Chapter 22: Someone new
Jungkook soon woke up to see Jimin was on the other side of the bed, laying down on the edge. Hugging himself tightly as Jungkook was left on his side. It was like Jimin woke up during his sleep and shoved Jungkook away to sleep on his own side. The younger sat up to gaze at Jimin who was blinking while he hugged himself, showing that he was awake now.
"Hi, Jimin... Are you hungry?" Jungkook asked, seeing Jimin shake his head. "Oh... Well, I think I should owe you an apology for hugging you like that... I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I just wanted a bit more space to turn over and sleep correctly." Jimin whispered in return as he sat up. "You didn't finish dusting the boats..."
"Oh... Yeah, let me get to it now." Jungkook added, walking up to a feather duster he used before and began to dust off any lint from the bottled boats on the top shelf. "You drink alot... Have you felt anything bad lately? Like getting sick..?"
"No and it doesn't matter. I'll be alright. Now, it's time for you to do your job." Jimin claimed, sitting up and facing the confused younger.
"What do you mean? I don't have a job yet..." Jungkook said. Growing confused on what Jimin said.
"Well I did say I will give you money, but you got to work for it." Jimin smirked standing up to face the younger. "Let me get you started before I go." Jimin said, taking off his sweater. Only then the younger's eyes widened, just gazing upon Jimin's muscled body. Jimin's skin was pale, soft yet tough on the muscles, a v-lined pelvis and strong collarbones that made Jungkook suddenly turn red. Jimin dropped his gaze down to his abs and smiled. "You like it?"
"I-I uh..." Jungkook stuttered, quickly turning around to face the bottled boats and dust them off.
"No? Ah okay... Anyways, your job will be to clean the penthouse while I'm gone." Jimin answered rolling his hair back and staring at Jungkook, nervously dust the glassed bottles. Secretly gazing at Jimin's upper body through the glass reflection.
"I'm a housekeeper now?" Jungkook wondered. "Where will you be throughout the day?"
"Working, of course. I work at an office, since I am an accountant. Then I head off to gamble and yeah, you get the gist." Jimin then stretched, turning around to face his closet door. "I'll be gone the whole day. I better come home to see a clean house. Then I'll pay you at the end of the week." Jimin claimed.
"No... Don't pay me for it. Pay my Mother." Jungkook replied. "All the money I make... I want her to keep it all."
"Such a kind little Bunny Boy." Jimin complimented as he started to take out a grey suit. "Jungkook, just so you know... I won't be letting you get any other job. I feel at ease knowing that you will be here."
"So I can't get any other job?" Jungkook wondered, turning back to face Jimin. Jimin was already putting on his dress shirt, adjusting the collar and the cuffs of his sleeves. "Can't I have atleast a real job?"
"Oh Jungkook, you won't need that. I'm already doing so much for you. Just accept it and go clean." Jimin replied, buttoning up his shirt as he cocked his head to the side and gazed at Jungkook seductively. "That's all you need to do. Easy money. The penthouse only has dust in certain places. You'll do fine."
"Can I...atleast go out and gamble with you?"
"No." Jimin responded quickly. Walking up to the boy to focus on Jungkook's big round eyes. "Such a scary world out there... Can't risk you setting up another deal like that and losing yourself to another."
"Thank you for looking out for me, but I can-"
"Can you go to my coat in the living room? It has my ID badge for work." Jimin asked, cutting off Jungkook's words. Jungkook then nodded quickly and dashed out of the room to retrieve the same coat Jimin used that night when Jungkook lost.
The younger sighed, looking back at how he glanced at the reflection of Jimin's body through the glass of the bottle. "Ugh... What's wrong with me today?" Jungkook wondered to himself as he retrieved Jimin's ID badge, but suddenly.... A folded poker card fell out of it. Jungkook took a glance at the folded card and opened it to see an extra 'King' 9 card. "W-Why does he have an extra card here...? Did he... Cheat?" Jungkook whispered.
"Jungkook! Hurry up I need to head off to work! Can't be late to the office." Jimin ordered, but Jungkook suddenly felt a bit set back due to the card. The younger returned to the bedroom and handed Jimin his badge. "What took you so long?" Jimin wondered as he clipped the badge to his grey coat. "Being an accountant doesn't give you free time, you know."
"Well aware..." Jungkook claimed, tucking the folded card against his thigh. Jungkook just couldn't be so sure if Jimin really did cheat that night. The younger just hoped not to cross the older man's line since Jimin was really caring after Jungkook, supporting him in college and in his Mother's debts. The boy decided not to bring up the whole card thing since he feared what will become of him if he did ask. Would Jimin just kill him? Torture him? There was endless things Jimin could do, yet Jungkook was only thinking of the worst that can happen.
"Aw, don't be upset. I'll take you out to gamble later on. How about tomorrow night? Next Friday?" Jimin asked as Jungkook shook his head and made a fake yet assuring smile.
"That's fine! You go on ahead. I'll be here... Cleaning. Need to make the money anyways. But, wouldn't it be easier if I can just get a job to work multiple jobs at once? Just so you wouldn't have to pay me-"
"Jungkook, when will you get it through your little head that I chose to do this for you!" Jimin admitted. But this only made Jungkook wonder why he chose to do such a thing for Jungkook. Someone he just met that day in the club. "Let me support you on this."
"Why do you suddenly want to help? Did you know about me before we met in the club?"
"No... I just want to help someone. Like I always wanted to do. Life always seemed so short to me, Jungkook. So I am doing many things now than waiting for later. Living life to the fullest, no?" Jimin chuckled, grabbing his dress pants and walking to the bathroom to change into it. "Just my way of saying sorry for all those things I've done by having redemption to the world... and meeting someone new."
"Why does it matter to meet someone new? Don't you have many people to talk to?" Jungkook questioned the man in the bathroom as Jungkook dropped onto Jimin's bed and gazed at the half opened door. Beyond that door, Jimin was just looking at his reflection as he hesitated to change out of his jeans to change into his grey dress pants for work. He was too distracted on pondering the question, finding another way to address Jungkook's question.
"Well... You see... Jungkook, money can't buy happiness, can't buy friends or lovers.... Not even family. I may be rich on my own, I may have a beautiful yet lonely dull penthouse, I may talk to many people in the club like gamblers and some women and men... But at the end of the day, meeting someone who is willing to stay in my life, is such a beautiful thing to hear. Not everyone has friends... I'm just like them. The type of person who could die today and never have anyone at my funeral. That is why meeting someone new means so much to me, Jungkook."
