The gang are in the dining hall, eating breakfast. Their breakfast contains fried potatoes, eggs, toast, jam, and a jug of juice. Unfortunately, Jake ate half of the entire breakfast, leaving the other half for Drayko, Dahlia, and Violet to split.

Violet clearly looked agitated when Jake attempted to grab a handful of potatoes with his large scaly hands. "Jeez, you're worse than a Munchlax! Save the rest of the food for us!".

Drayko put some of everything on his plate and takes a bite out of the toast. "I wonder how we're gonna do this. The gym battle I mean".

"No idea, Drayko. I'm starving", Violet said as she put a forkful of eggs in her mouth.

Dahlia is seen with her egg incubator. "Wow, I think the egg is close to hatching!".

Violet spits out her food and scooted away from the table. "WHAT?!"

"Violet, not now...". Drayko sighed and looked down.

"We don't need to travel near that thing. All it's gonna do to us is cause more trouble. Once we're near Mediokris City, you're on your own".

"Well...if you think I should be..."

"You 2 go ahead and argue about the egg. I'm going out by myself and figure out what to do...". Drayko walks out the door while the others argue.

=30 minutes later=

Drayko walks back to the Pokémon center and find his companions in the lobby, hanging around. Violet has one of her magazines as usual, Jake is laying on the floor, and Dahlia is polishing the incubator.

"I got it!"

"Got what?", Jake asked.

"The perfect plan". Drayko tosses his pokeball and lets out a Pokémon. It looked like a stack of hay with its shiny metal face seen in front. The Pokémon has sharp spikes sticking out its body.

"A Hayprick! Nice!", said Jake. Drayko scanned the Hayprick with the Pokédex.

"Hayprick: the haystack Pokémon. A grass and steel type. It fuses and hardens hay onto its body to act as camouflage and protection. Hayprick that live near farms usually do not survive long".

"I caught it while you were having your little argument. Hayprick was just wandering in some bushes. A grass and steel type would be perfect since they aren't affected badly by electric type moves".

"Awesome. I think you're ready!", Dahlia said.

=20 minutes later=

The gang walk to a building that is connected to several others on the same block. This building, however, was taller and wider than the others. Above the door was a light arch that glowed a bright yellow. A sign read "Electrica City Gym: the habitat of Little Lightning!".

"This is it guys". Drayko walked up and the metal automatic doors open, and the gang is greeted by Bonnie.

"I know what you're here for", Bonnie said and blows back one of her strands of hair. Drayko nods. "Well, follow me then!".

Bonnie walks to the battlefield. The field itself was a standard dirt field, but it had many metal plates scattered about. They looked connected to the floor. Beams of yellow light fill the corners of the room and creates a frame around the large room.

"Welcome...to the Electrica City gym! Anyone who isn't battling can sit at those benches over there". Bonnie points to the benches and Dahlia, Violet, and Jake sit down.

"You can do it!", Dahlia said to Drayko.

A referee comes to the battlefield and the 2 opponents get into their positions of the battlefield.

"The battle between Bonnie of the Electrica City gym is about to begin. Each opponent will choose 3 Pokémon at their disposal. Furthermore, the plates that are seen scatted about the battlefield will give off a static field that will increase the chance of the challenger's Pokémon to become paralyzed via electrical attacks. Without further ado, let the battle begin!". The referee then activates a switch on the wall, which activates the plates.

"I don't know about you, but I'll choose my prized little Voltorb!". Bonnie sends out a Voltorb that sparks in rage. Drayko scans it with the Pokédex.

"Voltorb: the ball Pokémon. An electric type. Voltorb was first sighted not too long after modern pokeballs were first introduced. This Pokémon's infamous ability is exploding without warning".

"Hayprick, I choose you!", Drayko said boldly and throws Hayprick's pokeball, sending it out.

"Voltorb, use electro ball!". Voltorb charged up the sparking ball of electricity and flings it at the foe.

"Hayprick, protect!". Hayprick was not affected. "Now use pin missile!". The spikes are hurled at Voltorb, causing it to take damage.

"Voltorb, use rollout!". The ball Pokémon rolls at great speed.

"Hayprick, dodge it and use vine whip to trip it!". When Voltorb was still rolling, Hayprick extended one of its vines and tripped the still rolling Voltorb, causing it to go off guard. "Now's our chance. Use tackle!".

"Use spark!". Right before Hayprick charges up, it is stricken by the spark attack caused by Voltorb. The haystack Pokémon begins to act strangely. It has trouble moving.

"Hayprick, return! Parasweet, I choose you!". Parasweet is sent out. "Now use disarming voice!".

The screeching voice hits Voltorb before it could make a move, causing it to faint.

"Voltorb is unable to battle. Parasweet is the winner!".

"Voltorb, return", Bonnie said and sends back Voltorb. "I gotta say; that was pretty impressive. I loved how you took that risk of using a flying type Pokémon against an electric type. Will you switch out Pokémon?".

"I think Parasweet is fine for now".

"Suit yourself. Rise and shine, Dedenne!". The mouse Pokémon is sent out. Drayko scans Dedenne with the Pokédex.

"Dedenne: the antenna Pokémon. An electric and fairy type. Dedenne uses its whiskers as antennas. This Pokémon can communicate with others of its species by sending and receiving electrical waves from one another. A power plant was once shut down because multiple Dedenne absorbed all the electricity from the power grid".

