" Hey Dawn! What's up?"
Dawg groaned. " Kenny, I need help with my nieces."
" Okay, I'm coming!"
" Wait, you're not gonna tease me?*
Kenny grinned. " I'll tease you in front of the kids."
Dawn groaned.
When Kenny stepped into the house, he ducked as a block soared through the sky
" Avery! Stop that!" Dres scolded, then waved at her boy. " Hi Kenny!"
" Wook, Mia!" Avery yelled, pointing at Drew. " It's Aunt Dawn's husband!"
Kenny blinked, and Drew choked on her breath. " What?!"
Averh gave an innocent smile. " Yeah! Mommy say when two people wike eat oder, dey mawy!"
" Did they say that?" Dawn's asked with a dark expression . " Your mom is in big trouble."
Mia, Avery's ten year old sister, looked up from her tablet. " Hmmmm...." She said, surveying Kenny and Daen. " No, this will not do."
Dawn blinked. " What will not do?"
Mia ignored. " Aunt Dawn, go into that bathroom._ she said, pointing to one. " And uncle Kenny, the other."
" But wh-"
Avery shot Dawn a look, and a sweatdrop appeared on her head. " Okay okay...."
When they came out, they blinked and stared at one another.
Dawn was wearing a pale blue gown with a pink veil. Kenny was wearing a white starched shirt with a pale green vest
" Uh.... You look nice?" Kennt offered.
Dawn gave him a look " you don't look half bad yourself."
" Hey!" He exclaimed. But before he could say another word, Mia came in.
" Ah, good. You two are ready. Come on, the guests are waiting."
" What are the guests for?* Dawn asked.
" Your wedding."
" OUR WEDDING?!" they yelled.
But before they could say anything else, Lily had already thrown them out.
When Dawn stood, the first thing she saw was Ash, Misty, Brock, and May confused and dressed in fancy attire.
" Uh..... Who's the wedding for?" Misty asked, confused.
Dawn and Kenny exchanged nervous glances as Mia tugged them toward the makeshift altar in the backyard. Chairs had been lined up in uneven rows, adorned with paper flowers and ribbons that screamed "last-minute child project." On one side, the "guests" — Ash, Misty, Brock, May, and even Pikachu — sat, their faces painted with confusion.
Mia stood at the front, holding a notebook with the authority of a seasoned officiant. Avery was at her side, throwing what looked like cereal as makeshift flower petals.
"Okay!" Mia clapped her hands, her ten-year-old voice loud and commanding. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the love between Aunt Dawn and Uncle Kenny."
Dawn groaned. "Mia, this is ridiculous—"
"Quiet, bride!" Mia snapped, her stern expression making Dawn swallow her protests.
Kenny shot Dawn a look of pure disbelief. "Why am I even here right now?"
"Because you love each other!" Avery piped up, throwing another handful of cereal at their feet.
"Now," Mia continued, flipping a page in her notebook, "it's time for the vows. Uncle Kenny, you're up first."
"I don't have vows—"
"Yes, you do!" Mia interrupted, holding up a sheet of paper. "I wrote them for you. Read this!" She shoved it into his hands.
Kenny scanned the paper, his face going pale. "Mia, this is—this is insane! I can't say this!"
Mia crossed her arms. "You will say it, or else I'll tell Grandma you broke her vase last Christmas."
Dawn gasped. "That was YOU?!"
"Not the time!" Kenny hissed. With a defeated sigh, he stepped forward and read the vows aloud, his face burning brighter than a Charizard’s flame.
"Dawn, from the moment I met you, your smile has been like the sunrise that lights up my day. Your laugh is the melody that makes life worth living. You are my partner, my best friend, and my greatest adventure. I vow to cherish you, to stand by you, and to love you more with each passing day."
Ash and Brock exchanged glances, trying to suppress their laughter. Misty and May looked uncomfortably invested.
Dawn stood frozen, her cheeks flaming. "MIA!" she screeched.
"Your turn, Aunt Dawn," Mia said sweetly, holding out another paper.
Dawn snatched it, her eyes scanning the overly sentimental words. She opened her mouth to protest, but Mia's glare silenced her. With a resigned groan, she read:
"Kenny, you are the calm in my storm, the reason I smile when the world feels heavy. Your kindness and strength inspire me every day. I promise to be by your side, to support you, and to laugh with you for all the days of my life. You are my everything."
Avery clapped enthusiastically. "That was so pwetty!"
Kenny buried his face in his hands. "This can’t get any worse."
"Oh, it can," Mia said smugly. "Rings, please!"
Avery proudly produced two shiny rings from her pocket. "Real ones! Mommy helped me order them!"
Dawn and Kenny’s jaws dropped.
"Wait, what—actual wedding rings?" Dawn stammered.
"Yep! Now exchange them," Mia instructed, her grin devilish.
With exaggerated reluctance, Kenny slid the ring onto Dawn’s finger. "This is ridiculous," he muttered.
"You think I like this?" Dawn whispered back, slipping the other ring onto Kenny’s hand.
"Now," Mia said, beaming with triumph, "you may kiss!"
"NO!" Dawn and Kenny shouted in unison.
Avery pouted. "But you HAVE to! It's not a wedding without a kiss!"
"Mia, this has gone far enough—" Kenny began, but Avery’s big teary eyes silenced him.
"Just do it!" Mia urged.
With agonizing slowness, Kenny leaned toward Dawn, who had her eyes squeezed shut. Their lips barely brushed before they both sprang apart like they’d been shocked by a Jolteon.
"Happy now?" Dawn snapped.
"Very!" Mia said, clapping her hands. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny!"
"WE ARE NOT MARRIED!" they yelled.
But their protests were drowned out by Avery’s celebratory cereal confetti and the guests’ hesitant applause. Chaos ensued as Dawn chased Mia around the backyard, Kenny tried to get the ring off his finger, and Brock muttered, "This might be the weirdest thing I’ve ever witnessed."
And for the rest of the day, no one dared to let Kenny or Dawn live it down.
