Chapter 1: The club

It was around two in the morning in Seoul, South Korea. Around the calm side of seoul in a nice neighbourhood, the sound of crickets still filled the early morning. The weather was cold outside and everyone was asleep, with no one on the streets yet, only a few people who were coming home from late shifts.

Suddenly, a tall dark figure of a man ran along the dark night and quickly ran inside of a house, not realizing the owner was right inside. The man had his face covered, yet only his eyes big, brown eyes were revealed along with small parts of his hair showing. Only then, the lights switched on and the intruder flinched.

"Are you kidding me, Jungkook?! Again?!" shouted an older woman at a young twenty-one year old, brown haired man. The angry woman that stood before the man was no other than his mother, wearing a white night gown on and a sleeping mask too. "Jungkook! How many times do I have to tell you? Get an actual job!" The mother shouted as she placed her hand on her forehead.

"I'm sorry..." Jungkook apologized to his mother. The Younger had on black attire such as a big, black coat, long black ripped jeans, black shoes, and a black face mask. Covering up his nose and mouth while he held his back pack in his arms. "I-I just wanted to help."

"Look at you! Your face is covered with a mask and wearing black when you go out to do this! Yet all you say about it is 'sorry' to escape trouble!"

"Mother! Times are tough for you and I realized it... I'm sorry.."

"Jeon Jungkook..." The mother sighed and gazed up at her son in disappointment. "Gambling is not a living... It's not a job! Leave this all to me.."

"I heard you one day... You said you were struggling so I wanted to help!" Jungkook said with an innocent smile.

"Stop... This is a crime! my son should remain innocent and not get arrested for a stupid card game!"

"B-But... It gets the job done... It's not a stupid card game, Mother!" Jungkook added as he let out a sigh. "Mother, I can help! Look!" Jungkook suddenly unzipped his bag and dumped out all of the stacks of wons! Jeon Jungkook was a twenty-one year old gambler who plays poker to win money. Lately, his mother has been catching him arrive home with his back pack filled with wons every night. This only worried the mother even more. Yet the young man only did this to help save his mother from financial issues.

"Jungkook..." The Mother sighed and gazed up at the wons that were scattered on the ground.

"I.... I did this so you wouldn't cry at night!" Jungkook claimed, yet his mother was still disappointed.

"Clean this up... Get some sleep." The Mother claimed. Jungkook's Mother was a hard working woman who only lived with her son Jungkook and no one else. Yet, due to so many issues with Jungkook's college funds and growing in debt, The Mother had nothing else but to work and encourage her son to do the same... But Jungkook only brought home money from doing things that were against the law.

"Mother..." Jungkook whispered as the Mother walked up the steps of the house to the second floor and gazed back. Mrs. Jeon looked back and only kept walking up the steps to head back to sleep and ignore what she saw in her own son.

Nights like these, the Mother would try to sleep and quickly pretend she never saw this side of her smart and intelligent son. Jungkook was a smart boy, innocent, shy... Yet he too grew lazy at times and relied on his gambling instead of keeping a nice job. Even if it was a crime, he grew addicted to it all and his life was never at risk from it too!

Jungkook sighed and yanked  his face mask off as he gazed down at the ground where the wons were scattered everywhere. He was in the living room where portaits and pictures of his family was there. Jungkook had a Father, but even the great things in the Mother's and the boy's life had to fade. The Father was no longer around, Jungkook never liked to mention the man but when people would ask, he would just say 'Not here.'

Due to all of these things breaking up his bond with his Mother, he prayed his Mother would understand and apreciate how he would bring home wons. Hoping it would be such a good use to her, but knowing Mrs. Jeon as a kind and angelic woman. She refused all the money Jungkook received from committing crimes and breaking rules.

"Agh! For once I would love it if my Mother can accept the wons... I won fair and square! I didn't learn how to play poker for nothing!" Jungkook hissed as he covered his face, picking up the stacks of wons, stuffing a few into his bag and leaving some on the dark blue couch of his Mother. "M-Maybe... She needs more... Maybe this isn't as close as she owes!! Ah, I need to win again... J-Just for one more game!" Jungkook said as he zipped up his bag. "Just need to win once more... I have classes at seven in the morning so I'll have time to get home and sleep... Maybe study too." Jungkook thought.

The young man was of course obsessed with the idea of winning and gaining money. He thought of it as a talent along with many other players who grew addicted to gambling. Constantly testing their luck for greater things! The Mother was laying in bed as she heard the door open and close. Knowing Jungkook ran out to gamble again. "What am I going to do with that little boy?" Mrs. Jeon whispered to herself. Feeling deprived of being a good Mother to her son. Questioning where she went wrong.

Jungkook dashed down the empty streets of Seoul with his bag, ready to gamble again even if he won a game before. Jungkook hurried down a corner and eventually turned to a random strip club where Poker and gambling activity is active. Jungkook showed his ID to the security and was allowed in by a tall and big buff man wearing a black T-shirt and long black jeans too.

"Welcome back, Jeon Jungkook. Today's tournaments are packed." The security guard added. Already recognizing the Young man due to many times Jungkook has visited.

"Packed? Ah, I guess I'll have to wait for an open game..." Jungkook said as he walked in.

"The only reason why it's  packed because the best players are gambling right now. One of them is the best player here in this club." The security guard added as Jungkook looked ahead and nodded. "Are you still going to play?"

"Do you... Know who's playing today?"

"Oh the usual winners from last game. You, since you are here, Soku, ZoZo, AL, Joso, Mosji, Guden... And the other guy's name... Ah- what's the name?" The man began to think. "He uses his full name instead of made up ones to mask it away. Hmm.." The security guard thought as he suddenly snapped his fingers and pointed to a man ahead by the bar. "Park Jimin." The man added as he pointed to the man up ahead.

Park Jimin had such a seductive look... A mean yet caring one too. The man wore a white suit and red tie on. He seemed to be the only one with a bright color on while others used dark colors. Jimin parted his dirty blonde hair and rolled it back as he took a shot and placed the glass shot down. Looking past Jungkook as he turned to look at the people dancing. Silent... The man looked silent for a gambler. Rather lonely. He seemed as if he was the type everyone avoided. Jungkook just didn't know what this older man made him feel. He kept in his emotions which were necessary to play. Keeping a poker face was the key so no one can know what cards you hold.

"Is he the best player here?" Jungkook thought as he kept staring at the emotionless man who sat by the bar. All alone. Jungkook stared at Jimin as red dance floor lights flashed around the room full of people dancing, strippers on poles, groups of men guarding the poker room, long lines to the bathroom and the bar filled with drunk men and women. The younger stepped up into the club. Staring at Park Jimin as if he longed to start hatred tension against the other competitor.

"I don't know why..  But I suddenly want to go against this guy. Yet, it would be such a good feeling to win out of that guy. The so called 'best'.." Jungkook thought as he began to think of many things like, what was Jimin's strategy? Does he play dirty? How long can he keep that blank face during a whole game of Poker? and most importantly, what does he have to offer?