"Dedenne was my first partner I had in Kalos. He stuck by my side for years, and we trained together. He will go all out to win!".

"Alright, Parasweet. Use gust!"

"Use thunder shock!"

Parasweet is stricken by the lightning, but tries to stay up to keep up the fight.

"Great work. Now use charm"

Dedenne looks into Parasweet's eyes and sighs cutely.

"Don't let that face fool you, Parasweet. Use wing attack!"

Parasweet swoops down and Dedenne is hit by the powerful wing, causing him to fall over.

"Quick, do it again!"

Dedenne is hit once more, and gives a squeak of pain. The antenna Pokémon faints.

"Dedenne, no!". Bonnie looks at her fainted partner that she knew for a long time, and looks genuinely sad.

"Dedenne is unable to battle. Parasweet wins!".

Bonnie looks at Dedenne and cries. The Pokémon is sent back to his pokeball. The girl takes out her last Pokémon.

"Win for me, Rasho...", Bonnie mumbled. "win for me!". Bonnie throws the pokeball to the battlefield with great force, sending out her last Pokémon: Rasho. Before Drayko could command Parasweet, Bonnie was the one who took action first.

"Use quick attack!". Rasho ran at Parasweet and rammed itself into the parakeet Pokémon. The overall force caused the already weakened Parasweet to faint.

"Whoa!", exclaimed Jake.

"That poor Parasweet. I hope Drayko wins this match", Dahlia said and looks down at her egg incubator. The incubator wiggles a little, frightening Violet.

"It's coming!".

"The birth of the enemy is about to commence!".

Meanwhile, Drayko sends back Parasweet and sends out Whalruph.

"A water type, huh? Let's see what you got!"

"Use water pulse!".

"Use thunder punch!"

The pulse of water is obliterated by Rasho's fist of lightning. Whalruph gets punched and shocked.

"Use water gun to push Rasho away!"

Whalruph fires its water gun to move Rasho away.

"Now use karate chop!".

Rasho, wiping the water out it's eyes, is greeted by Whalruph's karate chop directly onto its shoulder.

"Great work, Whalruph. Now use tackle!"

"Oh no you're not! Use double team!"

Rasho moves extremely quickly and creates copies of itself, surrounding the bash Pokémon. Whalruph looks around confused. It uses tackle on 3 of the Rasho figures, but it turns out that they are mere decoys of the real one.

"Thunder punch!"

Whalruph feels a hard punch in its back. It freezes for a moment, and then faints. Bonnie smiles and claps sarcastically.

"Whalruph is unable to battle. Rasho is the winner! Challenger Drayko, will you send out another Pokémon?".

Drayko grips Hayprick's pokeball tightly, and throws it boldly. Hayprick is still having a hard time moving from its paralysis.

"Ha!", Bonnie laughed. "Good luck battling with that!".

"Why thank you", Drayko said sarcastically. "Hayprick, use pin missile!". Hayprick shakes while moving, but manages to fire the sharp spikes. Rasho dodges them all...or so it thinks. Rasho is then hit in the stomach by the fast moving pin. Bonnie looks very surprised.

"Uh oh. That was...shocking! Use thunder punch!"

Rasho throws a punch at the haystack Pokémon. Rasho feels pain from the punch because unbeknownst to anyone else, Hayprick has several small spikes.

"Use vine whip!"

Rasho is restrained by the tightening vines.

"What are you doing?! Try to break free!"

"Pin missile, please", Drayko said calmly.

Hayprick shoots the pin missile right at Rasho. The speedy Pokémon faints in Hayprick's vines.

"Rasho is unable to battle. Hayprick wins. Therefore, Drayko is the victor of the match!"

As Drayko's friends cheer for him, Bonnie sits on the ground and hugs her knees near her chest. Drayko goes up to her and puts his hand on her shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

Bonnie shrugs the hand off her shoulder. "Don't touch me! It's just...I haven't lost for a long time...".

"Everyone loses somehow. It's how everyone gets better. You know, I lost my first gym battle".

Bonnie looks up at Drayko and smiles. The girl stands back up and takes out a small box out her pocket. The box is black with a lightning bolt design on it.

"Open it", said Bonnie.

Drayko opened the box and sees something that resembles a shiny yellow cloud with bolts of lightning coming from it.

"You have earned the Zap Badge. If you want your 5th badge, you should go to Mediokris City. Take route 5 to get there".

Jake runs to Drayko and gives him a high five. "Nicely done!"

"You did beautiful", said Dahlia.

"Not bad, Drayko. Not bad", Violet said.

The gang walks out of the gym. Suddenly, the egg incubator wiggles more.

"Oh?". Dahlia looks down at the incubator and opens it up. The egg wiggles and a red pointy object pokes out the egg. "It's hatching!".

Violet backed away. "Oh no...".

The egg cracked more. Something pink is seen inside.

"The enemy emerges!"

Finally, the egg shatters into many pieces, showing the baby Pokémon. The Pokémon looked like it was wearing a fuzzy navy blue robe. At the center of the robe was a cyan colored circular object with a spiral design. The Pokémon's head was round and pink with 2 beady eyes, light pink rosy cheeks, and a tiny mouth. Drayko scanned it with the Pokédex.

"Nomey: the magic Pokémon. A fairy type..."
