Chapter 8: Blood*

I jumped to the other side of the room after what I caught myself doing and covered my nose with both hands, in shock. W-What did I just do..?

"X-Xavier... I'm so sorry! I-I don't know what got over me" he looked at me with much more surprise than anger than I expected him to be. Why isn't he angry with me even after I told him I don't desire human blood..? I don't understand what happened.

I was always given different blood types and refused each one. They resulted in the same way and made me sick, but Xavier... why did I act differently with him?

I bowed on the floor for a huge apology, "I'm so sorry! Please don't be angry! I meant it when I said I don't desire human blood. I don't know what got over me!"

"You okay, Yannie?" He asked instead. I covered my eyes, still covering my nose to avoid the smell that'll put me in a trance. "Hey, explain yourself" I heard the seriousness in his voice.

"I never intended to hurt you! I'm more human than anything! I'm sorry" I sobbed "I won't do it again!" I clenched my hands together.

"I don't know what came over me" I looked at him walking over to me with his blade in his hand. I gulped and looked down, watching my tears falling on my lap.

He kneeled in front of me and showed me his arm. He pressed his dagger against his skin and drew blood. I gasped loudly and covered my nose even more. What is he doing?!

"Here, take some" he held it closer to me, in which I hurried away from

"Are you mad?! I'm not doing that!" I shut my eyes "Don't do this to me. I'm sorry for what I did, but don't do this" I looked at him coming closer to me "What's in it for you? Why are you trying to accomplish? Is this another experiment?"

"Hmm.. more or less, I never exactly knew there would be anyone out there who needed my blood" huh? "It may help you become stronger. You need all the strength you need to come with me."

"I said, I'm fine! Don't go shoving that on me" his blood dripped off his arm. I started drooling, and it was hard breathing from how fast my heart was beating. I shut my eyes tightly and turned away "S-Stop... I don't want to hurt you."

"You won't hurt me. I trust you."

"I don't even know about myself, so how can you trust me? You don't even know me!" I pushed through a thought in my head that might push him away "In other cases, Vampires don't drink their first drop of blood until they find their soulmate. It's usually at a young age, and they'll know it right away. It's not abnormal for a vampire child to find their soulmate and get married."

"That's random" he smiled a little "Don't you want to find out we're soulmates?" There was a bit of happiness in his voice. I looked at him, confused, wondering why he was so desperate for me to try his blood.

"I am human; thus, I don't need one" I shook my head and looked back at his curious eyes "This isn't about me, this is about you and your safety. What happens when I get stronger? I may lose my sanity or maybe even die since I'll be drinking human blood while I am human."

"Yannie, we need to take risks sometimes."

"Risks are too dangerous... I took a risk once, and it had my friend and Pokémon killed. I don't want anything happening. Besides... doing this is like asking a random person for sex."

"You said your life is in my hands. If you attack, I know how to deal with you. It's up to you if you have the power to stop yourself if you go mad. Come on, Yannie" he showed me his arm again. It's everywhere...

"Aren't you scared if a vampire smells this..?" He just stared at me, waiting patiently. I shakily looked back at his arm and pushed him away "Stop it!" I pressed my head on the cold wall to calm my heavy breathing, "Stop it..." he sighed.

"I'm sorry" he got up from where I pushed him and used a shirt to clean himself off "I shouldn't have done that, knowing you were uncomfortable" I put my hand down and accidentally touched the blood that was on my legs. My throat stiff up when seeing the vibrant red color on my skin...

What's wrong with me..? My chest was getting heavy. This never happened before with any other blood type. This can't be a craving... although... every vampire has their favorite and prefers that type more than others. Is that it..?

"You okay?" Xavier asked, staring at my shaking eyes staring at his neck "Yannie?" I flinched when realizing what I was looking at. I couldn't hold back...

"What...blood type are you?" He looked surprised before smiling softly.

"Uh... well, it's a little different than most" I waited for an answer desperately "Type X"

"Type... X..?" My fangs were baring and growing slowly.

"Yeah, just like my name. I know. I was born with a different blood type than my parents. The blood type came from my grandfather, who was a legend in vampire hunting. He also had a different type compared to his family, and it's just like mine. Type X doesn't attract vampires, and it's not useful for humans. I can take any blood if I need it for emergencies" he... has ultra-rare blood vampires doesn't desire? Is that why he didn't worry about attracting them when his blood was dripping everywhere?

