S.R. Academy Years Ch 11: Thanksgiving
A few more days until Thanksgiving day arrives... and my first year having Thanksgiving with a big family. Oh boy.For this year, it happens to be that most, if not all of Junu's family is coming over to our house to celebrate this year. Although, it leaves mom and myself to prepare for some of the food that'll be eaten in the next few days.
"Hey mom," I start, mixing the soup, "do you have your own pokemon too?"
"Me? Well, I haven't had one since I was your age. I've worked with a handful at work. Besides, Caesar is a nice mon to have. Adding more would be a bit of chaos in this house." mom answers, laughing a little.
"So did you ever adventure in Kalos when you turned 10?"
"I did, for a little bit though. I only traveled to Lumiose with an old friend of mine. But I didn't like traveling all too much. However, I was more interested I found a passion for making clothes and costume related making."
"Then were you interested in the Beauty Contests?"
"No, I wasn't really the kind of girl to perform in front of hundreds to thousands of people. I just attended a school that specialized in my passion."
"Then what about a pokemon?"
"Didn't have one. Well I did, throughout the first few years of school, but it was my friend's. He wanted his sewaddle back as he was returning home."
"Wait, so why didn't he let you keep it?"
"It was his first pokemon. Given by his grandma. Out of the kindness of his heart -and me struggling to keep up with classes and assignments- he lent me his sewaddle. As I made the promise to return his sewaddle back once he traveled all of Kalos," mom gives a small sigh, but smiling.
"We do keep in contact time to time. And the sewaddle happened to memorize the lessons we took in the classes. Sending me a few silk clothings time to time."
"Mind if I could see them sometime?"
"Sure, though you should pay attention, Kayla has been holding your hand away from the hot lot."
Glancing back to the stove, my left arm glows. Right above the pot that's been burning for over ten minutes.
Giving a yelp, I give a small jump away from it. Hearing a big sigh with it.
"Heh heh, thanks Kayla," I lean down, petting her head.
----------
Dad said most of the family would come...
Around midday, the large house is filled with strangers that are now my adoptive family. Many greeting, asking who I was, few giving pity, but with comforting smiles.
At first I thought I would be too nervous to even talk to a few. But most of them are so nice, that I talked a little.
With a surprise yell from the front door, few of the elderly and adults walk over. Greeting much more and louder compared to the rest that came in.
"Alicia!" dad yells, walking through the now parting crowd. "I thought you said you couldn't come!" dad gives a beartic of a hug.
"Yeah, yeah uncle. I managed my boss to let me get out today. Oh, and this is Jacob, Jacob this uncle Vicktor." Alicia gestures to the boy behind her, along with a crazy, red haired girl.
Giving a handshake, dad asks, "How well is your mother taking care of you? If she isn't, just let me give her a lesson so that she does, hmm?"
Laughing, the boy replies, "I say she's doing a great job, considering her job. Although I personally think it's our mightyena that needs to be well watched."
"Well, don't want any more flies to enter, come on in. And do you mind sending the rest of you to the back, Tristana? Make sure all of you behave, ok?" dad pets the girl's hair.
""Sure thing, uncle Vicktor," she turns around, and Jacob follows behind.
Tristana... wasn't she a zoroark? Pondering over the thought, Tristana gives a wave to me before she heads on out.
Curious, I pick up my shoes from the front door, and start to head to the back. My curiosity influences Kayla to follow from wherever she was. The backdoor, as spacious as it is, is filled with the family's pokemon, children, and adults tending the grills or keeping an eye on the kids.
Looking around for Jacob and Tristana, I catch the two of them parting ways. Tristana - with three other pokemon with her - head to the only tree at the back of the house, while Jacob starts to heads to the back door, where I stand to look out.
"Moving out of the way, for him to enter, he takes a peek in, before he backs off, muttering that there's too many relatives. Looking back around, he starts to walk in the direction of the red haired girl.
Nudging at my leg, Kayla mews in the direction where Jacob is heading to.
"Where are they?" Junu comes up behind me, making me flinch.
"Who?"
"Jacob and Tristana."
"Over there, I point over."
But Junu was already making way. Still curious, I follow up behind him. Nearly tripping as Cerin runs right under my legs. Reaching the tree where Jacob and the girl sits, I stand next to them, Junu's attention to them.
"Great victory, not that it was really was a real battle," the girl replies. Her voice almost quiet, as if tired.
For the first time, I see Junu smiling as if he was receiving a gift from Arceus himself.
"Oh come on, Trist, he did great considering the fact that he was going against someone that was cheating."
"What do you think, Mason?"
Popping from her hair - I definitely now believe that she is Tristana the zoroark - an eevee barks out. Following with a growling sound that comes out of nowhere.
"So, this is the infamous Mason?" Junu speaks up, petting the eevee's head.
