Rival Raihan
Leon proceeded down the next route and into Galar Mines 1 where he once again got lost. After going down every wrong way he tripped on a rock. The rock however, cried out and attacked!
A wild Roggenrola appeared!
Leon thought to himself, "Well I certainly could use a second Pokémon..."
Leon threw an Ultra Ball and captured the little guy before sending it back out to speak to it.
"Hey little buddy," he greeted the Pokémon, "I'm Leon. Your trainer. You ready to go?"
The Roggenrola joyfully cried out and rubbed on Leon's leg, its rocky body slightly warm as it let out a friendly cry.
Leon exclaimed, "Great! Let's hit the Gym and-"
Leon then stopped as a young man sat at the exit of the cave cooking curry in an orange hat. The young man turned to see Leon and waved to him, "Hi. Come, sit. Have a bite."
Leon complied, "Why thank you. I'm Leon. You?"
"Name's Raihan," he explained stirring the curry as his Trapinch rested on top of his head, sniffing the curry eagerly, "And this is my partner, Trapinch. Hey are you OK with sour?"
"Sour sounds good," Leon replied.
"Great," Raihan smiled throwing in some berries, "So Leon what brings you into the Gym Challenge."
"Long story," Leon replied solemnly gripping the letter in his pocket, "You?"
"I just wanna be strong," Raihan smiled, "Maybe make some new friends along the way. Curry's done.
Raihan prepared Leon a plate of curry and the two ate, healing both of their teams.
Raihan got up and stretched, "Ah what a good meal. Anyways, Leon, there's a belief I hold."
"What is it?" Leon asked.
"The best way to form a friendship is a battle," Raihan smiled, "And I quite enjoy your company so, how about a battle?"
Leon had a chance to go and prepare prior but felt ready and nodded, "Let's go!"
Pokémon Trainer Raihan would like to battle!
Raihan took a feral, borderline animalistic stance as the battle began, and his once calm and kind personality gave way to a loud and combative persona, "Trapinch! Crush em!"
Charmeleon prepared to use Slash, dashing forward with sharp claws at the ready, and cut the orange Pokémon across the stomach, the massive wound to much for the small creature to bare and faianted it. Raihan sent out his second Pokémon, a Rhyhorn which Charmeleon once more tried to attack, this time with Flamethrower, belching a jet of scorching flames from deep within its stomach that scorched the rocky flesh as it struck with Bulldoze, shaking the ground with a mighty stomp that sent shards of the soil flying through the air. Charmeleon was impaled and fell over, fainted, but not without injuring the Rhyhorn.
The Rhyhorn kicked up dirt and snarled, blowing hot air, ready to charge as Leon sent out Roggenrola and the battle continues as Rhyhorn used Bulldoze once more, injuring Roggenrola's feet with the shrapnel which dropped its speed as its outer rocky skin chipped off.
This shocked Raihan as Roggenrola countered with Smack Down, slamming a massive rock into his foe, which left Rhyhorn struggling to stand, falling to its knees as the outer she'll around Roggenrola broke down, leaving its body lighter but dropping its defense. However his lighter wright sharply boosted his speed, both revealing his ability to be Weak Armor, and also allowing it to outspeed Rhyhorn and finish the job with a second Smack Down, a second rock slamming Rhyhorn into the ground with a loud thud and a cloud of dust that revealed the faianted foe as it cleared.
Raihan sighed with his arms behind his back, "Curses. At least I put up a fight but I guess I gotta be stronger."
With that Leon and Raihan shook hands, Raihan grinned, "Well amigo I think this might be the start of a long friendship and rivalry."
"I would like that," Leon replied.
"I'll catch up," Raihan added, "I need to train more it seems. Cya later."
"Farewell friend," Leon replied as he waved to Raihan who waves back as he went back into the Mines to train his team further. Leon however, felt ready to face the first gym and moved forward to the next route.
Leon faced a few trainers along the way until he arrived in Turrfield, where he looked around, somewhat confused about which way to go before he heard a voice exclaim, "Look out sir! Rouge Wooloo!"
Leon turned to see a young trainer in worn, denim overalls changing after a rolling Wooloo with a Gossifluer floating behind him, hopping and gently flying every few feet as the young, well toned trainer grabbed the rapidly approaching Wooloo and dug his feet in, pulling the ball of wool to a stop an inch away from Leon.
He caught his breath and stood up, wiping the dust off his pants as he lifted the Wooloo with a smile, "You fluffy little rascal! You can't go wandering off. Ma and pa got real worried."
"Baa!" Wooloo replied.
"Aw I can't stay mad at you Wooloo!" The young trainer exclaimed hugging the friendly Pokémon before he turned to speak to Leon, "Man I'm terribly sorry about the trouble. This little fella has always been timid, even for a Wooloo. Got scared by the bell ringing telling the herd breakfast was ready and rolled clean through the gate! Built up a lotta speed. I thought I was gonna have to have Gossifluer use Sing to put it to sleep. Ha ha!"
"Oh it's not trouble!" Leon exclaimed petting the Wooloo, who closed its eyes as it appeared relaxed by Leon's touch, "Real cutie isn't it?"
"Sure is," Milo replied, "I love my family's Wooloos. Got a farm full of the guys. What's your name anyways? What brings you to our little town?"
"I'm Leon," Leon smiled shaking the trainer's hand, "I'm here for the Gym Challenge. You?"
"Milo," the trainer explained, "I'm just a humble farmer..."
