I walked into our room, got my biggest duffle bag and filled it with a couple canteens, some non perishable food like jerky, canned stuff, dehydrated meat, and some of my secret candy stash. I grabbed the coffee maker, plenty of coffee grounds, our two favorite mugs, basic cooking supplies, a lighter, a map, toothbrush, toothpaste, a portable solar panel with electrical socket, phone charger, my phone, clothes, and our sleeping bags.

I pulled out my phone and called the post "Hello this is Will. I'm sorry to inform you that I'm quitting my job for now......"

"Sorry something came up and I don't have nearly enough vacation days to cover my absence....."

"Yes Poseidon too....."

"Alright I'll stop by for my final check later today....."

"Thank you good bye..."

I hung up my phone and dialled the landlord.

"Yes hello? This is Will. Room 471, I'm calling to tell you I'm moving out effective immediately....."

"Yes I'm going on a journey......"

"Thank you sir I'll be right down to pick up the deposit....."

"I'm leaving a lot of my appliances and stuff so you can use it or sell it I don't care...."

"Bye...."

Poseidon tapped my shoulder and asked "are we really going through with this buddy?"

"You and I both know, one does not simply ignore Arceus. Plus I feel like being with other orb users would be better than being just us or with random people and having to explain my bullshit later on."

He sighed before packing his own bag. While he did that I went down to the front office and met up with Sal.

As soon as I came into his office he said "are you sure your OK with this?"

I nodded "I'm going on a Pokémon journey. I can't take everything with me and keeping my apartment would be a waste."

He nodded before handing me the money.

As I walked out of the office Poseidon had just climbed down the final step. A look of pure sadness and regret on his face. I motioned for him to follow and we walked out to the car, loaded the trunk, and got in.

I sighed "so where do we go first? Do we register with the Pokémon league, get a bite to eat, or go pick up our final checks?"

We both sat there quietly contemplating our options before Poseidon said "I think we should eat, get our checks, then register."

I nodded and started the car. We just got some fast food and chowed down on the way there.

I parked in the lot for the last time and we both walked into the place for the last time.

"It's sad to see such a good guide go..... will we see you two in the future?" Ross the Boss asked.

"Maybe as clients. I doubt we'll be back any time soon." I told him.

He nodded and handed us the slips of paper. We solemnly walked back to the car and drove to our final stop before traveling to Sandgem town. Phantina's gym.

We pulled up to the gym's parking lot and went inside. We went to the front desk and I said the words that would mean we were past the point of no return, "we'd like to register for the Pokémon League please."

The receptionist slid two documents forward and said "just fill these out and we'll get you on your way sir."

I sat down with the paper and wrote:

Age: 25

Starter: Empoleon

Starter nickname: Poseidon

Previous occupation: Mountain tour Guide

The rest was a little too personal to share with you guys.....

I got up and handed our papers back to the lady.

"Alright, while we make your ID you need to choose the color of your BRD. We have black, white, red, blue, yellow, green, pink, purple, and orange."

"What's a BRD? I never heard of it...." I asked.

She held out a small black ball on a keychain with several buttons on it. She said "this is a Battle Recording Device recently developed by the Devon corporation. It's water proof, fire proof, cut proof, shock proof, acid proof......"

"So it's everything proof?" I asked.

She nodded before continuing

"It has five main functions. It stores your badges, it keeps track of your earnings as a trainer, keeps track of who you fight and the outcome, and sends this information to the Pokémon league daily. Whenever you start a battle all you have to do is touch it to someone else's and all of the battle data is sent directly to the league database. These few buttons on the top are for emergency services. This black button on the side opens the compartment for your badges. Oh and this white button shows your balance."

"Cool..... I'll take mine in blue."

She nodded and grabbed a blue one, inserted my shiny new ID into it, and handed me both things.

I clipped the keychain to the strap of my bag and put my trainer card in my wallet. Before exiting the building. Phantina was never at her gym anyways.

We got back in the car and started on our road trip. It'd take two days to drive there safely.

After an hour of driving I saw a hitch hiker with a sign that said "going to Sandgem!"

Poseidon rolled down his window and I asked "you going to the meeting in Sandgem too?"

Her Magnectric strolled up and said "you're an orb user?"

I rolled my eyes and said "no, I'm a banana."

The puppy started growling at me so Poseidon started staring her down.

"Get a room you two!" I joked.

