Playing the performance encore!
Dawn felt her head, and let out a scream.
" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
She collapsed to the ground, the memories flooding back to her head. It was too much... Too much....
" DAWN!*
Everyone turned to see the Auburn haired boy wearing Prince clothes, cupping his mouth. " Dawn, you can do it! You just need to think! Who cares if your hair looks like.... One of the things the ' Dee' stands for? The other ' Dee' is right on target. Diamond. So stand up, brush yourself, and do what you do best!"
A cheer went up for Dawn, and she blinked.
Then she smiled at the boy, blushing , who blushed slightly back.
Dawn wiped her tears away, though her hands still trembled as she looked up at the auburn-haired boy. The echoes of his voice—strong, encouraging, and unwavering—cut through the chaos in her mind. She took a deep breath, the cheers around her slowly filling the cracks in her confidence.
"You really think I can do this, Kenny?" Dawn asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kenny stepped closer, his princely outfit rustling as he crouched down to meet her at eye level. "Of course, I do. You’re Dawn Hikari, the girl who can shine brighter than anyone. You’ve just got to believe in yourself as much as I believe in you."
Dawn blushed again, his words both embarrassing and uplifting her. "But... my hair, Kenny. Look at it! It’s a disaster!"
Kenny chuckled, reaching out to gently flick a stray lock of her messy blue hair. "It’s just hair, Dee. You’re more than that. You’re talent, determination, and—" He hesitated for a moment, then added with a small grin, "—an absolute diva when you need to be. And you know what? That’s what makes you unforgettable."
Dawn couldn’t help but laugh, a small, genuine sound that bubbled up despite her earlier despair. The crowd around them cheered louder, sensing her spirits lifting, and a few even started chanting her name.
"See?" Kenny said, gesturing to the crowd. "They know it, too. Now, are you going to let a bad hair day stop you, or are you going to get up and remind everyone why you’re the diamond of the stage?"
Dawn looked at him, her heart swelling with a mix of gratitude and something she couldn’t quite name. Kenny’s unwavering support had always been there, but in moments like this, it felt like it was the only thing holding her together.
She took another deep breath, pushing herself off the ground with determination. "Okay, okay, I’ll do it. But only because you’re right. I am Dawn Hikari, and I’m not letting anything—especially my hair—get in the way of my dreams!"
Kenny stood as well, smiling proudly as he brushed off her shoulders. "That’s my Dee."
As Dawn turned to head back to the stage, she hesitated, glancing back at Kenny. "Thank you, Kenny. For always believing in me."
He gave her a wink, his cheeks slightly pink. "What else are best friends—and princes—for?"
Dawn nodded, her confidence returning as she walked toward the stage. The cheers of the crowd grew louder, and she felt a renewed energy coursing through her veins. She was ready to prove to everyone—and herself—that she was more than just appearances.
From the sidelines, Kenny watched her go, his heart swelling with pride and something he wasn’t quite ready to admit yet. "Go get ’em, Dawn," he murmured, his smile widening as she took her place under the spotlight.
