Aftermath

(^Amy Cahill)

Meanwhile...

"Where are they?" Ian snapped, his smooth British accent growing choppier as he became increasingly impatient as time dragged on.

"We don't know yet. Nellie was supposed to report back about her and Amy's whereabouts a while ago." Fiske explained, looking marginally more unperturbed than anyone else.

"Yeah, calm down Cobra. They'll be here soon." Dan countered half-heartedly, too bored to conjure up a decent comeback.

"Man, we've been waiting here forever. The hell are those chicks up to?" Jonah complained from the couch where he was lounging lazily. Beside him was Hamilton, who just groaned.

"Quit being such babies and stop whining." Sinead scolded. She was perfectly fine, having found something to take apart and examine before piecing it back together into another possible invention.

As if cued, Nellie came bursting in through the door, heaving and beaming all the same. Her radiant grin drew odd looks from the group scattered in the living room. She seemed suspiciously excited, and knowing Nellie, that never brought good news. The last time she looked this overjoyed, they'd been forced to eat live octopus, or "exotic Asian cuisine," as Nellie had so eloquently put it.

"Amy has arrived!"

"About time." Someone grumbled, clearly cranky from all the waiting.

Ignoring the backlash, she continued, sweeping her arms towards the door in a grand motion and announcing dramatically, "Please welcome, the one, the only..."

"Amy!"

Five seconds passed. Then ten, then thirty.

"So where's the magic?" Jonah deadpanned, completely unamused. Nellie ignored him.

After a full minute of silence, Nellie groaned and called, "You promised you wouldn't resist!"

"I'm not resisting, I'm stalling," another feminine voice called back from the porch.

"I'm going in." Nellie announced as she marched outside again.

Her yells were heard by everyone in the household, and probably the entire neighborhood as well, as they were followed by Amy's loud protesting and her banging on the walls as Nellie dragged her in. Or attempted to at least.

Amy put up quite a fight, struggling against Nellie's grip on her waist. She desperately didn't want the entire group of branch leaders to see her in such clothing. Not because it was embarrassing to be seen wearing such, but because she wouldn't be able to gauge their reactions. It was her only leverage – being able to decipher expressions. She didn't do well in front of a small amount of kind people; how was she supposed to survive having an audience of the most ruthless people in the world?

Nellie decided it would be a good idea to tickle Amy in an effort to lessen the tension, which caused the latter to break down in fits of shrill shrieks and giggles.

The scene was pure Cahill; chaos and confusion. Nellie had Amy writhing on the floor with trembling fits of hysterical laughter, Sinead watched on in amusement, Hamilton and Jonah was as baffled as can be, Dan was cracking up, laughing just as hard, perhaps harder at his sister's suffering, Ian attempted to look bored, and Fiske just stood by, waiting patiently for the short banter to end.

Nellie was the first to offer a peace treaty, having had enough of Fiske shooting daggers at her from behind. She picked up a weak Amy up from the floor, sighing.

"C'mon kiddo, get up."

"Yeah, yeah, I got it." She replied. Slowly getting to her feet, Amy patted herself down and pulled down the bottom of her tank top, which had risen up to reveal a sliver of her stomach from Nellie's tickling spree. Forgetting about her appearance for a while, she looked up at the group in front of her, surprised at their expressions.

She could pick out mainly shock, except Sinead, who seemed to be enjoying the situation immensely.

The tension and awkwardness of the room was thick enough to slice with a butter knife before Hamilton spoke up.

"You have a figure?!"

Sinead gasped in horror and slapped him upside the head.

"You doofus." She growled.

Amy laughed nervously and shot Nellie a distress signal with a side glance. She watched in disappointment as the au pair shook her head in amusement.

Her gaze travelled from the bickering pair to Jonah and Ian.

The superstar looked at her with....awe? She couldn't make it out to be any distinct expression before her attention drifted to Ian, who had an eyebrow raised and looked slightly peeved off.

From corner of her eye, Amy caught a slight movement as Dan shifted on the couch. He had his eyes narrowed as he searched the group in front of him, looking somewhat annoyed that Amy was the cause of such discord.

In a split second, his expression changed as he turned to Nellie, flashed her a proud grin, and gave her two thumbs-up. Nellie returned the affection, making Amy groan in exasperation. She mentally face-palmed at the immaturity of the people before her.

She knew, or rather, she had a gut feeling, that this situation would quickly escalate to a catastrophe if either Sinead or Hamilton was provoked any further, or if the other trio was kept hanging without an explanation. So, she did what any 17-year-old Madrigal leader would do. She yelled. Loud.

"HEY!"

Over the years of dealing with Dan and his antics, Amy had quickly gotten used to raising her voice beyond what was considered normal. The result of this? Some very surprised and frightened people. And possibly some slightly damaged hearing.

The sudden scream rendered everyone quiet, as well as yielding some gaping faces. After all, it's not all the time you hear someone like Amy yell as loud as she did.

Very shocking. In the silence, Ian spoke up.

"Care to explain?" He asked dryly, motioning to her appearance.

Amy sighed as Nellie chuckled. One hell of an explanation, coming up.
