A/N: here's chapter 4 for ya guys. So this will be our first gym battle for the story. 

The next day 

The group is awake and well rested from starting their adventure yesterday and after having breakfast the group go to leave the Pokemon Centre just then Josh turns back and walks over to where a woman with pink hair and wearing a nurses uniform is standing. "Excuse me Nurse Joy"? He asks as Nurse Joy gives him a smile and responds. "Yes, how may I hep you"? Josh then asks his question. "Do you know who the first Gym Leader of this region is"? Nurse Joy smiles and nods her head as she replies. "Of course, that would be Brock he's the Gym Leader of this town". Josh thanks Nurse Joy and returns to the group and says. "So our first Gym Leader is in this town and their name is Brock". 

The group exit the Pokemon Centre and ask around town as to where the Gym is and they are pointed to a building on the western side of the town. They are greeted at the door by two people, a boy and a girl both teenagers. "You here to face Brock"? The boy asks as Faedra sarcastically retorts. "No we're just doing some exploring around town". The boy glares at Faedra but the girl says. "Brock is just inside, are all of you planning to take him on"? The whole group nod as the girl says. "Wonderful if you head inside I'll let Brock know he has some challengers". The boy gives Faedra one last scowl as he and the girl enter the building followed by the group. 

Inside the Gym 

The group step out onto the battle field and see that there are lots of rocks of various shapes and sizes scattered around. "I see, so you are my challengers then". A voice announces as the group turn to see a man that looks like he's in his mid 50s with short and spiky grey hair that still has some shades of dark brown in there, he is wearing a long sleeved dark brown shirt and cream coloured khaki trousers and brown boots. "I'm Brock, Pewter City's Gym Leader. I used primarily use Rock Type Pokemon. Now which one of you is first"? Grey steps forward and says. "I'll go first". As he and Brock get into positions for the battle and ready their Pokeballs. "What is your name"? Brock asks as Grey replies. "The name is Grey". Brock nods as he says. "Okay Grey give me your best".

Grey Vs Brock 

Both trainers send out their first with Grey's first Pokemon being his Charmander and Brock's first Pokemon is a Geodude. "Charmander use Scratch". Grey calls out as the Charmander rushes forward and scratches at the circle rock like creature but it doesn't look like it did a lot of damage to the Geodude as Brock says. "Rookie trainer I take it"? Grey nods but replies. "I know my attack isn't the best to use against a Rock Type but my Charmander is the best option I have against your Geodude". Brock looks impressed as he says. "Geodude use Tackle". As the rock like creature bounds towards the Charmander but the orange lizard like creature just about dodges the attack with Grey yelling. "Charmander use Ember now"! As the Charmander swings its tail as a spray of fire hits the Geodude in the eye stunning it briefly as Grey says. "Alright Charmander use Scratch again". 

Charmander runs up to the Geodude and scratches at it again and then again and one last time as the Geodude falls to the floor unconscious. "Brock's Geodude is unable to battle". The girl at the entrance announces as Brock chuckles and says. "Good work in taking down my Geodude but let's see how you deal with my Onix"! As Brock sends out his next Pokemon which is a massive snake like creature made entirely of rocks. 

"Onix use Bide". Brock calls out as Onix coils up as Grey says. "Charmander use Ember". As Charmander leaps up the coils of Onix's body and sprays some fire into it's face but Brock yells. "Onix close your eyes"! As the large rock snake shuts its eyes tight as the fire scatters across it's face but not into it's eyes. "I'm not going to fall for the same trick twice, I didn't get to become Gym Leader by being stupid". Grey replies. "Who says I was aiming for your Pokemon's eyes"? Brock and everyone looks confused as Grey says. "Charmander use Growl". As the orange lizard like creature lets out its most fearsome growl however the Onix seems to not be as affected as the Charmander likes. 

"Onix now unleash your Bide"! Brock yells as Onix uncoils as fast as it can and slams it's tail into the Charmander knocking it into the far wall of the Gym. "That's the power of Bide". Grey chuckles as he says. "Oh I know but there's always a downside of Bide, especially if your opponent knows how the move works". Brock again looks confused as Grey says. "Instead of explaining how about I show you. Charmander use Ember now"! As Charmander quickly gets to it's feet and runs over to the Onix, Brock looks on in shock as the boy from the door yells out in shock. "What! I've never seen a Pokemon get up from Onix's Bide attack"! Charmander leaps into the air and hit Onix with another Ember and then swings it's tail in the opposite direction launching another Ember and as it falls back down to the ground just scratches it as much as it can. 

Onix lets out a loud cry as it falls over unconscious. "O-O-Onix is un-unable to b-battle. G-Grey is the w-winner". The girl announces in complete shock as Grey walks over to Brock and says. "The problem with Bide is that it's only as strong as the attacks the Pokemon absorbs". Brock smiles as he replies. "You know more than your average rookie trainer". Grey shrugs as he replies. "It pays to be prepared". Brock nods in agreement as he hands him a badge and says. "Here is your first Gym Badge, the Boulder Badge. This is your first step to entering the Indigo League". Grey thanks Brock and leaves the Gym as Brock says. "Damn he really got my fire for battle going". Brock turns to the rest of the group and asks. "Okay which of you wishes to challenge me next"? As Faedra steps forward and challenges Brock. 

A/N: and that concludes this chapter for ya guys, hopefully ya guys enjoyed this chapter and are excited for the next couple chapters for the up and coming gym battles for the rest of the group.
