twenty two│butterfly kiss
57*1 waterridge drive. meet us there in 15. was all the text from Kayla the next day read. Kyle and Colin were both tired from yesterday so they both took a day off work and were in bed. I didn't have school either since it was teacher's work day so I borrowed Colin's car and drove to the address, which turned out to be the warehouse I saw the other day. Turns out they trust me enough to tell me the address, I think and the thought makes me feel weirdly excited.
"Hey!" Kayla screamed when I entered, "I'm so glad you came!" I smiled back at her contagious enthusiasm. Everyone was in the kitchen, leaning on the counters and Valerie, sitting on the kitchen island. None of them brought up the phone call yesterday, but I had the feeling they were all wondering about it. I wasn't ready to talk about it yet though so I kept ignoring the topic.
"Can we go to the park or something?" Brook whines, "this is boring!"
"Fine, I have to call someone but everyone meet at the van in ten minutes," Jayden commands, before sliding his phone out of his pocket and walking out of the kitchen. Everyone left the kitchen one by one to get ready until it was only me and Adrien left.
"Don't think I forgot what happened that day. What happened? Why did you leave after the phone call? Did something happen to your parents?" Adrien questions, not even hiding his suspicions. I gulp, I had been hoping he forgot about that, but remembering the concern in his eyes that day, I decided to tell him.
"My parents..." I started, and told him the entire story. From the time they left to when they came back yesterday. Adrien listened quietly as I told him everything and squeezed my hand, encouraging me to go on everytime I stopped. I trembled as tears started to flow. This was the first time I had ever opened up about my parents to anyone but Adrien, I somehow trusted. Adrien wrapped his hands around me and held me as I cried. I sobbed into his chest, my hands clutching his jean jacket. He quietly held me in silence, rocking me back and forth in a hug. When I was empty from tears, we both sat together, hand in hand, on the kitchen chairs. Adrien leans in so both of our foreheads touch.
"Thank you," I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
"For what?" He replies, his voice low and husky.
"For listening to me," my voice wavers slightly, still recovering from crying.
Adrien leans in and gently kisses my lips. I freeze in excitement and shock but recover quickly and kiss him back. It was a soft butterfly of a kiss, a delicate one, making it have so much meaning.
"Wait stop, but you like someone," I say, pulling away. "You said yesterday," I add, noting his confused expression.
He laughs quietly, "That was you silly. Would you be my girlfriend?" My eyes widen and my heart flutters as I lean back in to kiss him again. He places his hands around my waist and I tangle my hands around his strong neck. "So yes?"
"Yes!"
"I mean, I'm happy for you guys but get a room!" Someone screams from the doorway and I turn to see Jayden leaning on the door frame, watching us. My cheeks turn bright red and I jump back, away from Adrien. Jayden chuckles and shakes his head, before turning to walk out the door.
Adrien shoots me a smile and whispers, "if you ever want to talk, I'm here," into my ear and I know he's talking about my parents. I give him a grateful look and walk out the front door, where everyone was waiting for us in the van.
a/n: finally what we've all been waiting for!