"H-How is it that I..."

"You're not like the others, and I'm not like other humans. I'm 100% human, so don't think differently of me. I wanted to know if maybe..." I scoffed

"There you go again, experimenting... respect yourself, will you? Don't go giving away your blood for no reason" I looked down, trying to control my thirst "Don't..." I bit my lips "ever do that again..."

"Why are you shaking so much?" I covered my nose, accidentally forgetting my hand had blood on it!

"Agh! Get it off!" I yelled out, but my hand stayed ever so close to my nose...

"You know..." he cleaned my hand for me "doctors avoid me because of my blood. It killed a Pokémon when we were experimenting with what it does. It turned out to be poisonous, so everyone called me a freak" he held a smile, but it almost looked sad "the blood I have is useful to repel vampires, so that's what makes me a good hunter. That's the only benefit it has..."

"Poisonous blood..?" I held my neck "But why..?"

"I don't know, and that's why I was curious. You are the only one who's drawn by it. It's a big deal to donate blood to the community to keep attacks from rising, and I've always wanted my blood to be useful to someone, but..." he looked down.

"You are very strange..." he snorted when I said that, "but I am as well. We both don't know anything about our own bodies, but you're the only one who is willing to take risks. I don't want to do that" he narrowed his eyes when looking into mine.

"Your eyes..." I bare my fangs on accident from time to time, still trying to resist the smell.

"Because we're different, that's why we work. Even if we just met, we're already friends" he looked a bit surprised before smiling again for me.

"Yeah!"

"And as a friend, keep your blood to yourself if you care about what I may do to you" he lifted his hands in surrender. I leaned closer to slap him across the cheek that threw him back on the floor.

"Think about my feelings before you start wanting an experiment" I crawled over his body and softly grabbed his neck, shocking him. He stared into my eyes, widening his own as if he sees something I can't. I have no control over my own body... The smell was everywhere...

I found myself getting closer to his neck, "Y-Yannie!" He gasped when I lifted his chin to get a better view of his neck. My fangs were out, ready to grab him.

"If we're friends, stop me right now... please" I resisted the veins in his neck, but my mind wasn't strong enough to stop my body. I felt that he tried getting me off him but couldn't.

"Y-You're too strong" too strong..? I could barely lift a pile of books. How am I strong..? "Yannie, you have to stop this yourself."

"You smell so good" I licked his neck, giving him chills "just a little... that's all I want."

"Yannie, you said you didn't want to drink human blood. What do I have to do to wake you up?" I was nearly about to bite him before I heard Grace knock on the door.

"Guys! Breakfast is ready!" Xavier panicked and watched me leaning away just a bit, but I was still staring at his neck.

"I'll be right there!" Who locked the door?

Right before I was about to go back to his neck, he grabbed the back of my neck and jammed my lips onto his. I snapped out of it almost immediately and jumped off him, holding my mouth in shock.

"I'd thought that would get you off" he sat up and smirked mischievously. I blushed and pulled on my hair, more focused about what I did to him instead of what he did to me "How are you feeling?"

"How am I feeling? How do you think I felt?" I pulled my hair with both my hands "I had no control... Imagine if I actually did hurt you? You weren't able to move me" I shut my eyes, feeling my tears balling out "I think it's better if I just go back home... Mom promised she'll show me the world when she gets home in a few months."

"You want to go home where your friend died? Where those people hurt your Pokémon and where you were locked up for being who you are? No way, why would I let you go back there? We're doing this together, okay? Why would you rather go back into hiding than go out to see the world? You've been waiting for so long."

"I don't want to hurt you... I don't want to hurt anyone."

"You won't hurt anyone. You're only attracted to me, so I'll be the one that's supposedly in danger. I'm a hunter; I can take care of myself."

"Says the one that had to stop me by taking my first kiss" he smirked like he accomplished something.

"I don't mind being your first in everything" I blushed out of control and covered my face embarrassed. He showed up in front of me to offer his hand that's now covered in the special wrap he told me about, but his scent was still around... "It's good to want something, at least. I don't mind giving you my blood if it means you can be healthy. If you want to remain humane, it's up to you to control yourself" I looked down before taking his hand and stood up, using his strength instead of my own to get back up on my feet.

