🐧 shipping wedding

Dawn and Kenny stood in shock as they looked at the "wedding" setup Mia had orchestrated in the backyard. Chairs were lined up neatly, with Ash, Misty, Brock, May, and Drew seated and exchanging baffled looks. A makeshift altar stood at the far end, adorned with flowers that looked suspiciously like they’d been plucked from Professor Oak’s garden.

Dawn crossed her arms. “Mia, what is this?”

Mia adjusted the clipboard she was holding, her ten-year-old demeanor all business. “It’s your wedding, Aunt Dawn. You and Uncle Kenny are always together, so it’s about time someone made it official.”

Kenny groaned. “We’re not even—”

“Shh!” Mia hissed, glaring at him. “No arguments. You’re wasting time. Avery, bring the rings!”

The four-year-old bounced forward, holding a cushion with two sparkling rings perched on top. Dawn gasped. “Wait, where did you get those?”

Mia waved dismissively. “Etsy. Now, let’s start the vows.”

“What vows?!” Kenny exclaimed, panic clear in his voice.

Mia held up two pieces of paper and thrust one into his hands. “You already wrote them.”

Dawn snatched hers. “I definitely didn’t write anything.”

“I wrote them for you,” Mia said smugly. “I know what you’d say because I’m very perceptive.”

Dawn skimmed the paper, her face turning beet red. “Mia! This is—this is way too—ugh!” She flapped the paper like it was on fire.

Kenny glanced at his vows and groaned. “This is like a love letter! I can’t read this out loud.”

“You will if you love me,” Avery said, her big eyes welling up with crocodile tears.

“Not fair!” Kenny cried. “That’s cheating!”

“Go on!” Mia clapped her hands, ignoring his protests. “Kenny, you’re first.”

He stood there awkwardly, the paper shaking in his hands. Dawn gave him a death glare that said, If you read this, I’ll kill you.

But Mia and Avery both glared harder. Kenny cleared his throat, resigning himself to his fate.

“Dawn,” he began, his voice trembling. “From the moment I met you, my life has been brighter.” He cringed. “Your laugh is like a melody that makes the world seem... a little more magical.”

Dawn facepalmed, groaning audibly, while the audience stifled giggles. Kenny soldiered on, his face red as a tomato. “I admire your strength, your kindness, and—” He paused, grimacing at the words. “—your beauty.”

“Oh my Arceus,” Dawn muttered under her breath, glaring daggers at Mia.

Mia nodded approvingly. “Keep going.”

Kenny sighed. “I promise to always be there for you, even when you’re being stubborn. I promise to cheer you on in all your dreams and, uh, be the best partner you could ever ask for.”

“That was beautiful!” Mia said, dabbing at imaginary tears. “Your turn, Aunt Dawn.”

Dawn stood frozen, clutching her vows. “No way. Not doing it.”

“Aunt Dawn,” Avery said in a singsong voice. “You don’t love Uncle Kenny?”

“Of course I don’t—I mean, I do—but not—ugh!” Dawn growled. Reluctantly, she started. “Kenny...”

Kenny looked at her, his eyes wide with horror, as if begging her not to continue. She ignored him. “You’ve always been there for me, even when I didn’t deserve it. You’re loyal, supportive, and annoyingly charming.”

Kenny blinked, shocked. “Uh, thanks?”

She gritted her teeth. “I... I promise to keep arguing with you about everything and always remind you how much better I am at battling.”

The audience chuckled.

“And,” she added begrudgingly, “I guess I’ll always have your back, no matter how annoying you are.”

Mia clapped enthusiastically. “That was perfect! Now, for the kiss!”

“What?!” Kenny and Dawn shouted in unison.

“You can’t get married without a kiss!” Avery chirped.

Dawn and Kenny exchanged mortified glances. “No. Way,” Dawn said firmly.

Mia crossed her arms. “Then I guess you’re not real adults.”

“Excuse me?!” Dawn hissed, her face flushing with embarrassment.

“It’s just a kiss,” Avery said, tilting her head innocently. “Come on, Uncle Kenny. You can do it!”

With everyone staring, Kenny leaned toward Dawn awkwardly. She leaned back, looking ready to bolt.

“This is the worst day of my life,” she muttered through gritted teeth.

“Likewise,” Kenny muttered back.

Finally, they leaned forward and gave the quickest, most awkward peck on the lips imaginable.

“YAY!” Mia and Avery cheered, clapping wildly.

“That’s it. We’re never babysitting again,” Dawn growled, shooting daggers at Kenny.

“Agreed,” he said, pulling at his collar.

Meanwhile, Ash whispered to Misty, “Should we tell them this doesn’t count as a real wedding?”

Misty smirked. “Let’s not ruin Mia’s fun.”

The ceremony ended in chaos, with Brock snapping pictures, May swooning over the “romance,” and Drew laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Kenny and Dawn spent the rest of the day sulking, glaring at Mia, and plotting their revenge.
