S.R. Academy Years Ch 9: Deja vu
"Espeon," Kalya purrs, shaking my head.
"It's too early, Kayla," I unconsciously mutter.
Sofly growling, she starts to shake my head a bit more rough this time around.
"I opened the window for you last night..."
"Es," she hisses in return, slowly pushing my head off the bed.
"Fine, what is it?" I groggily lift my head up.
Noticing the barely lit room, still dark as if it was night.
Oh.
Sighing, I get on up from the bed, and walk towards the window. Peering outside, I see the reason why Kayla woke me up...
Our room faces the opposite direction where the sun would rise.
"Can I just go back to sleep and you bathe in it later?" I yawn, glancing to the clock.
Looking back to the bed, Kayla sits glowering at me, her gem faintly glowing. Around her, she holds a set of matching clothing and socks for the day.
"Fine, we'll go out for five minutes."
She continues to stare back, holding my clothes.
"Ten?" She shakes her head, "Alright, we'll be out however long you need. Just be short enough that I could wash up and eat before we leave."
"Espeon," she replies, adding a telepathic glee and hands me my clothes.
In Kayla's interpretation of short, and a bit longer than ten minutes, it takes her forty-five and still counting.
"There you are Crystal!" Dad calls out, joining us next to the hotel's entrance.
"Morning Dad," I yawn back.
"Breakfast?" he holds up a small tray of berries and waffles.
"Thanks, dad. So, when do we leave?"
"In the next hour or so.Just be back in the room when Kayla gets enough sunlight."
"Sure."
In an hour, dad decided that walking to the stadium would be much faster compared to driving to the stadium. More or less, it seemed that both ideas were the worst; people walking to or around the stadium, even though it's three or four blocks away. Vendors selling various wares or food on the way, smells of fresh popcorn and barbeque especially permeate in the air.
By the time we enter the stadium where the battlers enter, I could hear the announcers making the starting speech for the upcoming battles, followed up with roars and cheers.
"Vicktor! Over here," dad's friend waves us over in the hallway ahead of us.
"Ah, so how late are we?"
"Lucky for you, these two right here are in the last group of battles. And you wouldn't mind watching my daughter in the spectator's booth, do you?" the friend gestures behind him. Showing the same girl from yesterday, holding her eevee, and a bag on her shoulders.
"I wouldn't mind, but aren't you late to be commentating the battles?"
"Nah, I'm fine, battles don't start for another five minutes. However, I do need to start leaving right now. Thanks again, Vicktor," the friend pats dad's shoulders, and starts to run in the direction which we came from.
"Come on kids, this way."
Dad guides us through the labyrinth of long hallways, before exiting out into the top edges of the stadium. Everyone in the crowd was cheering, as the announcers commentated the many battles going on in the large arena down below.
Reaching the spectator's booth, which looms near the very top of the stadium, looking down to the stadium, other people are already in here. Not looking like spectators that paid a lot to be in here, but from the looks of it, other battlers and their mentors.
As a few hours ticks on by, there was nothing to really do other than to watch the four total battles down below. Throughout the event, the girl that came with us - who's name is Tori - was recording the battles that interested her the most using a camera that looked more like a telescope.
"Okay, you two are going to be up in a few minutes, follow me," dad says, looking up from his watch. "You two wouldn't mind if I leave you two for the last set of battles, right?"
"Sure thing Mr. Young, my dad told he would come and pick me up when the battles were done anyways."
"Yeah, I'll be fine, dad."
"Alright then, stay here till the battles are over, okay Crystal?"
Nodding my head in agreement, dad guides Junu and Caitlyn out the door, leaving just a few people in the room other than Tori and myself.
When the last battle of the second to last set was done, the intercom introduced each battler in pairs, as well as the school they represented as it has been doing nearly all day.
Looking down below, I couldn't help but start to feel... hungry.
"Really, Kayla, we'll get some food soon. Just wait."
"Es," she softly whines back.
"Vee?" I hear something crumple to my left.
Tori's eevee was holding a back of some poke snacks in its mouth, and places it down next to Kayla.
"I'm not going to go and buy you another bag of food, just so you know," Tori calls out, watching the view monitor of her camera.
"Well, thanks, uh..."
"Mark," Tori calls out.
"Yeah, thanks Mark," I take the bag, opening it up and handing some pieces of the food to Kayla.
Leering at the eevee for some reason, Kayla nibbles at the food. Taking small bits of the finger sized kibble, she starts to eat more and more of it. As she finishes all of the kibble on my hand, she looks up to me, begging for more.
"I'm not going to give anymore, dinner's coming after this last round you know."
"Ess..." she gives a soft hiss.
Patiently waiting, we watch the last of the battles, seeing that both of the representatives from our school had an easy time in the first round. As the final announcements about the upcoming battles that will undergo through the next few days, dad and the other two came up to the booth before the announcements finished.
"So do I need to take you to your dad or no, Tori?"
"I'll be fine, Mr. Young. My father told me to wait for him here after the battles ended. I'll see you tomorrow I think."
"Well, if you say so. Alright, let's get going then Crystal."
Nodding, I pack up a few more things into my bag, and put on my jacket before leaving the booth.
"Go on ahead dad, I want to ask Tori a few things real quick," Junu says, already looking at Tori.
"Ask her what?"
"Just a few questions. Just go, I'll catch up. I know where the hotel is too. And I have Lock and Cerin."
Pausing for a moment, dad gives a nod to Junu and starts to leave, "Okay... well, let's get going then, girls."
