Chapter 15

Rustboro Tournament

I gave Ryker the orb and he hid it away with the others, I assume. We split up at the dorms and went to ours rooms. My mom said exciting things would happen here. I didn't think exciting would mean getting a gun in your face.

The next day at battle club, Mr. Curt announced who was going to the tournament. I was not one of them. Maybe it was because I skipped battle club that one time. Anyway, Preston, Allen, and two other girls were picked. I told Abbie about after battle club was done.

"Sorry, maybe next time." She said.

"It's alright. I was thinking we could take a bus up to see them in the tournament. It'll only be a one day tournament."

"That's a great idea!"

Our plan was to walk into the city and take a bus up to Rustboro and go to the stadium there. We were also considering to ask Cress and Jase to come with us. They would want to Preston battle. That was the reason I want to go. For Preston.

"Hey, Abbie." I said.

"What is it?"

"What are you gonna do after Graduation. I mean, have you given it any thought?"

"I have."

"Are you gonna be like a Trainer, or a Breeder, or a researcher, or even a Cooridnator?"

"I'm not sure. All I know is that be happy just being with my Pokemon. I don't really have any desire of drive for any of them. I like battling, but I'm not as good as you."

"I can't be that good if I wasn't picked for such a simple tournament."

"Mr. Curt is probably waiting to put you in the Regional Championship this winter. I heard Sinnoh is supposed to host it. You'll face trainers around the world."

I smiled. "You really think so?"

"Yeah!"

When the tournament came around we loaded on to a bus with Cress and Jase. We talked and predicted how the bracket would work out.

We arrived in Rustboro and walked to the Gym where the tournament was. We took our seats at the bleachers. I sent out my Pokemon to watch. My friends did the same. Preston was the first to battle. His Blaziken was at a huge disadvantage against his opponent's Graveler. But, Blaziken pulled through and came out on top. Blue watched the battling Pokemon with admiration. His eyes darted around, following every move. We all cheered for our classmates. Allen made it to the third round but was knocked out. The two other girls lost almost immediately.

Preston made it all the way to the finals. In the middle of the battle, Blue nudged my arm. He pointed to the battle then to himself.

"Oh, do want to battle?" I said. He nodded. "Okay we will start training tomorrow."

He jumped on my lap. "Mud, Mudkip!"

"Blaziken, Blaze Kick!" Preston shouted. Blaziken swung back his fiery leg and planted it in the Meinfoo's stomach. Meinfoo went crashing to the ground and Preston won! After a long battle, he won!

We stormed the battle field and congratulated him. Jase and Cress patted him on the back and also kind of half-hugged. We went outside the gym and sat on some stone benches. Preston had time before he had to go to the bus and leave.

"You were amazing," I said,"it was fun watching you battle."

"Thanks, Bree," he closed his arms around me and pulled me into a hug. "I can't wait to see you battle in your first tournament." I returned his hug. I could feel his warmth. To my disappointment he pulled away.

"Preston!" Mr. Curt yelled.

"I should get going. See you guys tomorrow." He got up and headed for the bus. My eyes followed him until he was out of sight.

Author note: Hey guys how's it going! What did you think about the chapter? Good, bad, meh? It's short and pretty much filler. I know what your thinking. Most of you people think I'm a stupid loser for not updating for about two weeks. I know this chapter may not be the best but the next chapters should be a lot better. Please don't give up on me.
