Chapter 29: Skyscraper
A week later, Jungkook was laying in Jimin's bed as he let out a huff. Lately, Jungkook transferred out of his public college and started doing online college. Of course Jungkook was sure he told his Mother and Hoseok about it before he actually did it. When his Mother asked for the reason, Jungkook only mentioned he would focus more this way.
Jungkook began to receive a call from his Mother, it would be one of those daily phone calls he would recieve and text messages from his mother too. Jungkook sat up with his whiteT-shirt, long grey sweatpants and white socks he wore to sleep. The younger answered and cleared his throat as he held the phone up to his ear.
"Hello, Mother." Jungkook said with a smile as he began to stretch, knowing Jimin must be outside in the living room watching movies or shows. Lately, Jimin stopped drinking and refused going to the club to gamble. However, he only did this so Jungkook wouldn't hate him for not being able to keep it in anymore. No matter how much the older man hated not drinking, Jungkook seemed to matter the most to him.
"Jungkook! How are you? Did you eat yet?" Mrs. Jeon wondered as Jungkook smiled and pressed his hand back on the bed to hold himself up.
"No, not yet. Just woke up." Jungkook answered as he looked up at the door knob. Thinking Jimin was extremely silent outside.
"What about your friend? Is he hungry? Both of you can stop by here. I haven't seen you in a long time and it would be such a great time for me to finally meet your roommate!"
"Well, that's if he's up for it.. I haven't seen you or Hoseok in a long time. I hope I'll eventually see you both but there's so much on my plate. Is Hoseok helping you?"
"Of course he is. He has been such a sweet little sunshine this whole time! You have such a nice friend, Jungkook. I hope the other is just as kind as Hoseok too!" Mrs. Jeon added. "So, how's college on the computer?"
"Difficult... At times I wish I can just go back to public school but then again, I like where I am now.." Jungkook chuckled, standing up and walking around the cold and spacious room.
"Are you ever going to come by and visit?"
"When I have time, Mother. I'll see you soon, I promise that."
"That's good to hear. What about your gambling issue? Still going out to gamble?"
"Ah, of course not Mother! Haven't been there in ages... But, I can assure you that I've been trying to handle my addiction by working hard and distracting myself with my friend. He's a really nice guy. His name is Park Jimin." Jungkook said with a smile, gazing across the room to stare at Jimin's deck of cards on top of his dresser. "He's very caring, he may seem mean but he's a fun guy to be with!"
"I'm really curious to see him! Please bring him over so I can see him and of course feed the two of you." Mrs. Jeon said with a chuckle. "Anyways, You've been working alot.. I've been seeing the money sent into my account. It's too much! I've been paying off the debts but I worry where you get this from."
"It's just a job, Mother. No gambling. Just hardwork." Jungkook responded. Assuring his Mother that lately he hasn't been trying to gamble at all. It was just the usual waiting at the penthouse, cleaning, cooking and making sure he stays up all night to watch over Jimin and makes sure he doesn't go running off to drink.
Jungkook found a harsh way to make Jimin stop and that was by threatening Jimin and telling him that he himself was going to dispose of the bottles if the older boy was to take another drink. This alone made Jimin furious. However, Jimin would suck it up and always end up laughing it off the next second. Unaware that deep down he was growing deprived without alcohol.
"Ah, that's well. Please take care. I have to drive Hoseok to a job interview. Is it wrong that he calls me his Mother now? I think it's like I have a five year-old son now. He always checks up on me." The Mother stated.
"Well, Mrs. Jung is back in her home district where Hoseok grew up and of course, we are far from her so Hoseok see's you as his Mother." Jungkook said as his Mother let out a chuckle.
"I see. Alright, take care. I have to go, call me soon!" Mrs. Jeon added and with that, she ended the call and Jungkook smiled at the ended call on his phone.
Jungkook placed his phone down and suddenly began to wonder why Jimin was suddenly so quiet. "Thats weird... He's never this quiet, is he sleeping outside?" Jungkook thought. Walking out of the bedroom to hear the outside city noises a bit louder like a window was open.
Jungkook gazed out into the living room to see Jimin resting his head against the side of the window as he let out a sigh. Jimin was sitting directly out a window, with just his white shoes dangling from the sides of the building. The younger then felt his heart drop when he locked his eyes at Jimin sitting out the window of the skyscraper with just tight blue jeans and a yellow sweatshirt. Jungkook noticed Jimin had a bottle of wine right by his side, however it looked like it was never opened. Almost like Jimin hesitated to open it.
"It'll end.." Jimin whispered to himself as he suddenly turned his head to see Jungkook was slowly walking closer with his hands up at the level of his eyes to show he meant no harm. Already, Jungkook was starting to tear up. "Jungkook...."
"Jimin... What are you doing...?" Jungkook worried, already knowing Jimin was planning on jumping off.
"I'm just...waiting.." Jimin whispered. Not trying to alarm the younger. "Come here..."
"Are you... Going to jump?" Jungkook said breaking into more tears. "P-Please don't do this... Don't.." Jungkook weeped silently as Jimin smiled and held his hand out to Jungkook.
"Come here. I'm not going anywhere." Jimin replied while the younger slowly walked forward to the older boy who was sitting with his legs dangling off the side of a huge skyscraper. Jungkook joined Jimin and sat next to the boy as Jungkook's eyes widened while he gazed down at the city. There was car horn noises, cars passing by and a cool breeze of air brushing against their faces.
"I thought you were going to..." Jungkook then sighed and felt Jimin place his hand up the younger's back.
"....forget about it..." Jimin whispered. Secretly holding back the real reason why he was sitting by the window in the first place. Jimin looked at Jungkook gazing out at the city, drying his tears while Jimin suddenly felt an urge to push the boy off. It was the blood that boiled and the constant anger that followed from having Jungkook become so curious to ruin Jimin's true reason why he was there in the first place. "Have you ever thought of people flying...?" Jimin asked as he looked at Jungkook gaze down and shook his head with a smile through his tears.
"There's no such thing!" Jungkook said, feeling his mood lighten up, but of course not paying attention to Jimin's hand that was placed behind the younger's back. Jungkook was clueless and never realized Jimin was just longing to push the younger off now...
However, Jimin only rested his hand on the younger's back, wanting to push him out of the anger that flooded his body. But Jimin can never do it and all he did there was just smile at Jungkook's innocent and cute face he gave while gazing out the window with the one he loved, Park Jimin.