"How can you trust me so easily?" He went to the box he brought earlier and came back with two small individual ones.

"Because you care about my safety, and that's got to mean something" he gave me the boxes. I took them and walked to the bed to open them and saw that he got me a pair of contact lenses and a contact case.

"Oh!" I looked at the color "Brown contacts?"

"They're the closest one to your color and the closest to a normal human color. Wearing these should help you blend in" I smiled and started setting them up "You can do that later. You need to do that with clean hands. Let's eat first."

"Okay" I put everything down and looked through the box. It looks like it's just clothes and equipment for a real adventure. This is pretty exciting, yet scary... Can I really trust myself with Xavier to not snap or trust myself to stay away from the violence? If I'm spotted, I'm toast... the Elite Four might be looking for me, maybe, so I have to keep an eye out.

"Did you know it's easy to tell who has contact lenses? I can use my keen eye to spot it from a few feet away" I said

"That's helpful," he said while setting things into travel bags "What else do you know?"

"A lot," I looked out the window "So what's this about being a scholar?"

"I'll tell you later" I nodded.

"Anyways, I know a lot more than anyone out there... Everyone is born to do something, and I guess I was born to hold the knowledge to help a hunter" I smiled "again, I'm not sure how I feel about you killing my race."

"Only if they're bad. We discussed this" he slapped his hands clean "I'll go get our breakfast so we can eat here and discuss what the plan is"

"Plan?" I tilted my head, "Xavier, on the side of helping people by being a hunter, is there anything else you want to do on this journey?" He froze before a smirk formed. That... can't be good.

"Funny you may ask" he scooted closer to me "Don't tell my mom, but I'm actually planning on doing something very dangerous"

"More dangerous than hunting vampires?" He nodded proudly.

"I'm going to hunt the Gym Leaders" I scooted away in horror "I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out!"

"You're right... That is dangerous. You must have a death wish" I frowned "You have a hard head... Do you know anything about them?"

"As much as I know from the hunter browser. If you kill a member, then the vampires that had bonded with them will lose their powerful strength and have the same power as we humans do" I sweatdropped, knowing this is what humans knew.

"I see..."

"My main goal is to kill the council. It may seem like an impossible task, but I have hope" his eyes sparkled while looking at my worried ones. What? Does he think I can do something? I have nothing to go against them, "and once I'm done with them, I'm taking on the Elite four!" My blood dropped.

"Y-You can't be serious..." I choked.

"And after them, I'm going after the royal family" I sweatdropped, knowing that was absolutely crazy. H-He's in way over his head. Why is he so confident? Not once did his heart race to detect that he was nervous. He's too much... How is he not scared of dying? Does he really think that blood of his will keep him from getting killed? It may keep him from getting randomly attacked, but not getting killed.

"Don't be a reckless, Xavier" I crossed my arms, trying to act cool "The Elite four is so much stronger than the council."

"Obviously. Don't worry, I got this" he winked and got up "I'll be back with the food" I pouted and laid on the floor. He is way too confident. He may be the one with the strength but looks like he has no brains. I'll probably have to be the one to protect him if he's not going to make this easy.

"Xavier... The Elite Four's information is nonexistent. You don't know their weakness, nor their strength" I closed my eyes "They're not Vampires..." I then looked at the ceiling, "They're Demons."

The Elite Four had shown up before regular vampires roamed the earth. They suddenly had the power over all to control everything and make the world their playground. Even they know they have a weakness. It may not be physical, but I'm a bit too afraid to think about it or look into it.

The royal family may be above them, but they have the power we watch them use while we stand back and let them do it. I'm not entirely sure why my mom can't do anything about them, but I have a feeling it was because of me and dad.

I may have the full details, but I can't say too much. Xavier wants to make the goal of killing the powerful vampires. He thinks just like a child would. No understanding on how things work, not scared of his own death, curious, blind... I guess it's good that I'll join him to make everything balanced. I'll keep him from getting killed, but how exactly do I do anything without messing up?

"Killing the Council will weaken all, you say?" I snorted "You'll be killing those bonded vampires, and then one out of all vampires will die. If he succeeds with just those leaders, the vampire race will nearly go instinct" I spoke in my head and got up to go to the bathroom with my contact case to put on the lenses.

"Going after a set of demons and my own family... huh. I wonder what he'll think when he finds out I'm his worse enemy's princess."