They both started blushing and looking away awkwardly.

I chuckled and popped the trunk before saying "load up and get in. It's gonna be a long drive."

After they loaded up their packs and got it the back seat I said "my names Will, this is Poseidon. Who are you two?"

The girl said "I'm Sam, this is Rose."

"Well Sammy what orb type are you?" I asked.

She spat "my name is Sam, and I'm poison and ice."

"Interesting combo Samantha, I'm Dragon and psychic."

She sat there and glared at me in the reflection of the rearview mirror.

I decided to change the subject "so how many other orb users do you think will show up?"

She just stared out the window with a determined look on her face.

"I'm just asking because I definitely want to go in a group. For all we know we're the only ones in the region...."

"I hope not...."

We both stayed silent for a while after that. I eventually decided to turn on the radio and turned it to a classic rock station.

A few hours later the sun was starting to go down and we all were getting tired. I finally saw a hotel and pulled in.

All three of the ladies were sound asleep so I decided to switch to a heavy metal station on the radio and quickly cranked the volume to max.

What ensued was a beautiful moment of chaos and screaming from four different sources all melding into a song that really got your ears bleeding.

Of coarse I was forced to sleep in the car, but it was worth it.

The next day we continued our silent drive to Sandgem town for the rest of the day and managed to make it to Twin leaf town.

As I parked at the motel I said "alright. Tomorrow morning we make it to Sandgem and hopefully get filled in on what's happening......"

Sam nodded and said "I hope so..... I wanted to say..." she seemed pretty choked up, like it was hard to say.

"Thanks..... for driving us.... It would have taken us weeks to get there alone....."

"No problem. It was awkward, but fun. This isn't a goodbye though, it's entirely possible we'll be stuck in a group."

She stood there for a minute before walking into her room.

Hmmm.... I guess she doesn't like that thought...... oh well.....

As soon as I flopped onto the bed I fell asleep.

I looked around in my dream being met with an infinite expanse of white. I couldn't even tell where the floor ended and the horizon began.

Creepy......

I decided to start walking around a bit before I saw something almost transparent. I walked up to it slowly, but it seemed to notice me as well and started to back away.

I walked a little faster and the thing did too. I decided to run full speed and jump on it. I was met by the sound of a little kid screaming in my face. I looked down and noticed I had tackled the little kid from a couple days ago.

What was his name?

I got up off of him and said "uh, kid? Why are you screaming?"

He suddenly froze before looking up at me. He gasped "Your that guy that saved me from that Golem!"

I nodded "my name is Will. I'm sorry I forgot your name...."

"Brandon! Its nice to see you again. Why are you in my dream though?" He asked putting his pointer finger on his chin.

"What are you talking about? This is my dream!" I told him.

His eyes widened "Oh! We must be close! We linked dreams! But that must mean......"

He ran up and hugged me "your a psychic type orb user too!"

"Wait, your an orb user?" I asked.

The mind reading!

"Yeah! I've had mine for a few months. I've met an Abra that told me psychic types can meet in the dream world. I didn't recognize your dream signature so I got scared....."

"Hey it's OK. Can you let go of my waist now?" I joked.

He quickly did just that and stood there for a second.

"Well, I hope to see you at the meeting place tomorrow morning." I told him.

"Wait, come over to my house for breakfast!" He beamed.

"I don't think that's a good idea... It'd be hard to explain.... Hi your son invited me to breakfast after meeting up in a dream!"

"Sorry....." He sniffed.

I sighed "I didn't mean to shoot you down Brandon.... this is just facts. I don't think it'd be a good idea to meet up for breakfast. Just meet us at Sandgem town OK?"

He nodded.

I suddenly woke up to find myself on the floor drenched by what I assume to be Poseidon's water gun.

I heard laughing from Sam, Rose, and the penguin. I quickly got up and brushed myself off and took a shower.

I heard Rose groan in disappointment.

"I told you it wouldn't get a reaction out of him......" Poseidon sighed.

"Ugh..... I guess it makes sense..... he is a dragon type....."

"Nah, he hasn't reacted to that since I was a prinplup. I used to wake him up like that all the time."

"Now you tell us....."

"I tried to Rose! You wouldn't listen!"

As they argued I got on a pair of jeans, a black shirt, my socks and shoes, and a grey hoodie.

I came out of the bathroom and said "hey guys, I saw another orb user in my sleep."

