I noticed that Sam was off the field and staring at us. I got the hint. I walked over to the other side of the field and faced Brandon.

"Ready for the championship round?" I asked.

He got in a stance before we faced each other.

"Born ready!"

"Fight!"

I focused my mind on that new feeling and focused it in Brandon's direction.

I felt him pushing back just as hard. I tried harder and harder to overtake his psychic energy. I felt him push all the harder as well.

Come on!!!

Meanwhile with Sam's POV.

"Fight!"

Both Will and Brandon tensed up and started staring at each other intensely. Both of them making strained faces and occasionally grunting.

Tallia whined "I thought a psychic battle would be cooler! They're just staring at each other!"

Ugh..... How does Will do it?

"Shut up, I hate whiners." I warned her.

"Fuck you!"

"Shut up brat!"

We started a staring at each other intensely.

Back to Will!

As we fought I felt my power start to slip. Slowly, but surely I could feel his power start to overtake mine.

I dropped my move and sidestepped his psychic energy. I rushed towards him and used scratch, but it missed. He managed to dodge last second.

We disengaged and separated before he shot another Extressonary at me.

If I can't defend....

I ran up to him taking the full brunt of the attack. I got close and started using scratch over and over as he tried to chip away at my health with his psychic moves.

We separated once more both of us tired and wounded. Then I couldn't feel or see anything and heard distant voices. I felt myself being moved before the world came back into focus.

"Oh man..... I lost?" I grumbled "I guess that's what happens when you pause dramatically for effect......"

Brandon was smiling down at me and chuckled "too bad!"

I got up and walked to my bag.

"What kind of candy do you want?" I asked.

"What kind do you have?" He asked.

Poseidon snorted "a better question is what candy doesn't he have?"

I listed "banana, grape, coconut, pineapple, black licorice, black licorice jelly beans, off brand knockoffs, those candy peanuts, candy corn....."

He shot a quick water gun, soaking me, but not affecting me otherwise. I shook myself a little dryer before asking "what do you want?"

He said "Gummy bears!"

I tossed him a pack of them along with the twenty bucks I owed him.

"Pay up Sam!" I yelled to her as she tried to sneak away.

She grumbled and handed an excited Brandon the money.

We both chuckled as she stormed off.

I decided to check my phone for a good recipe I could do for dinner when a news announcement on the sidebar caught my attention.

Orb users! Friend or Foe?

I tapped the link and saw a short article.

It read:

All over the world people known as 'orb users' have made themselves known.

Not much is known about them, although eye witness reports say a few key things.

They look like normal humans, have the powers of Pokémon, and can understand poke-speak perfectly.

It is unknown if these people mean harm, or are organized in any way.

The police have offered a large cash reward to anyone with further information.

"Ummm..... guys? We have a situation....." I called out to everyone.

They all came over and Sam read the report out loud.

"So what do we do now?" Brandon asked.

"By the looks of it we aren't very known and the public is curious. I think we should hide until the heat dies down...." Sam started.

"Pfft! Screw that! We can hide in plain sight as long as we don't go attacking people. Plus they'll be looking for suspicious characters hiding in the woods." I shot her idea down.

"What about the app?" Brandon asked.

"I don't think they know about that yet. We should google this to be sure...." I said as I typed up orb users.

Only a few things popped up.

"Let's see...... mysterious, powers of a Pokémon, conspiracy theory that has everything wrong, a couple short videos of idiots trying figure out how to shoot fire, and nothing else by the looks of it."

I cleared my search history right after and said "the general public seems pretty confused. We defiantly can just pass off as trainers on a journey.

We will eventually be found out though, so we should get going and enjoy blending in for a while."

Sam sighed "since when do you make so much sense......"

"When I ate the magic banana of Corpus Conundrum!" I cheered.

"Aaaaannnd he's back......" She sighed.

"When did I leave?" I asked.

Time skip!

After Sam was done flipping out, we decided to head out in the morning after breakfast and try to get to Jubilife city within three days.

Due to our powers we were able to make it within two.

"Alright we're pretty low on supplies. Who's gonna get them?" I asked.

Sam said "me and Rose will get potions and other trainer items."

"Alright, I guess I'll be off to get food supplies. Poseidon could you watch them for an hour?"

He sighed, but nodded all the same.

"We don't need a babysitter!" Tallia yelled.

"Tallia......"

"I have Spooks already! Isn't he good enough!?"

"Tallia! I have no doubts that Spooks is strong enough to protect you, but what about Brandon? Can he protect both of you?"

She looked away and grumbled.

"I care for both of you and your safety. This is a huge city and there are lots of people here. You never know what's going to happen....." I got closer and whispered in her ear "if anyone finds out text me and Sam immediately."

