Chapter 11: Moving
Y/N's POV
I woke up to someone knocking on my door.
Without even bothering to get changed or anything, I just hobbled over to the door, opening it slowly.
No one.
I figured that Thomas was leaving me a letter again, so I looked down on the front stoop, and, sure enough, there was a letter sitting there.
I struggled to get it open, since I was tired. But when I finally did, it said in neat handwriting:
My dearest, Y/N,
There is something that I would like to run by you. Please be at my house when you're done getting ready so that we can discuss it.
Lots of love,
T.Jeff
Wondering what he could have to tell me, I threw on some clothes, brushed my teeth, did my hair, and waltzed out the door.
I knocked on the door of Monticello in a rhythmic pattern, and Thomas opened the door almost immediately. "Hey, Y/N!" he said, his usual happiness radiating off of him.
"Hey!" I said back. "What did you want to tell me?"
Thomas suddenly looked nervous. "Um...come in. We can discuss it inside," he smiled.
"Okay..," I said, actually starting to get a bit worried. Thomas moved to the side so I could step inside.
I did, closing the door behind me. I turned to face Thomas, and when he didn't say anything for a while, I decided to ask him what he needed to tell me. "Thomas? What did you need to tell me?"
Thomas took a deep breath before asking me. "Y/N...I'm moving to New York for business purposes--"
He was cut off by me gasping.
"--but, I was wondering if you would like to come and live with me. I can't imagine life without you."
I thought for a moment. "I would love to!" I then looked around Monticello, and Lafayette was nowhere to be seen. "On a completely unrelated note, where's Laf?"
Thomas beamed. "Laf bought a house in New York, fairly close to where we're gonna be living. That is, if your dad is okay with it."
I smiled, but my face fell two seconds later. I knew that there was no chance that my dad would let me move in with Thomas. I smiled sadly. "I can ask him, but I doubt that he'll let me live with you."
Thomas nodded. "I understand. When you get your dad's answer, please come over to let me know."
I nodded and dashed out of the house to ask my dad. By the time I got to his study where he was silently writing, I was out of breath and panting like a dog.
My dad heard my heavy breathing and turned to look at me, an eyebrow arched with concern. "Y/N? Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I just need to ask you something," I said in between gasps.
Dad completely faced me. "Ask away, darling."
My anxiety made its appearance in my body. "Thomas is moving to New York...and I wanted to know if I could move in with him there. I can't imagine life without him."
As soon as the words escaped my mouth, my dad shook his head. "No can do, Y/N. You're not allowed to be that far away from me."
My blood ran cold. I immediately fell to my knees and began begging Dad. "Please, Dad!" I wailed. "Thomas is super important to me, and I don't know what I'll do without him!"
My dad smiled sadly. "I'm sorry. I guess you're gonna have to find a way to cope."
The dam that controlled my tears burst. Tears began flooding down my cheeks, and I began to sob. It sounded very ugly, night I add.
After a bit of this, my dad sighed. "Okay. I'll make you a deal."
I lifted my tear-stained face up to him. "Wh-what deal what that be?"
"I'll move to New York too. Clearly you can't survive without Thomas. I think my business is actually taking me there, too."
My heart lit up. "THANK YOU, DAD!" I yelled, embracing my dad in a rib-cracking hug. He made this "oof" type noise as I squeezed the life out of him.
When I released Dad, he smiled at me. "I hate it when I see you cry." He wiped a leftover tear from my face with his thumb.
I smiled again. "I'm gonna tell Thomas!" I squealed, dashing back to Monticello.
"THOMAS! THOMAS!" I shouted at the closed door of Monticello as I approached the mansion.
Thomas quickly opened the door, looking worried. "Y/N! Are you okay?"
I rushed up to Thomas, grinning from ear to ear. "I can go!"
Thomas' grin was wider than mine. He picked me up and spun me around. He kissed my forehead softly. "You should probably get packing~," he purred.
I nodded excitedly, running back to my mansion. I think I could've won an award for how I ran that day.

I sprinted back to Monticello, a suitcase filled with the essentials for moving rolling behind me. Thomas was waiting for me outside, and he also had a suitcase. "You ready, hon?" (I just realized that I was spelling "hon" wrong this whole time, but I'm too lazy to change it, soooo...)
I nodded. "Dad should be out in a minute."
Sure enough, Dad came out a few minutes later, also rolling a suitcase behind him.
"You ready, Dad?" I asked, jumping up and down.
My dad nodded and looked at our mansion. He sighed thoughtfully. "I'm gonna miss this place," he said sadly.
I looked at it too. "Yeah. Me too."
After a bit of silently reminiscing, I tugged both Thomas and my dad to where Thomas' fancy carriage was sitting.
We all got on, and the carriage started moving. I clapped my hands excitedly, while Dad and Thomas chuckled and rolled their eyes.
"Are you guys excited?" I asked. "I am!"
Thomas shrugged. "Yeah. I guess so. The only downside is that Hamilton's heading back to New York today too, since we work on the same staff and all of that."
My eyes lit up. "Yay! Hamilton's awesome!"
Thomas grumbled something unintelligible and crossed his arms.

A day and a half later, me and Thomas had finally arrived at our new home. It wasn't as big as Monticello, but it was still pretty big.
I smiled at Thomas, and he returned the smile.
That's when I realized something. "Hey, Dad?" I slowly addressed my father.
"Yes?"
"Where are you gonna stay?"
"Oh! Alexander and I have been discussing this matter for quite some time, since we were pretty sure that this is where the business would take us. Since he already lives in New York, he has agreed to let me stay with him."
I smiled. "That's great, Dad!"
***
After getting Dad situated and me and Thomas unpacking our things, I was exhausted! I flopped onto the nearest bed, Thomas doing so too, which happened to be the bed I had flopped on.
Now, we had discussed which rooms would be ours so it wouldn't be awkward, and I realized that I was sleeping in Thomas' bed!
"Oh, crap," I muttered to myself, blushing a bit as I got up to walk to my room.
Then I felt a pair of very strong arms pull me back down onto the bed. Snuggling up against me, was Thomas.
"Stay~," he purred, kissing my cheek and pulling me close to his chest. "I'm lonely, and you're warm~."
I sighed, smiling as I rolled my eyes. I cuddled Thomas back and pecked his lips before drifting off in his arms.
