The pairing between Gold and Kris, MangaQuestshipping, is quite a popular ship for the Pokémon Adventures/Special manga, it and Preciousmetalshipping are both adored by fans of the Johto saga. Gold, is a extreme casanova towards girl trainers, often flirting and teasing with them, so it is difficult to see if Gold actually has a crush on Kris since Gold is just like that to other girls. But, he does show to care about lot about her though, and he knows when to give girls their space. Anyways, Gold, isn't a complete flirt, he sees Kris as teammate and friend, not just a girl so he values her integrity. I think he did save her one time before, too, I think it was in a chapter involving Lugia (correct me if I'm wrong). Now, let's talk about Kris!! Kris, is one of those girls who doesn't fall that easy for flirtatious guys (Like Gold) and often is the one to make it clear that she isn't into his teasing. Kris is prim and proper, caring about her career as a trainer and filling the Pokédex, Regardless though, Kris does care about Gold and appreciates what he does for her. Actually, she has shown to care about her appearance towards Gold. In one chapter of the HGSS saga she is self conscious about her outfit and what Gold might think about, getting flustered about it too. (Pic above!!)
I like this ship, it certainly is very cute, it has "Opposites attract" written all over it (Gold being the wild/ambitious and Kris being proper/preppy). Plus, Gold does have a special way to charm girls, even if they're hard to get.
