Chapter 37: Two of a kind
"Good luck, Jungkook. And just to let you know, no sore losers. I don't want to hear you complain in bed~" Jimin added as the younger smiled and pulled his hand away to distribute the deck of cards.
"Hmm... We'll see about that. But before we begin, take off that sweater." Jungkook insisted, making the older's eyes widen.
"What? Why?" Jimin asked, looking at his hands while he wore the sweater. "There's nothing wrong with this.."
"Yes there is, remember last time we played against eachother? You cheated and I don't know how but you did. So this time, take off that sweater for just in case." Jungkook responded, making Jimin take a moment before deciding to strip out of his sweater. Leaving him with his white tank T-shirt over his torso. Jungkook didn't realize it at first but as he looked at Jimin, he suddenly noticed Jimin had huge fresh cuts along his wrists and old scars from cuts before.
"Jimin..."
"Leave it alone." Jimin replied instantly while Jungkook handed out the cards for their round of Texas hand 'em.
"Okay..." Jungkook replied in worry. He set the main deck of cards down after adding the cards of the board and setting up the poker chips. "Leave it alone... How can I? Those scars are just calling for my attention I just can't stop looking at it... Why doesn't he tell me these things? He is my boyfriend and he should atleast try to open up a bit more too..." Jungkook thought in his head as he gazed up at Jimin.
"Jungkook... What are thinking about?" Jimin asked as Jungkook locked eye contact with his boyfriend. Letting out a chuckle soon after.
"The fact that we just started dating today and you suddenly want to bet my virginity." Jungkook lied, letting out a chuckle while Jimin cocked his head to the side, hiding his wrists under the table.
"A bet you agreed to~ you know how good I play poker.. You brought this upon yourself, Baby boy~" Jimin added. "You secretly want me to touch you, Jungkook. Don't lie. You aren't so innocent as you may seem."
"Ah, stop let's start now." Jungkook added, gazing down at his cards. For him, it felt like he hasn't played in a long time that he almost felt completely new to this game. Jungkook set his two hole cards down and looked up to see Jimin's game face on. The man gave the younger a stare while Jungkook was caught up in his gaze.
The two started off the game in pure silence, no teasing or even a sound. Jimin tapped his poker chip against the table as he bit his bottom lip softly, giving Jungkook such a seductive look. Jimin seemed to claim that Jungkook was the one who truely wanted to lose so Jimin can touch him, but it was really Jimin who set up the whole bet. Just like he had this all planned before.
"Funny... You said I brought this one upon myself but you alone thought of the bet. For what reason? How many other people did you play this bet with?" Jungkook questioned, showing no emotions as he gazed at a 'one pair' in his poker hand.
Jimin set down a card to the board and looked up at Jungkook once more. Jimin did all these seductive and hot, possessive faces on purpose to throw the younger off. "I never brought in sex and Poker at the same time. That's not the type of guy I am. I just played this as bet in hopes of throwing you off and ruining the game for you, but you were all in~" Jimin responded, setting his card down and rolling his dirty blonde hair back. "A Baby Boy like you should understand what danger is when it meets you in the face... Yet you accepted the bet and came running in for the trap. Like an innocent and pure bunny you are."
"You know, it's never too late to change the bets." Jungkook added but Jimin was quick to deny.
"Oh no.. I like it, we may be a couple now and having sex seems too fast but there's a fine line that separates love and of course a rule to the game~ you never change your blind during the game but you can always have a round where you add more onto it. Would you want me to add onto my bet?"
"Jimin... You know if you add onto the blind, I'll have to raise my bet up too." Jungkook mentioned. Trying to maintain a calm and relaxing face that showed no fear to his opponent.
"I love a good challenge~" Jimin added, thinking of another bet for the blind as Jungkook felt a little nervous. So far, his cards made no sense since he hasn't played in a long time and tried his best to forget about his gambling days.
"I haven't played in so long.." Jungkook mentioned as Jimin looked up again from his cards.
"Poker is a game of skill and luck. Just play your cards right and you'll be fine. Try to focus, Baby Boy~" Jimin whispered, again tapping his poker chip on the table. Going by the rhythm of a raindrop that was starting to beat against the windows. Showing it will rain soon.
"Your whole mood changes when we play Poker. I always wondered how my Father played.. Was he just like you? Good at the game while keeping a straight face?" Jungkook asked as Jimin suddenly darted his eyes up at Jungkook, almost breaking focus.
"He was just a peach..." Jimin responded, he can tell Jungkook wanted to smile at the words Jimin mentioned about his Father.
"My Mother... She never liked this side of him, she told him there was ways to find money to pay off debts that were stirred by family deaths. Yet he did bring home money to pay them off. I was so happy he took this opportunity and I eventually started teaching myself how to play Poker so I can be just like him. A big help to rhe family too." Jungkook added. "Yet... I never knew one day it would be the end of him...."
"Such a shame... I'm really sorry to hear about your father. There's always idiots in the club who carry weapons incase they lose. Some sore losers out there, some would even put their whole life on the line. Yet, I don't know what bet your Father put in that day. He could have died from too much alcohol or someone must have hurt him. The distance these people would go to win..." Jimin mentioned. "I was at home... Never knew he was gone after that night he stopped coming to gamble. For all this time, I thought he served his purpose and no longer needed to play... Or even, moved to play off in some other club."
"Thank you for telling me about him.. I miss him, but then at times I still wonder what happened that night... Too bad no one knows. Even the security guards!" Jungkook then let out an exhale as he took up a card and looked at it blankly. "Now that's out of the way... I always wondered... What made you gamble in the first place?"
"Isolation..." Jimin mentioned, gazing up at Jungkook while the two took a moment and looked into eachother's eyes during the game. Still not trying to give off emotions. "I had no purpose... My Father and my Mother was gone.. No one wanted to adopt me since I was going to come of age soon so, I spent lonely nights at my foster home. Talking to myself and thinking about some 'future' I longer to have but then.. I started to learn how to play different variations of Poker with a deck of cards and Poker chips from a foster home parent who would gamble. I took it as a fun game so every night I would gamble, meet someone new, go against others and win a lot. I got myself a penthouse as soon as I came of age, got myself a well paying job while still in college. All I had to do was just pull a few strings for it."
"So you were only lonely... Ah, well? Did you meet anyone you fell in love with?"
"No... I only liked them. Never loved them. Who am I to know what love is? All I know from love is... the Fatherly love of my Father who would only do that when he wanted to cover up how much he was hurting his current girlfriend in the other room and the absense of my Mother's love too. Showing how much she 'loves me' by leaving a necklace behind that was meant for her daughter... Not me..." Jimin confessed as Jungkook listened to Jimin's struggles, not paying attention to the cards he was setting down just because he was busy listening to his boyfriend's tortured past.
"Do you... Miss your father at times?" Jungkook wondered as Jimin nodded, looking at his cards and managing to hold back tears that longed to flow.
"I may disliked the way he handled women... But, I still miss him. He was never cruel to me. I guess we both have more things in common... Missing our own Fathers. Even if they had their flaws... We still think of them." Jimin stated as Jungkook nodded, placing his hand over the table to reach out and hold Jimin's hand in a way of comfort.
Jimin gazed at the younger's hand held out to him over the table as Jimin then held his cards with one hand and the other slowly intertwining with Jungkook's hand in return. Showing that they both understood eachother's feelings towards a subject like this.