"Well that's rude of you to be more curious to this runt, and not your new sister," Tristana glances to me.
"Right... Well, this is Tristana and Jacob. Jacob here is also adopted by Alicia, if you didn't know."
"Hey, Crystal," Jacob gives a friendly wave.
For a momentary purple flash, a zoroark appears, giving a smile alongside an eevee in her hair. Before the similar flash appears again, giving sight the girl that was there.
"Woah..."
Cerin does her fair share of showing her illusion abilities, but Tristana's... Hers is much more faster, gives off less glow, and just more controlled is all I can say.
Yipping, Cerin climbs onto the laps of Tristana's legs. Receiving a glare from Tristana.
"That's still kind of disturbing, you know," Junu speaks up, looking at Tristana's expression.
"Huh?" Jacob says in return, glancing between Tristana and Junu.
"What?" Tristana raises an eyebrow to Junu.
"Exactly that, able to make expressions like that."
"Are you accusing me that I'm a ditto then easily noticeable by their facial expressions of the copied being?"
"No, the fact you can make expressions. I've seen countless of videos of other zoroarks. Not a single one I've seen could emulate human expressions so well as you do. Using a human illusion, of course."
"Tch, that's a disgrace. Then again, the ones you saw probably grew up with humans only - using their illusions by instinct. Rather than taught it by actual mothers and fathers."
"Then Cerin wouldn't be able to do illusions like you then..." Junu pointedly looks down, softly petting Cerin's head.
"Not particularly. She can help a little," tristana points and index finger at me.
"Me?"
"No, your espeon, Kayla was it?"
"Yeah. I don't see how she can help. Let alone help Cerin... considering how Cerin usually is."
"If Kayla here does help then. Command her to emit some psychic powers off. Then, Cerin here should be able to create bigger, stronger, and more realistic illusions. However, she'll need to practice with me particularly, in order to actually know how to move and use the illusions she creates. After a while, she'll be able to create similar illusions without," Tristana explains, whilst batting away Cerin from her hair.
"On the other hand, the runt in my hair would be more annoying to live with instead of Cerin."
"Vee, vee," the eevee nods in agreement, hopping out of Tristana's hair, before running off, Cerin following behind.
"That runt," Tristana sighs, eyeing the eevee.
Still running through the backyard before he is tackled by a mightyena. Alongside an absol and braixen behind. The eevee making some panicked sounds.
"Good, eat him now so I don't have to hear his whining anymore," Tristana yells at the group.
"So Mason is really that more of a trouble?" Junu asks, still beaming the near unusual smile of his as the group of pokemon heads to us - the eevee in the maw of the mightyena.
Dropping off Mason from his maw, the mightyena looks to Tristana and barks a few times. Making the braixen and absol to start giggling.
"I'd rather do it to you instead. All that fat would probably be much better to cook with," Tristana threats, followed by laughter this time.
Brushing by me, Lock walks up, and the laughter starts to die down.
"At least you have a friend to play with, Lock," Junu pets Lock's head as Lock passes by.
Ignoring Junu, Lock now stands right in front of the now silent group. The first is to start speaking - well more like barks - is the eevee, looking standing in front of the much taller and stronger Lock.
"Lock, is there something wrong?" Junu asks, moving over to Lock.
In answer, Lock gives a small "absol," still looking at the other absol. Head tilted to the side, the other absol gives a small nod and reply back. As Lock walks a little more closer to the absol, he says something in the language of pokemon. Something that makes the absol start laughing as loud as it was laughing not too long ago.
"How the hell are oran berries beautiful to hear?" Tristana speaks up first, an eyebrow raising an eyebrow to Lock and the other absol.
Lock says something in return, but it seems to be directed at the other absol.
"What? What do you mean, sister? I thought you were found here, in Kalos. Not Sinnoh."
"Wait, what is he saying, Trist?" Junu glances to Tristana as the Lock and Allison start to nuzzle each other.
"Well, it appears that Allison has an older brother. Lock."
"You guys didn't know that Lock had uh Allison as a sibling?" I ask getting a small frown from both Tristana and Junu.
"No, if I remember my uncle found Allison in Sinnoh, somewhere between Mt. Cornet and Eterna City," Jacob answers.
"While I found Lock near the school about a year ago. We never had Allison and Lock meet each other. Then again, I met with my cousin rarely when he was spending time in this region."
"Well, looks like Lock here has a story to tell for us then. As he just said he wants to," Tristana says, looking at Lock with a small frown, staying quiet for a little.
"Something wrong, Tristana?" Jacob taps Tristana's shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Go ahead and start if you want, Lock," Tristana answers in return.
Then, we all sat around Lock as he told what happened to him and how he got into Kalos. Giving a few nuzzles here and there with Allison.
