Chapter 15: Viola*
"You know..." Viola stopped when we approached the battlefield "I'm going to be nice for once. If you leave now, I'll spare your lives. I have better things to do than mess with weaklings" Xavier helped me walk and glared at her.
"I'm up to any challenge! Bring it on!" I frowned at his confidence and looked at Viola watching me.
"Whats so important that you have the need to let us leave here alive?" I asked. She smirked.
"I'm heading to the castle" I flinched "Apparently something big happened... something illegal had escaped the walls" I cupped my mouth, knowing she was talking about me. So it took them this long to find out? "It's up to you. Leave alive or stay and die? It's really your choice" she giggled. Xavier sent out Frogadier.
"Bring it on, bitch!" He yelled. She rolled her eyes and made her way to the other side of the field.
"I haven't really said this in a minute, but I am Viola. I'm a bug type gym leader and a council member of the Kingdom of the Kalos! It won't matter though, you and your little friend won't be alive long enough to tell people who I am. I like your determination, so I accept your challenge" she glanced at me again "once I kill him, I'm coming after you" I hid behind Xavier readying himself for battle, hearing her laugh at my insecurities.
Viola sent out her own Pokémon and the battle had begun. Xavier shouted and pushed his Pokémon towards victory, but it wasn't so easy...
"Vivillion! Dodge and use Silverwind!" Viola shouted. Her Pokémon groaned in pain before flapping its uneven wings to attack a massive amount of wind. Frogadier could hardly stand a chance.
"Dammit... She's so much stronger than any trainer I've ever faced" he muttered to himself. Is this really how he needs to learn..? He put his pride before his brain. Council members have different blood than regular vampires, so of course they're stronger. Her Pokémon are even stronger because of her blood!
"Bubblebeam!" He shouted. Vivillion moved out the way in less than a second.
"Hurricane!" Viola laughed. The massive amounts of wind caused Frogadier to fly off and slam into the wall.
"Frogadier!" Xavier gasped at his last Pokémon. I cupped my mouth, watching him run towards his fainted Pokémon and try to get it to wake up "no! No! Frogadier! Please wake up! I need you!" He groaned and hurried to dig something out his bag "I can't lose now! I still have this-!"
"I admit, you were pretty strong" Viola laughed, interrupting him "But it takes a lot more than inserting regular vampire blood into your Pokémon's system. There was never a chance for you to win, so why did you decide to not leave when I gave you the chance?" Xavier took out another Pokéball and was slightly shaking with anger.
"I wasn't going to let my grandfather's death go in vain! He worked hard to get where he was and was considered one of the best! You monsters were the one that killed him! It's because of your kind that made this world hell!" My heart sank. So that's why he's doing this. This was much more than his ego. He does want revenge...
I looked back at Viola laughing like he just told a joke "That's what he gets for trying to mess with us! We are above the food chain, dear! Why bother if you know you can't survive?" She appeared in front of him, grabbed his neck, and threw him in the middle of the field.
"Xavier!" I gasped. He groaned and sat up, holding his elbow in pain, still holding onto that Pokéball. Oh no... did something happen..? I looked at Viola's eyes turn black and her fangs stuck out her hungry smile.
"I haven't killed anyone in a long time... I hope your blood taste better than it smells" I knew what she was going to do once she takes another step. I grabbed my vampire blade and threw it at her neck at the perfect spot where she was midway towards him.
She froze and slowly looked at me breathing heavily before taking out the blade "Oh my... nice throw" she smirked and looked at me from behind her shoulder.
"Yannie!" Xavier gasped "get out of here! Save yourself!" I shook my head and watched Viola staring at me. I stood on my spot and stared back at her making her nails as shape as knives.
"Oh, my sweet little princess" she mocked "What makes you think you can help this pathetic human?" She tilted her head to the side "Why did you run? Did you really think you'll be accepted by anyone?" My fist were shaking.
"That's none of your business" she snorted and walked causally to stand behind Xavier trying to hold in his pain from his elbow.
"Maybe. Hey kid" she spoke to him "You see that girl over there? There was no reason for you to bring her here. You probably just saved the trouble of finding her, actually" his eyes widened "now then, Yannie" she grabbed his hair and pulled him up to dangle in the air.
"Xavier!" I gasped.
