Drayko, Jake, Violet, and her mother walk out of the house and towards the gym building. "Since, I'm your friend, I'll give you some advice. Dark type Pokémon are effective against ghost and psychic. Like all types, they have weaknesses. Dark type Pokémon are weak against bug, fighting, and worst of all...fairy types", Violet said to Drayko, shuddering when she mentioned fairy types.

Drayko checks his Pokédex. "It says here that when Orqua evolved into Whalruph, it became a water and fighting type. It also learned karate chop which is a fighting type move. With Whalruph and Parasweet, we are sure to win!". "Don't get too confident. We haven't even battled yet. You're starting to remind me about this over confident trainer from Kanto. I believe he's currently in Alola according to a few rumors I've heard", Violet said.

=5 minutes later=

Everyone arrived at the outside of the gym. "This place is huge!", Drayko said in amazement as he looked up. The building resembled a large gothic style cathedral, and, like the rest of Tenebris City's architecture, it was very dark colored. The circular window in front of the gym had a mosaic of the dark type symbol. "Shall we go in?", Violet's mother said with a smile. Everyone walks through the tall black doors, and into the gym.

The inside looks even bigger than the outside. The gym stretched very far, having several dark colored mosaics of dark type Pokémon consisting of Honchkrow, Houndoom, Bisharp, Hydreigon, Malamar, Mandibuzz, Absol, and Liepard. There was a round window at the end of the gym. It had a mosaic of Darkrai. There were several chandeliers hanging low from the very high ceiling as a light source. The ceiling was not lit by the chandeliers, and due to the lack of windows up top, it was if you were looking at a void. Finally, the battlefield's ground was dirt that was dyed pitch black.

"This is amazing...but creepy!", Jake said. Violet mother goes into a room and comes out with a pokeball. "There's a certain someone who's been missing you while you were gone!", Violet's mother said and hands the pokeball to her daughter. "Ah, my dark little princess! I missed you, Siniblood!". Violet threw her pokeball up high in the air, sending out a sinister looking Pokémon. It resembled a mosquito with a dark black body, gray wings, and a long proboscis. The tips of its 6 limbs were dark green. The eyes matched the tips of the limbs. "I've never seen a Pokémon like that before! It looks terrifying!". Drayko scanned Siniblood with the Pokédex.

"Siniblood: the mosquito Pokémon, and the evolved form of Sinigrub. A bug and dark type. It's diet consists of blood. One can drink up to 5 gallons of blood before getting full, leaving their prey flat as a pancake. Siniblood along with its evolutions are a female only species with no male counterpart".

"I shouldn't be surprised at this point. I do have to admit, that Pokémon is the scariest one I've seen in Coex", Drayko said. "Siniblood is pretty strong for a bug type, so I hope you got a strategy!". Violet pets Siniblood happily. However, it began sucking up Violet's blood, leaving her flat as a pancake as said in the Pokédex within seconds. Violet collapses, but surprisingly still alive. "I-Its nice to have a snack before a battle. G-Good work, my princess...". Drayko and Jake look at Violet nervously.

Violet soon recovers and gets back on her feet. I'm all right and ready to go! Mother, will you be the referee for the battle?". "Certainly, dear". Drayko and Violet stand on opposite sides of the battlefield while Jake sat in the observation area alone. "Looks like I'll sit here...alone...without anybody", Jake said gloomily. Scalaby comes out of its pokeball on its own and sits in Jake's lap. "Never mind then. Good luck, Drayko!"

"The battle between Violet of the Tenebris City gym and challenger Drayko is about to commence! Each opponent will choose only 2 Pokémon at their disposal. Without further ado, let the battle begin!".

"I've been waiting for this time to come. The time to see how strong you really are! Let's rock, Siniblood!". Siniblood is sent out to the battlefield. "I figured you'd choose her. I choose Parasweet!". Parasweet is sent out.

"I knew it...I'll allow you to go first", Violet said. "Parasweet use gust!". Parasweet blows a huge current of air at Siniblood, causing her to blow away. "Use leech life!", Violet yelled. Siniblood dug it's proboscis into Parasweet and begins draining its life energy. "Parasweet, no! Use disarming voice!". Parasweet let out its cry, affecting Siniblood severely due to her type disadvantage. "Hang in there, my princess. Use bug bite!". "Counter with peck!". The 2 Pokémon charged at each other. Parasweet's strong beak overpowered Siniblood's jaws and she takes a direct hit. "You're good, but not good enough. Use poison sting!". Siniblood injects Parasweet with a toxin with her proboscis, poisoning it. Due to Parasweet's fairy typing, it was super affective. Parasweet falls to the ground, barely standing. "You're in bad shape. Return". Drayko sent back Parasweet.