Tallia rolled her eyes "yes mom. Come on Brandon let's find something fun to do!" Tallia grabbed his arm and pulled him along. Spooks and Poseidon trailed behind with one cackling and one shaking his head.

I chuckled before handing Sam some money and started walking to the market.

I was almost at the place when I noticed a huge crowd gathered in front. As I got closer I saw there was a bunch of TV's with the news on. I froze when I saw who was on.

"Well Mr. Chase was it? You claim to be an Orb user?" The reporter asked and pointed the microphone to him.

He pulled it closer and said "Sure am! Hi mom! Hi Dad! Hey Jamie!"

The reporter ripped it away and asked "can you prove it?"

He smiled and "sure! You wanna see scratch or ember?"

She smiled back and said "please do scratch, we don't have a proper space for you use ember without making something catch fire....."

He nodded before effortlessly making his nails grow and glow.

I felt all of the people around me gasp as he swung his hand around a little before seeing the reporter frozen and asked "you alright?"

She shook herself before saying "that was amazing! Could you please clear some stuff up about orb users?"

He nodded "what are you curious about?"

"First, how many of them are there?"

He touched his chin and said "all I can say for our numbers is that there are six in Sinnoh. I'd imagine a similar number for the other regions."

She went on "Can you describe the other five?"

"Oh sure! One is this teenaged chick with black hair and brown eyes just half a foot shorter than me. Her name's Cheryl and she has a Rapidash named Trace.

There was this little girl named Tallia with silver hair and pink eyes. Her partner was a Haunter named Spooks.

There was another girl around my age named Sam. She had purple hair and icy blue eyes. Her partner was a Magnectric named Rose. She was pretty intense.....

There was this little kid named Brandon with pink hair and sky blue eyes. He didn't seem to have a partner yet and was pretty shy....

He seemed to really like the final guy of the group, Will though. His partner was an Empoleon named Poseidon. He had messy brown hair and these wild brown eyes..... he told me he used to work as a guide for Mt. Coronet and saved Brandon once......."

"Very interesting..... what exactly can orb users do?"

"Anything a Pokémon can, really. Plus Pokémon related stuff works on us like berries and potions and the level app."

That fucking moron..........

At that point I finally noticed that several members of the crowd I was in were pointing their phones at me.

Shit.......

Before more people noticed I managed to separate from the crowd and start walking towards the TV station where a very unlucky red head was gonna have a bad time.

I pulled out my phone and saw that I had a few messages.

Sam: I'm gonna kill Chase! That fucking dumb ass!!!!

Me: Save a piece of him for me.

Sam: no promises.....

Tallia: people are staring at us.... what happened?

Me: Chase went on live TV and told the world about us. Me and Sam are going to give him a piece of our mind.

Tallia: Can we watch?

Me: fine by me. Get to the News station quick.

I walked up and saw the large crowd gathered around the front of the building with Chase, the reporter, and the camera crew in the middle of it all.

I pushed my way in and walked up to Chase.

He saw me and cheerily said "oh hey Will! Didn't know you were in Jubilife!"

I walked up and asked "why did you do this?"

He looked confused before asking "what do you mean?"

"You not only revealed a ton about orb users in general, but you described and named all of us." my voice was shaking with anger by this point as I continued "Didn't you think we'd like to be treated normally for a little while? Did you think at all?!"

He shrunk back from me and weakly said "no......."

I sighed "I'm sorry.... It's just...... you should have put a little more thought into such a serious subject."

The reporter shoved the mic in my face and asked "Your this Will character Chase has told us about?"

"Yeah. Do you need something?" I asked.

"We were wondering what types you and your group are. Chase already told us he was a fire type, but had no clue what types the rest of you were."

"I'll tell you I'm a psychic and dragon type, but if you want to know the rest you'll have to ask them. Sam's coming to kick Chase's butt and Tallia and Brandon are coming to watch." I shrugged.

She got excited and asked turned to the camera and said "you heard it here folks! A fight between two orb users is about to happen right here!"

The crowd roared all around us in sheer excitement.

Suddenly the crowd died down and a voice yelled out "Chase your so fucking dead!"

The crowd parted and an absolutely livid Sam stomped up to Chase, who was currently trying to hide behind me. I got out of the way and watched.

She rushed forward and started using scratch on him repeatedly before he managed to kick her off and start dodging. He however wasn't as fast and was quickly put into another combo before fainting.

She stood above him panting heavily and listing off every swear word in the book.

I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned to me.

"You just said all of that on live TV and in front of a large crowd." I pointed to the camera crew and the shocked masses.

She paled before blushing and trying to hide behind me.

