🐧 shipping wedding

Dawn groaned as she adjusted the veil on her head, looking down at the pale blue gown she’d been forced into. "This is absurd," she muttered, glaring at Kenny, who looked equally uncomfortable in his pale green vest and white starched shirt.

"I’m with you on that one," Kenny replied, tugging at the collar of his shirt. "Why does this vest feel like it’s choking me? And what’s with all this wedding talk?"

Before either could say more, Mia stepped into the makeshift "wedding area" in the living room. She was holding a clipboard, her expression one of pure determination. Behind her, Avery skipped along, humming to herself and throwing flower petals in random directions.

Mia cleared her throat loudly. "Attention, everyone!" she declared. "The wedding is about to begin! Aunt Dawn, Uncle Kenny, stand here!"

"Do we have to—" Kenny began but was quickly silenced by a death glare from Mia.

Dawn sighed, stepping onto the spot Mia pointed to, with Kenny reluctantly following. Around them, Ash, Misty, Brock, Drew, and May sat on chairs that had been hastily lined up to form an aisle. Everyone looked equally confused, except for Avery, who seemed to be having the time of her life scattering petals.

"This is ridiculous," Dawn whispered to Kenny as she tried to keep her gown from dragging.

"Tell me about it," Kenny whispered back, his eyes darting nervously to Mia, who was now flipping through her clipboard with an air of authority.

Mia stepped forward. "Okay, let’s begin! Uncle Kenny, please read your vows first!"

Kenny’s face turned red. "My what?"

"Your vows!" Mia chirped, handing him a piece of paper. "I wrote them for you! Now, read it out loud like you mean it."

Kenny looked at the paper and blanched. "I am not reading this," he hissed.

"Yes, you are," Mia said sweetly, but her eyes glinted with mischief.

Kenny sighed in defeat and began reading in a monotone voice. "Dawn... you are the light of my life. Every time I see your smile, the world feels brighter. Your laugh is like a melody that plays in my heart, and—"

"Stop reading it like a robot!" Mia snapped. "Put some feeling into it!"

Kenny groaned but forced himself to read with more enthusiasm. "Dawn, you are the light of my life. Every time I see your smile, the world feels brighter. Your laugh is like a melody that plays in my heart, and your kindness is the glue that holds everything together."

Dawn’s face was beet red. "Mia, what is this?!"

"Shh, it’s romantic!" Mia waved her off. "Now, Aunt Dawn, your turn!"

Dawn reluctantly took the second piece of paper Mia handed her. She scanned it and immediately wanted to crawl under a rock. "Mia wrote these too?"

"Yep! Read it out loud!" Mia clapped her hands in excitement.

Dawn sighed and began. "Kenny, you are my anchor in life’s storm. You bring out the best in me, even when I don’t see it myself. Your bravery inspires me, and your humor keeps me grounded. I can’t imagine a world without you by my side."

Kenny coughed awkwardly, his face just as red as Dawn’s. "Uh… this is really over the top."

"Quiet! You’re ruining the mood!" Mia scolded.

"Ruining the mood?" Kenny muttered under his breath, but a sharp glare from Mia shut him up.

Mia raised her hands dramatically. "Now, Uncle Kenny and Aunt Dawn, it’s time for the rings!"

"Rings?" Dawn and Kenny echoed in unison.

Avery ran forward with a small pillow, on which two very real wedding bands were resting. "Here ya go!"

"Where did you even get those?" Kenny asked in horror.

"Avery!" Mia scolded. "Don’t ruin the moment!"

Avery giggled and handed the rings to the "bride and groom."

"Now, exchange rings and say, ‘I do!’" Mia instructed.

"This has gone too far," Dawn hissed.

"You think?" Kenny whispered back, slipping the ring onto Dawn’s finger under Mia’s watchful gaze. Dawn did the same, glaring daggers at Mia the entire time.

"Okay!" Mia announced, bouncing in place. "Now, Uncle Kenny, you may kiss Aunt Dawn!"

"What?!" Dawn and Kenny exclaimed simultaneously.

"No way!" Dawn protested.

"Absolutely not!" Kenny agreed.

But before either could argue further, Avery piped up, "You hafta! It’s in the ruwes!"

"Rules?" Kenny sputtered.

"Yeah! Aunt Dawn, you said when you pway pretend, you do it all the way!" Avery grinned.

Dawn groaned, covering her face. "I really need to stop saying things around you."

With everyone staring at them—especially Mia and Avery with their expectant faces—Kenny and Dawn leaned toward each other awkwardly, both muttering complaints under their breath.

"Just get it over with," Kenny whispered.

"Fine," Dawn grumbled.

The "kiss" was barely a brush of their cheeks, but Mia and Avery erupted into cheers.

"Yay! Now you’re weally married!" Mia declared, clapping her hands.

Ash leaned over to Misty. "So, uh… do we clap too or…?"

"Just go with it," Misty sighed.

The "newlyweds" turned to face their "guests," their faces a mix of exhaustion and embarrassment.

Kenny muttered to Dawn, "This has been the weirdest day of my life."

"You and me both," Dawn replied, glaring at Mia, who was already planning what she called the "honeymoon."