"Xavier... Look at her. She's quite ugly, isn't she?" I felt my heart drop at the insult and I cowered down a little "She's a disgrace and worth nothing. I don't know what made you think having her with you would benefit you at the slightest, but take a look at her now. That's the last thing you'll see before you die" he glared while holding in his pain and looked at me painfully, like he felt guilty. No... Xavier!
"I admit, you sure were brave" she pointed her sharp nail on his chest, cutting through his jacket and skin. I choked and held my chest, feeling my insides wanting to explode from the wonderful smell "but being brave doesn't always get you anywhere" she smelled her finger and gagged "What disgusting smelling blood... no matter. I don't care for the blood of those who think they can defeat me like you tried doing. Even if I did, it's trash. It's not worth a taste" I fell on my knees and automatically tried pulling myself away. I didn't trust my body enough to see what will happen if I just let myself go...
"Yannie! Come on! Just save yourself!" Xavier groaned. I shook my head, having a hard time looking at which path to choose while my world was spinning. On one path my human self was facing away, breathing heavily and painfully while my vampire self stared at me from the side eye, waiting for me to go towards her.
My instincts were overcoming my senses. My human self wasn't going to help me at this point. This wasn't about me anymore. If I trust that side of myself to keep my other self from killing him, I can save the both of us.
I looked at my self with the red eyes smiling at me and offer her hand. I took her hand, feeling my brain spark and growl for the delicious blood leaking from Xavier's chest.
"Xavier..." I groaned, holding my dry throat.
"Y-Yannie..?" I pushed myself to walk towards them a few feet away from me. Viola was shaking while looking into my eyes. My intimation was enough to make her drop Xavier and back away.
I crawled over his body and grabbed his neck, staring at him staring at me wide eyed. He then frowned and closed his eyes. Once he did that, I leaned in to his neck to give him a wide lick and stuck my fangs into his skin.
My pulse erupted in contact with the blood. The flavors were unlike anything I ever tasted before. The fluids felt like they were burning my throat, like fireworks. My insides were exploding like a flower blooming within seconds. I wanted more of him...
"Y-Yannie..." Xavier moaned. I opened my eyes, coming back to reality, and licked his wound clean, watching it heal on its own before I snapped my head at Viola shaking like a tree in a hurricane. I slowly stood up and walked towards her, watching her hurry to walk backwards.
"W-Wait!" She raised her arm to stop me "W-What is this?! How are you doin-" I skipped a step and grabbed her neck, squeezing her and slammed her on the floor. She spat up and stared at me in horror, unable to talk due to my hand preventing her to.
"He couldn't kill you, but what about me?" My voice spoke on its own, mostly how mom spoke when she kept the Elite four from killing me "Think I can kill you?"
"P-Princess..?" She gasped, trying to remove my hand from my strong grip "H-How..?"
"This world doesn't need anymore monsters like you. You didn't even bat an eye when stating you'll kill my friend. Your kind makes me sick" I leaned closer to her face "I went this long without blood and acted as normal as possible... but look at what you did" I raised my hand and stabbed through her chest, squeezing her heart. She started drooling blood.
"Y-You'll be killing a large chunk of your population..."
"My population..? Hah..." I narrowed my eyes "Never once had anyone in the castle ever cared about me. I know I'll be risking many lives, but with you out the way... many more will be saved" I heard something moving behind me. I looked over at Xavier crawling towards us with his bag and took out a syringe to take out a decent amount of blood from her. I looked back at Viola keeping her eyes on me.
"Would you look at that..." she chuckled, coughing "You are exactly... What your mother wanted you to be"
"What exactly would that be?" I bit my arm to fill my mouth with blood.
"A difference..." I pulled her heart out and spat my blood into her wound. She gasped at the connection and rolled her eyes to the back of her head before turning into dust. Xavier pulled out the syringe just in time and looked at the small bottle he had on him, staring at the white color.
"White..?" He looked at me laying on top of a pile of sand "Yannie..." I looked at the part where I bit him, seeing no mark at all, and blushed when knowing I had put my hands on him and stole from him without getting his permission.
"I'm sorry..." I looked down "I should had asked" he grabbed my shoulder and wrapped his arms around me. I stared at him surprised and heard him sobbing.