Violet smirks and puts her hands on her hips. "Give up?". "Never. I've still got Whalruph!". Drayko sent out Whalruph. "Use water gun!". Whalruph fires its water gun, missing. "Hah! Use leech life!". Siniblood began to charge at Whalruph. Drayko was focused on Siniblood getting closer. "Wait for it...", Drayko said to himself. Siniblood got close enough to Whalruph. "Now use karate chop!", Drayko said seconds before Siniblood stabbed Whaleruph with her proboscis. Whalruph powered up its hand and chopped Siniblood directly on the head. Siniblood fluttered there, remaining motionless before collapsing onto the ground, fainting. "M-My princess...", Violet said in awe, crying lightly.

"Siniblood is unable to battle. Whalruph is the winner!", Violet's mother exclaimed. "Return, princess. You were amazing". Violet looks up at Drayko and smiles, putting away Siniblood's pokeball and taking out a new one. "You definitely remembered this one:". Violet sends out Weavile. Drayko nods.

"Use tackle!". Whalruph charges at Weavile, but dodges the attack. "Use icy wind!", Violet commanded. The tiny ice shards where hurled at Whalruph repeatedly under the control of Weavile. "Stay strong, Whalruph! Use water gun!". Whalruph fires the water gun and hits Weavile, stopping the icy wind. "Use karate chop!". "Counter with fury swipes!". Weavile's sharp claws overpowered the karate chop, giving Weavile a chance to scratch Whalruph 3 times and gets pushed to the other side of the battlefield. "You can do it, Whalruph!". Drayko gets reminded of what his Pokémon did to Siniblood. "Of course...yeah, I'll do that", Drayko thought to himself. "Are you just gonna stand there? Come one, use an attack!", Jake told Drayko. Drayko looked at him and nods, and then looks back at the battlefield. "We're wasting time here. Use fury swipes!". Weavile runs at Whalruph, ready to strike. "Now use karate chop!". Whalruph takes a strike at Weavile, chopping its chest area firmly. Weavile finally falls to the floor, fainted.

"Weavile is unable to battle. Whalruph is the winner, therefore, Drayko is the victor of the battle!".

"You...you won...oh...". Violet looks at the fainted Weavile and runs towards it, crying. "Weavile, are you okay?". Weavile faintly opens its eyes and looks up at its trainer, giving a groan. "I'm so proud of you. You didn't give up and you gave it all you got. Take a nice rest". Violet sends Weavile into its pokeball and stands up. Violet's mother walks up to her daughter and puts a hand on her shoulder. "You should be proud of yourself as well. You were just like Weavile: never gave up in the battle and gave it all you got". Violet and her mother hugged happily. "Thank you mother".

Violet's mother gives Violet a small badge tray, having the gym badge in the middle. It resembles a shining black bone. "You've earned the Merciless badge. Take it. It's yours now", Violet said. Drayko took the badge and held it up in the air, smiling. "Thank you for battling me. It was fun", Drayko said with a smile.

=2 hours later=

Drayko's and Violet's Pokémon are healed up and they, Jake, and Violet's mother are outside the gym. "You've done great, Drayko. Violet, you don't have to worry. I can watch the gym while you travel with your friends", Violet's mother said. Siniblood flutters out the door, going to her trainer's side. "Seems like Siniblood wants to travel along with you", Violet's mother said with a chuckle. Violet smiled at her Pokémon. "I'd love to have her with me. Let's start our adventure together, my sweet princess". Violet sends Siniblood into her pokeball.

"I wish you the best of luck on your journeys. All 3 of you be safe for me", Violet's mother said before walking back into the gym, the doors slamming shut. Drayko and Jake are slightly startled by the slamming of the big tall doors. Jake looks at some pointy mountains in the distance and begins walking in that direction. Jake and Violet soon follow.

"Where are we off to?", Drayko asked Jake. "To Drako City. You're going to battle my father next". The 3 walk out of Tenebris City and onto the path of Route 3.

"I am ready", Drayko said to himself, having determination sparkle in his eyes.
