Chapter 5 - Comforts and Nightmares

Sans's P.O.V

We arrived at our two-storey house after getting a bumpy ride by Papyrus who carried both me and Frisk here. You see, Snowdin is a quiet little town filled with lots of snow. We normally lived here for a very long time (but not too long). The town has a shop, inn, library and a diner called Grillby's.

"HERE WE ARE, CREATURE. WELCOME TO OUR HUMBLE HOME!" Papyrus announced, only getting a loud sneeze from Frisk. "OH DEAR, LET'S GET YOU INSIDE."

He put me down first so I can unlock the front door. Once opened, we stepped into the cosy home while Papyrus sets Frisk down on the green couch before rushing upstairs to grab some blankets. I locked the door when I heard another sneeze. I turned to Frisk who's shivering uncontrollably and wiping her little black nose. Grinning, I took off my jacket and placed over her small body. Frisk looked at the jacket then at me before snuggling into it. 'Arceus, she looks so cute with my jacket on.'

"CREATURE! I HAVE BROUGHT YOU SOME BLANKETS!" Papyrus shouted, carrying about five blankets and wraps them around her in layers. "HOW ARE YOU FEELING?" Frisk gave him a thumbs-up with her little paw, "GREAT, I'LL COOK SOME SPAGHETTI FOR YOU TO MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER!" He turned around and stomped into the kitchen to start cooking.

While he was cooking, I decided to sit down next to Frisk. She looked at me for a moment before burying herself deep in the layers of blankets to keep herself warm and cosy. I grabbed the remote and switched it on to watch some TV shows. While watching, I felt the presence thicken like something was looking at me. I turned my head and noticed that Frisk was staring at me.

"Somethin' wrong, kid?" I asked.

"Oh, uhh... sorry, I didn't mean to stare you like that." She mumbled, turning away from me. I looked her face and saw a bit of pink, is she... blushing? 'Wow, she looks so adorable when she's blushing like that.'

"CREATURE, SANS. FOOD IS READY!" Papyrus exclaimed, walking out of the kitchen with two plates of spaghetti. He handed one to me while he sits down in front of Frisk with her plate. "I'M GOING TO FEED YOU, CREATURE." He picked up the fork, scooped up a bit and hold up to her mouth. "SAY 'AHH' CREATURE." Frisk stared at the fork before opening her small mouth and took a bite of it. Suddenly, she gagged and coughed. "OH DEAR, ARE YOU OKAY?" He asked with concern. Frisk waved her paw to him, signalling that she's okay. "ALRIGHT, LET'S TRY AGAIN." He scooped another one and feed her slowly so he doesn't choke Frisk from it. Frisk slowly chewed the pasta and swallowed it, her face scrunched a bit to show her expression to him, "DO YOU LIKE IT?" She nodded to him, making him smile in delight. "WOWIE! SHE LIKES IT, BROTHER!"

"Of course she did," I replied, knowing that Frisk express that way was she was faking to him that his cooking was indescribable. She nearly got sick though, poor Frisk...

"WELL, IT'S TIME THAT SHE NEEDS TO REST NOW. BUT WHERE IS SHE GOING TO SLEEP?" He questioned. "

"She can sleep in my room," I suggested. "I'll take the couch."

"YOUR ROOM? SANS, YOUR ROOM IS SO MESSY WITH YOUR SOCKS LYING AROUND THE PLACE!" Papyrus barked.

"You did realize that I'm too lazy to clean up, man. I'm just really bone-tired." I joked with a pun, making Frisk giggling behind her paws.

He growled in annoyance, "ENOUGH WITH YOUR HORRIBLE PUNS, SANS! NOW GET THE CREATURE TO BED!" He turned around and stomps upstairs to his room and shut the door behind.

I sighed and turned my head to stare at Frisk surprisingly asleep. Her breathing soft and quietly, her small body raising up and down each time she breathes. She looks so damn cute... I carefully picked her up and she's very light about 14.3 lbs. Heh, I have the same weight as her. I carried her upstairs, passed Papyrus's room and walked down the hallway until I reached my room. I opened my door and walked inside before carrying Frisk to my bed - well, a mattress I should say. I grabbed my pillow from the ground and dusted it before placing it on the bed. Finally, I placed her down gently without waking her up from disturbing. With a small smile under my mask, I turned around to leave and shut the door behind me.

Frisk's P.O.V

I slept in through my dream world. Silence filled the room, it was relaxing that I didn't want to wake up from my peaceful sleep. Until midnight, I began to sweat and then tossing and turning in my sleep. My dreams began to change into nightmares, where the trainers were yelling at me, calling me a monster. Around me were their fainted Pokemon, cuts were made on their body with blood dripping and spreading across the ground, eyes blank from death and gape mouths leaking with rabies. I was crying and then a Pokémon appeared in front of me with a wicked smile and held up a sharp knife at me before plunging it into me. I shot up from my dream with a high-pitched squeal.

"Kid!" A loud voice yelled from downstairs, as thundering steps make its way to the door and burst the door open. Sans was standing in the doorway and saw me crying. He hurried over to embrace me in comfort. Feeling his short arms around me kinda feels safe and soothing. I turned my head and buried in his shirt sobbing.

"Shh... it's okay, kiddo. I'm here..." Sans whispered in my large ear while one of his hands rubs small circles on my back. I sniffle a bit and nuzzle into his chest again, enjoying his gentle pats he's giving me. He pulled back to look at my face and surprised how red and puffy they look from crying. "Kid, what's wrong?" He asked softly, wiping my tears away gently.

"I-I-I had a b-bad d-dream..." I wept, feeling his arms tightened around me a bit.

"Could you tell me what you saw?" He asked like he wants to know what was happening in my dreams.

"There's... people... they... were yelling at me... and... called me a 'monster' because... I 'killed' them." I explained softly. I noticed the silence filling the room and looked up to see Sans with no eyes but dark hollows behind the mask.

"Killed them? What made you do that?" He asked quietly.

"I didn't, I was lonely... and they wouldn't let me stay with them. I'm so scared and alone..." I buried my face in his shirt and sob. I felt his hands stroking me again.

"Kid, no matter what, you're very welcome to stay here if you want." He offered.

I lifted my head to look at him, "Really?"

"Yeah, Papyrus and I will look after you... that way you're not alone." He said, stroking my soft brown hair.

"Alright, thank you, Sans." I smiled and gave him a hug.

"No prob." He replied, feeling a little uncomfortable at first but he did return hug though. He tucked me back in bed and pat my head before I doze off to sleep.

"Goodnight, kid." He whispered, and the room again to get back to sleep.
