A/N: last update for quite a bit. I'll be updating Friday or during the weekend for my stories because this week I have midterms so I won't have time to write out some chapters. So updates will be spotty.

During the trip down the escape tunnel Ren ended up ditching most of his many clothing layers. It was then when he realized how impractical his black heavy attire was.

He found himself emerging from the tunnel with only his long sleeved black undergarments and his cloak. Ren ultimately decided to ditch the mask and for once he could feel the cool air blow onto his face.

It felt nice, even though it wasn't like the warm sun he would often run under in his childhood. Ren remembers how his mother and father would watch fondly as he skipped along the fields. It was an innocent time, one where he was actually happy.

Then the betrayal happened. Snoke had greeted him as he sat alone in his room.

"What's wrong child?"

"W-where are my parents?"

"Gone."

After that he had ran away with Snoke to the kingdom of Starkiller where they had taken over as master and apprentice. During his first years after training he found joy in launching attack on D'Qar. It was vengeance against his parents, the ones that left him all alone.

Ren often liked to remind himself of that, a way to justify the means of killing many innocents. He winced at the thought of his cruel actions. It was quite strange for him to be questioning his motives but for gods sake he ditched his only protection to find a girl he met not so long ago.

It felt weird without his mask, his face and all the emotions with it, naked to the public eye. In that moment he longed for the cool metal to cover his face once again.

But that was gone, left along with the rest of his clothing and sanity.

"You're insane Kylo. You don't even know where the hell she is..."

Muttering under his breath, it soon dawned on him. D'Qar was massive and Rey was just one person. One person who he didn't know where they were.

Great, just great.

"Rey? Rey open up!"

"Who is it?"

"Finn."

A look of shock spread over Rey's face and she almost ran towards the door, ignoring the tear stains running down her cheeks.

"H-how'd you get here?"

"Rey what happened to you?"

"Finn why are you here?"

"I'll tell you as soon as you answer my question."

She made a face before wiping at her face once again. Her eyes still remained red.

"It's nothing Finn, don't worry about it..." Rey went to tuck the necklace back into her tunic. "Now tell me, why are you here?"

"Poe and some of the Resistance Knights came to get me and your droid before the First Order could. Who knows what they'll do to me, I'm a traitor."

"You're not to me. Don't call yourself that," Rey gave him a small smile and he nodded.

"Thank you Rey...now tell me what's going on."

In response she simply narrowed her eyes at him, shaking her head slowly.

"Like I said, it's nothing."

"Stop lying."

Rey didn't answer, instead putting her hand to the door to shut it.

"Rey..."

"I'm sorry..."

And with that Finn was met with a closed door and the memory of Rey's sad eyes.

"You can't just keep avoiding the subject Rey."

No response seemed to come and Finn walked away, both defeated and concerned.

"Excuse me?"

Ren spoke almost slowly and carefully. Scared that someone will realize he had no place in the kingdom of D'Qar. That he was the monster that often terrorized the kingdom, and sparked fear in everyone's hearts.

"Yes?"

"Have you seen a girl? About 5 foot something with brown hair?"

"You described most of the population."

"She has three buns?"

The person made a face, going quiet for a moment.

"I think I saw her yesterday."

"You did? Where?"

"Why should I tell you?"

"She's my friend and I've been looking for her."

They made a face before finally giving Ren a much anticipated answer.

"I saw her heading near the castle."

"As in the castle of Queen Leia?"

They nodded.

"T-thank you."

The person nodded once again before heading off and Ren froze at the realization of the fact that the queen was his mother.

He didn't really want to see her again. But did he really have a choice?

No.

So then he headed off towards the castle, hoping that what the villager said was true. Participating in a wild goose chase to find some scavenger wasn't something he'd expect he would ever do. But here he was.

"I'm coming Rey. I'm coming for you whether you like it or not."

Thus his journey soon began.

Rey didn't leave her room. Often finding meals by her door and eating them in silence. Poe, Finn, and even BB-8 tried their hand at getting her to come out.

Nothing has worked so far. So with a heavy heart she headed to bed in silence. Pulling her hair down from its buns she sighed as her fingers ran through the locks.

"You're a mess Rey," she whispered under her breath, looking at her reflection. "You're a big big mess who's getting worked up for nothing."

Casting one last look at herself she climbed into bed. Rey pulled the sheets over her body and head, hiding herself in the darkness. It was quite peaceful, but that peace was soon interrupted. A loud knock filled her ears.

Jerking upwards she turned to face where the sound came from.

"Who is there?"

There was no response.

"I said, who is there?"

It was silent at first then a response came in the form of another knock. It had come from the window.

"This is what I get for sleeping on the floor nearest to the ground," she muttered before turning to open the window. The crisp air hit her face softly and poking her head out, she called out to the knocker once again.

"Who's there?"

"It's me."

"And who's me?"

The figure stepped out from the shadows and Rey almost fell off the bed from shock.

It was Ren.
