wrote me a letter saying that we needed to have a talk. Whatever that means."

Eliza cocked her head to the side, confused. "Okay...I don't have the slightest idea on what he would need to tell you, but come on in!"

I stole a glance at Thomas, and I could practically see the gears turning inside of his head. He chewed on his lower lip as he started to look angry. "Freaking orphan..," he muttered, pushing past Eliza and storming inside.

I looked at Eliza and shrugged, following Thomas in.

   Thomas' POV

No. I couldn't let this happen.

There was only one thing that Hamilton could want to talk to Y/N about.

And that's that he was falling in love with her.

I pushed past his "wife" and stormed inside, looking for Hamilton.

After a moment of looking, I found him upstairs, writing like he was running out of time.

   Again.

"Hey, orphan," I hissed, very ticked off.

Hamilton wearily turned around, bags under his eyes. "What do you want?" he asked, squinting his eyes at me.

I walked up to his desk and leaned on it, pretending to think about something. "Hm...Oh, that's right. What did you intend on discussing with Y/N?"

Hamilton suddenly looked very nervous. "Th-that's none of your concern," Hamilton stuttered weakly, getting up from his chair. "And why are you here, anyway? I invited Y/N. Not you."

I chuckled and crossed my arms. "One, it is my concern. I'm not stupid, Hamilton. I know why you wanted to talk to her. And second, I got invited by her."

Hamilton crossed his arms, too. "Well, this is my house. And I would like you to leave."

I opened my mouth to object, but got cut off by Eliza's voice. "Alexander, come downstairs! Y/N is here!"

Hamilton glared at me and walked downstairs. I followed. I needed to keep an eye on that bast--

   Sorry...

Anyways, I followed him downstairs. We were greeted by a smiling Y/N. "Hey guys!" she chirped, glancing at the both of us.

   Hamilton better not touch her...

   Y/N's POV

I looked at Alexander. "So, what did you want to tell me?" I asked sweetly, crossing my arms over my chest.

Alexander but his lip and glanced at Eliza and Thomas. He looked back at me and smiled awkwardly. "Um...can I tell you in private?" he asked, fiddling with his emerald green coat.

Me, being the oblivious bean I was, didn't see anything wrong with that statement. "Sure," I replied, shrugging.

I was about to walk off with Hamilton when I saw Thomas shake his head. "I'm coming with you guys," he stated, glaring at Alexander.

Alex was about to object, but I cut him off. I looked at Thomas and said, "Thomas, if he needs to talk to me in private, then you need to respect that."

Thomas huffed and looked away. "Fine."

I smiled gratefully at him as Alex took my hand and led me away from Eliza and Thomas.

   Thomas' POV

What was I thinking? Just because Y/N told me to not follow them, I shouldn't follow them? Stupid...

I was ripped away from my thoughts by Eliza asking me a question. "Thomas, do you know what they're talking about, by any chance?"

I bit my lower lip. I wanted to tell her the truth of what I thought was unfolding a few rooms away, but that would crush her. I shook my head. "No idea."

   Eliza sighed dissapointedly.

There was a bit of awkward silence between us. Then I thought, 'I'm checking on Y/N. I don't care what she says.'

I was about to walk into the kitchen, where Y/N and Hamilton were talking, when Eliza grabbed my shoulders and pulled me back.

I looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "What the hell are you doing?" I snapped.

She pat my shoulders. "Alexander wants privacy. Who are we to go against his wishes?"

That made no sense to me whatsoever, but I just went with it. "You're right," I grumbled, crossing my arms.

That's when I heard a gasp from the kitchen, then crying a few moments later.

I was going in there even if it killed me. I stomped into the kitchen, and my eyes were shocked at what I saw.

   Y/N's POV

Alex pulled me into the kitchen, biting his lip like what he needed to say was the most embarrassing thing he'd ever say.

"So, what did you need to tell me?" I asked.

Alex leaned a little closer to me than I would've liked. "Y/N..," he said, putting his hands on my waist.

"Whoa, buddy. Can you not touch me there? That's reserved for Thomas only," I said, gently moving his hands away.

Alex kept leaning in and I kept backing away until my back was pressed against the wall. His lips were inches away from mine now. I wanted to push him away, but I thought that maybe he wasn't doing what I thought he was about to do.

   Unfortunately, I was right.

"I love you, Y/N..," he whispered, his lips continuing to get closer to mine.

I opened my mouth to object, but he took that opportunity to connect his lips with mine roughly.

I gasped through his lips and pushed him away. Tears rolled down my face as I turned away.

Thomas walked in, looking utterly outraged as Alex continued kissing me. He stormed up to Alex and grabbed him by the collar of the shirt and lifted him up. "This better be the last time I see you around Y/N. Understand?" he growled. Alex nodded nervously.

Thomas grabbed my hand and led me home, not saying another word to Alex.

I cried the entire way. Thomas kept trying to calm me down, but it was no use.

My mind kept replaying the scene again and again, and it made me scared.

Alexander wasn't my cup of tea friend-wise after that.