"Really? You can do that? Who is it?" Sam asked.

I nodded "yeah, apparently psychic types share dreams when they sleep in close proximity. Plus he's a kid Poseidon and I rescued a few days ago."

"You mean Brandon?"

I nodded "turns out he was psychic. He lives in this town and plans on meeting us at the gathering."

They nodded.

We all had a light breakfast and headed out. It took only an hour to get to the our final stop. Unfortunately, as soon as I got within the city limits my car broke down without warning.

We didn't crash into anything or anyone so I guess that was lucky.

We all got out and I lifted the hood and my face was met with a blast of hot smoke.

"Shit! I'm no mechanic, but I think my car isn't going anywhere......."

Sam lightly pushed me aside and said "I am. Let me take a look."

She took one quick look at it and whistled in amazement.

"I don't know how it happened, but absolutely every part under the hood busted at once. It's a miracle the thing didn't explode....."

I gulped "really?"

She nodded.

"Looks like Arceus is saying we need to walk. Let's get our stuff and find the others....." Poseidon said as he opened the trunk.

We all grabbed our bags and started walking towards the center of town.

There in town square was a banner that said "Welcome new trainers!"

"I guess that's it..."

We all saw four others under the banner. One was Brandon, one was a young girl with silver hair and pink eyes, a tall skinny guy with red hair, and one was a girl with jet black hair and dull, brown eyes.

The little girl had a haunter flying around her excitedly, the guy had a Bellossum in his hands, and the girl with dark hair had a Rapidash by her side.

I called out "Yo! Brandon!"

He turned to me and ran up with tears of joy in his eyes. He tackled me to the ground.

"Good to see you too..." We both sat on the ground for a second laughing.

When I got up I noticed all of the others staring at me and Brandon.

"What are you guys looking at?"

Red said "we couldn't get the kid to say a word, then you show up and he runs up and hugs you."

"Ohh.... I see.... Poseidon and I saved him a few days ago and returned him to his mom....." I said gesturing to him.

Sam poked me in the shoulder "I've been meaning to ask about that.... what exactly happened?"

"Well..... after I led a group through Mt. Coronet we noticed Brandon was missing. We tracked him down and stopped a Golem from turning him into a mess."

"Oh so you were a mountain guide?" He asked.

I nodded "my name's Will, this is Brandon, Sam, and Rose."

"Tallia, this is Spooks." The little girl said as the ghost licked her.

"I'm Chase this is Sakura." The tall red guy said as the Bellossum buried her face in his chest.

"Cheryl, this is Trace." The dark girl mumbled as she pet the fire horse's snout.

Suddenly a flash of light happened in between all of us and a man in a white business suit appeared.

"Hello my orb users. I am here to explain the rules of your adventure. There is a dire threat approaching that only you can defeat.

Your main goal is to be strong enough to defeat a legendary Pokémon. Each of you must defeat one to prove you are strong enough to assist in taking down this looming evil.

You may train and prepare all you want in any way you want.

Now you all must make a decision. Will you go on your own or join a group? You have an hour to answer. You may leave when you have decided.

He disappeared in another flash of light.

The Cheryl immediately spoke up and said "I'm going solo.... it's just my style...."

I replied "that's fine. I'm all for doing a group. Anyone joining?"

"I'm in Will's group!" Brandon chirped

"I guess I'll go solo." Chase shrugged.

Tallia and Spooks spoke at the same time but one said "Solo!" while the other said "group!"

Tallia and Spooks stared at each other before they played rock paper scissors. Spooks won so they joined the group.

Sam sighed "I guess we'll tag along some more....."

Rose nodded.

"OK..... four in our group, two alone. I guess we'll see you around." I held out my hand to the two.

Cheryl just got on Trace and raced off without another word.

Chase sweat dropped before shaking my hand and walking away.

We all sat there a second before Tallia spoke up "so what now?"

I shrugged.

Sam spoke up and said "we have a couple options. We can go to a city and reveal that we're a thing to the world, we can go into the woods in secret to train, we can wander and hope for the best, or a mixture of the three."

"We should probably learn about our powers before anything else....."

Brandon and Tallia shouted "you don't know?!"

Sam and I looked at each other before shaking our heads.

The two looked at each other before laughing.

"What's so funny!?!" Sam yelled.

Tallia sputtered "the little kids are gonna teach the adults!"

I sighed and said "let's just find a place to start training....."
