🐧 shipping wedding

The scene was utter chaos. Kenny stood under a makeshift arch made of balloons and streamers, his expression caught somewhere between confusion and horror. Dawn was standing across from him, her pale blue gown swishing slightly as she shifted awkwardly.

"Mia," Dawn said through clenched teeth, "what exactly is going on?"

Mia, standing on a stool behind a lectern she’d fashioned out of an overturned cardboard box, adjusted her glasses with an air of authority. "Your wedding, Aunt Dawn. Now shush. We need to start with the vows!"

Kenny turned to Dawn, incredulous. "Dee Dee, what is happening right now? Why are there rings? Actual rings!"

Dawn groaned, her head in her hands. "Don’t ask me, Kenny. Apparently, my nieces have decided to ruin my life today."

"Silence, adults!" Mia declared dramatically, pointing a ruler at them. "Uncle Kenny, you go first. Read this!" She handed him a folded piece of paper covered in handwriting and, unfortunately, glitter glue.

Kenny unfolded the paper and scanned the words, his face going pale. "Mia, no way. This is—"

"Read it, Uncle Kenny, or else!" Avery threatened, holding up another foam block.

Kenny sighed in defeat, clearing his throat. "Fine, fine! But for the record, I did not write this."

He began to read, his voice dripping with forced enthusiasm.

"Dawn, from the moment I saw you, my heart was no longer my own. Your laugh is like music, your smile brighter than a thousand suns. You are my north star, my compass, my everything. Without you, I would be a ship lost at sea, a bird without wings, a—"

"Kenny!" Dawn hissed, her face burning. "Skip it!"

Kenny held up his hands. "I didn’t write this, remember?!"

Mia clapped her hands. "No skipping! Keep going!"

Kenny groaned and continued.

"I vow to always cherish you, to honor you, and to love you more than words can ever express. You are my light, my heart, and my soul. Forever and always."

There was a long pause as Kenny finished, glaring daggers at Mia, who looked entirely too pleased with herself.

"My turn!" Mia said brightly, shoving another paper into Dawn’s hands.

"Oh no, no, no, no," Dawn muttered, shaking her head.

"Read it, Aunt Dawn!" Avery said with a wicked grin. "Or I'll tell Mommy you broke her vase."

Dawn's jaw dropped. "That was you!"

"Read it!" Avery sang, waving the foam block menacingly.

Dawn groaned and reluctantly began.

"Kenny, you are my rock, my partner, my everything. Your kindness and strength inspire me every day, and I cannot imagine a life without you by my side. I vow to always support you, to laugh with you, and to love you with all my heart. You are the greatest gift in my life, and I will treasure you forever."

Dawn looked up from the paper, her face flaming red. "Mia, this is ridiculous."

Mia shrugged innocently. "It's romantic!"

"It's embarrassing!" Dawn shot back.

"Okay, okay!" Mia said, waving her hands to quiet them. "Now for the rings!"

"The what?!" Kenny and Dawn said in unison.

Mia held up two actual wedding rings. "Aunt Dawn, Uncle Kenny, please exchange these as a symbol of your eternal love!"

Dawn looked like she wanted to sink into the floor. Kenny glanced at her, muttering, "Dee Dee, what is happening right now?"

"I don’t know!" she hissed back.

Avery, growing impatient, grabbed Dawn’s hand and shoved a ring onto her finger. "There! Done!"

Kenny sighed, taking the other ring and sliding it onto Dawn’s finger with all the enthusiasm of someone forced into community service.

"And now," Mia said, her voice full of finality, "you may kiss!"

"WHAT?!" Dawn and Kenny yelled.

"No way!" Dawn protested.

"You can't make us!" Kenny added, crossing his arms.

Avery smirked. "Oh yes, I can. Mommy said if you don’t listen, no dessert for a week."

Dawn sighed, defeated. "This is blackmail."

Kenny leaned closer, muttering, "Just a quick one, Dee Dee. Let’s get it over with."

"Fine!" Dawn snapped. She leaned in and gave Kenny the briefest peck on the cheek before pulling back like he was on fire.

Mia and Avery clapped wildly. "Yay! Uncle Kenny and Aunt Dawn are married!"

Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, Drew, Brock, and May stood off to the side, still thoroughly confused.

"What just happened?" Ash whispered.

"I think we attended a wedding," Misty replied.

"But... why?" Drew asked, scratching his head.

"I think the real question is: where's the cake?" Brock added with a grin.

Kenny and Dawn exchanged a look of shared exasperation.

"Mia," Kenny said finally, "you are never allowed to plan anything ever again."

Mia just grinned. "You’re welcome, Uncle Kenny!"