"I'm the one that should be sorry. Yannie... I'm so sorry" I frowned and hugged him back "This wouldn't have happened if I just listen to everyone"
"You did what you had to do. I'm just glad you let me join along. We're alive" he let go and looked at the syringe without the needle he removed. "You're carrying the last few drops of her blood. The rest of it is gone along with those who bonded with it in Kalos, but this one is still strong and will last for a live time"
"Why is it white..?" I helped him stand up and fixed his hair.
"They're white blood cells" I looked at my hand, seeing that I was still holding Viola's heart "What... do I do with this?" I came back to my senses and placed it on top of the sand while Xavier collected it with a bag with writing on top and placed the heart inside a different bag.
"This will be going to the lab" I nodded and looked down, ashamed "Hey... you okay?" I touched my lips with the hand that wasn't covered in white blood. He took out a wipe to help clean it off and splashed some liquid on it for disinfectant.
"After so long of avoiding it... I drank human blood" he pet my head "It was unlike anything I ever expected. If you didn't say anything, I could had killed you"
"Good thing I did, otherwise you would had blamed yourself and you'd be alone" I nodded and started crying "You did good, Yannie. Thank you"
"I'm sorry... You saw a part of me I didn't want to be"
"You're a vampire. That was your personality. It's who you are. There's no need to feel bad" he shook the bag "The Professor will be impressed, but also very angry" he helped me on my feet, almost falling over.
"Xavier!" I helped him up.
"Sorry... I just feel a little dizzy" it must be from the blood I took from him. I frowned when he pushed away to help steady himself and I went off to look for the official council badge.
I looked back at Xavier grabbing his phone and pressed it on his ear without realizing his hands were bloody. I approached a desk with various papers and flash drives. There laid the official council badge in the shape of a bug.
"Never thought I would've done something like this... It may be too risky to do it again. I hope he's not wanting to take care of the rest of them after what happened" I sighed and peaked up to notice a security camera above me. I narrowed my eyes and punched it off the wall, breaking it "Don't want anyone seeing that..."
I hurried back to Xavier after gathering a few things I'd like to see later and walked him out the gallery. As soon as we walked out, it was suddenly dark out and people were in a panic.
Dust was blowing everywhere and people were screaming in fear and very few even crying. I gulped nervously and looked at Xavier looking down, like he was ashamed of what happened.
"Xavier?" I spoke "Let's not do this again... okay?" He didn't say anything as I helped him down the stairs and sensed Shauna running towards us.
"Guy! There you are! You won't believe this! People are suddenly turning into..." she stared at us, slowly realizing what we did "Dust..." she cupped her mouth "n-no way..." she looked at the blood on my face and around my mouth... "Did you guys..?" I nodded and showed her the council badge "oh my goodness..." she teared "you're alive"
"This isn't the place to talk... I think I took too much. Let's take him to the Pokémon center" she nodded and helped me walk him.
As soon as we arrived inside the building. It was dead quiet. I looked around and stared at the humans staring at a few piles of dust and saw Trevor and Tierno collecting tons of blood from some patients that I sensed were vampires. These vampires had a pained look in their eyes.
"As soon as I collect all the blood, you'll be gone" Trevor told the patient he was collecting from.
"This blood will be useful to someone who needs it. I'll be dying soon, so might as well give it all up" I gave Xavier to Shauna and walked up to the man. Is he the good vampire I heard about? I didn't expect to meet one so soon.
"You're donating all your blood" I spoke. He looked up at me and flinched "how generous for a vampire" Trevor didn't say anything and took out another Syringe to collect more "You said you're going to die soon? What makes you think so?"
"Something happened to Viola... in result, many of the ones who bonded with her had lost their powers and died off"
"Why are you still alive?" He chuckled at my question.
"I didn't take much from her... When she was giving her people her blood, she got too busy to give me the recommended amount. I'll give up my blood before it goes to waste" I smiled and held his shoulder, surprising him.
"Thank you so much for your service" he ended up smiling.
"Princess..." his body suddenly turned into dust at the same time Trevor was finished. I stared at the pile of dust in shock and looked at my hand that touched him. He called me princess... How did he know that?
I sighed and looked at Trevor eyeing me before looking at my clothes "We ran into a situation... she's gone" I said. His face slowly went pale.
"You're kidding..." Tierno showed up after losing his patient as well "Did Xavier really..." I smiled, rather giving him the credit to make it less suspicious. My smile was enough to make them speechless and hurry over to Shauna talking to the nurse before the nurse took Xavier away. Xavier... hopefully I didn't take too much.
