Chapter 7
I began to investigate. The Ministry didn't like that. War is near and I'm playing games.

Kirin looked in the distance as she felt a gust of wind brush her skin even though it made a useless effort to try and see past the thick smoke. Kirin has only heard stories of the Fissure, about the monsters that lingered inside and the people who ventured in never came back . . . or so the stories went.
Jaeger put a hand on her shoulder and began to walk around the edge of the boat, his fall protected by rusted railings that wrapped itself around almost every edge of the boat save the entrances and ways off the barge. Kirin followed slowly behind him, her heart ready to burst out of her chest. How did her simple life of trying to ruin a criminal conglomerate turn to something she would have to risk her life for? Her just being there was a risk in itself. But all this allows for a great story, She thought.
Other people began to look over the edge as a sudden jolt in the barge thrusters moved them forward. Kirin decided to do the same, her gaze falling and getting lost in the bright depths of the Fissure. The cliffside slowly began to move alongside the barge, so it seemed, as the ship began to pick up speed on the giant gravity lane. Its structure groaned in protest as the pressure and weight shifted as the vessel began to move faster. The soothing roar of the engines hummed a gentle tune as they began to sail.
Bor gathered himself the best he could as the crushing pressure in his chest left him gasping when he landed. He did his best to keep the cough that was clawing at his throat in but a couple escaped him.
He stumbled towards the edge but caught himself soon after on a giant boulder. He looked over the edge but as he expected there was just a void of yellow smoke. Bor began to become one of many people who believed the Fissure was endless and there was no one to prove him, or anyone, wrong.
A great shadow began to form in the smoke to the right of Bor. He took notice of it and hid behind the boulder that caught him, only peeking his head out to lessen his presence. The shadow kept growing and eventually a large metal vessel emerged.
The hairs on the back of his neck began to stand as his suspicions were right. If only Saib and Xion were here to relish in his discovery, he'd be able to tell them they were wrong and they should just listen to him but this was his mission now.
Bor readied himself to jump. He checked his Starcanum reserves but felt his pool almost depleted. He would have to lay low until he regained his power and strength. As much as he would love to arrest and terminate everyone on the ship, he couldn't do so in his weakened state let alone that he was by himself.
As the vessel began to pass Bor started to notice the length of the ship which seemed never ending.
Focusing what Starcanum he had left, he felt the air around him began to swirl as he lifted himself with a force enough to lift him to the railings of the ship. If it weren't for his gloves, the rusting rails would have cut deep into the palms of his hands.
As he hung from the railing, he peeked through a crack in the railing and saw there were guards patrolling the top of the ship, he also assumed they were patrolling the inside as well. He began to shuffle towards the end, holding back the burning in his chest making him want to grunt and let go. Bor peeked through another crack in the railing and watched as a pair of guards slowly strolled past where he was. He slowly pulled himself up and looked over to make sure he was clear. Instinctively, he used a gust of air to help him over the railing, landing from the tip of his toes to the heels of his feet to transfer the energy evenly to remain silent. Not even a thud sound from his feet landing onto the metal.
He quickly put his back on a wall and analyzed the layout of the top of the ship. He found a door next to him a few feet away. He rushed for it as silently as he could, his body as flush as he could get it to the wall and his feet thudding ever so silently.
Bor's motion stopped as he heard voices coming from behind the door. His vision blurred as he focused the lowest amount of Starcanum into his hands, forming long needle like icicles even though he preferred daggers. He stood waiting in front of the door with his ice needles ready. When the door opened, two men laughed and then saw him with wide eyes. But before they could do anything, Bor made a swift movement that stuck the needles into their throats. He then grabbed their collars and threw them overboard one by one.
Bor heard more conversation ready to turn the corner and he bolted for the door, closing it before they could see, he hoped.
He found himself in a green tinted corridor. A lot of brown was present because of the rust that seemed to be spreading itself in the vessel like a virus. Pipework spread all overhead and some bent onto the bulkheads of the ship. It almost seemed like the ship was gonna fall apart any moment; that only glue and cheap labor kept this ship afloat.
Bor slammed his weight into the bulkhead and clutched his chest as his heart began to claw at his chest. He gritted his teeth as if it would stop the cries that were trying to escape. And it did at the cost of having blood rush to his head making him see stars streak across his vision.
His breathing slowly became regular but he now had a pounding headache and he felt waves of nausea wash over him every now and again. The consequences when an Ursu uses all their Starcanum. Bor held his stomach, putting pressure on it to make it feel better. He hurried to find a place he could rest but everywhere he went, he couldn't find a place good enough.
Another set of voices was approaching him from around the corner. Bor checked his options which were to walk all the way back or try and pass them. He quickly made his decision and took off his hood and his mask. His back straightened and he did his best to seem like part of the crew. When he rounded the corner he passed a man and what seemed like a teenage girl. Bor kept his gaze straight as an arrow but nodded to them for a brief moment. As he got further away he looked behind him as much as his peripherals would let him and swore he saw the girl look at him before they turned the corner. He hurried his pace, almost to a run, as he didn't wanna take any chances. He found another door that seemed different from the rest. Bor realized that the humming of the engines was getting louder the further he went so he made the assumption it was the engine room. He was right.
Bor opened the door and closed it. When he turned he saw the magic and complicated machinery the vessel had in order for it to work. There were two massive cylindrical tubes that were tilted a slight degree with a blue essence inside with bright glowing lights swirling about. At the center of the room were gears surrounded by a bright blue glow giving the room its bright blue characteristics. The gears spun in different directions from the other. Limping across the catwalk and down the stairs, Bor found a few coils underneath and collapsed. His vision quickly went black.