I gave her a shit eating grin and announced "I'm sorry, but I still needed to buy supplies. Thankfully, Sam here has calmed down and can an answer your questions."

I ran and jumped past the crowd before running full speed to the grocery stores again.

I could feel her inner rage and chuckled.

Time skip!

I finally got out of the store and texted the others to meet me at the battle park in the middle of the city.

As I walked there people stared at me and pointed. I just ignored them. It wasn't much different from ignoring high school bullies.

That is until a little kid poked me in the back to get my attention.

I turned to him and kneeled down before saying "hello. What's up?"

He smiled and excitedly asked "can you teach me to do Pokémon stuff!?"

I looked down and said "I'm sorry. I can't teach it to you. You would need to find a special orb and put it in your chest to be able to do Pokémon stuff........"

He looked down for a second before starting to walk away.

"Wait! Do you like lollipops?" I asked.

He turned with wide eyes and said "I love them!!!"

I reached into my bag's candy stash and gave him an oversized rainbow one.

He stuttered "I can have this?!"

I nodded.

He bowed and said "thank you mister!" before running off somewhere.

I heard a collective awwww from the rest of the crowd and continued walking towards the park. Before I got five steps away a horde of little kids came in front of me and asked "Can I have some too?"

I sighed "I can't say no to those faces..... let's see what I have....."

When all was said and done I was out of lollipops, but left a ton of happy little kids.

I finally continued my walk to the park and found everyone waiting.

"Hey guys! Sam did you get the battle items?"

She nodded.

"Then let's train. We should find some random people to train and test our skills. I'm sure plenty of people want to....."

I felt a tap on my shoulder and a young trainer with a Charmeloen asked "can we battle?"

"Sure! You my opponent?" I pointed to his companion.

He smirked and said "I hope you can handle the heat!"

"No problem..."

We found a nice open area. We touched our BRD devices together and got into position.

I looked at the Charmeloen and looked him over. He seemed like he didn't have any scratches or battle damage in any way whatsoever.

He must have evolved just recently. This should be a pretty decent fight.

"You recently evolved huh? Congrats! Good to know your level 16."

Both of their eyes widened and I felt their confusion. Then the trainer yelled "he's a psychic type! Watch out!"

I chuckled "you figured half of the equation. Now what else could I be......"

I rushed forward with scratch and was met with one of equal power. I used my other hand and managed to get him right in the face. He quickly recovered and we tangled in a furious flurry of scratching.

We both backed off and the kid said "try some fire!"

He shot countless embers my way, but each of them barely even effected me.

"Nice try." I used confusion on him and he gripped his head in pain before almost falling over.

He was just barely hanging on at this point. His trainer looked frantic and said "try..... Metal claw?"

The Charmeloen's claws glowed and gave off a metallic sheen as he slowly made his way towards me.

"Sorry about this." I used confusion one more time and he fainted.

I felt the rush of power of leveling up a few times and learned a new move.

I walked over to Sam and grabbed a super potion and got back to his Charmeloen.

I jostled him awake and sprayed his wounds with it.

He got up and skulked over to his trainer.

"Ah it's OK man. You win some you lose some." I told him.

He didn't seem to care on the outside, but I could feel he was a little less mad about losing.

I walked back over to Sam and got a regular potion for my own injuries.

"Anyone else?" I asked out loud.

I felt a disturbance in the force as a large group of people came stampeding towards me.

I heard several voices saying "We want to battle!!!!!"

I put up my hand and they got quiet.

"I have a lot of time to kill. I'd love to battle. How about you?" I pointed to a random guy.

He smirked "I'm gonna take you down!"

We touched BRD devices and got in position. I gulped as I noticed his Pokémon was a Snover.

"Alright! Try your razor leaf!"

I dodged the leaves no problem and used my new attack. A warm feeling grew in my lungs as I took a deep breath. I forcibly launched the warmth from my mouth, covering the Snover in blue flames.

The kid exclaimed "dragon rage?!"

The Snover was pretty badly damaged by the looks of it. He was panting pretty heavily. However I still shivered when I saw a spark in his eyes that said "I'm gonna freeze you soooo hard!"

He then used ice shard. As the frozen water flew towards me, time slowed down. I knew I couldn't move out of the way, so I used confusion and busted the shard to snow. I rushed forward through the snow and used scratch. Before the Snover knew what hit it, I knocked it out.

The trainer just stood there slack jawed as he saw his partner slumped over.

"What?!?!" He yelled.

As he snapped out of his stupor he went over to his Snover and used a super potion to heal him up.

"Sorry.... I guess I got a ton faster...." I felt no new moves, but I think I leveled up once more.

"Who's next?" I called out.
