Chapter - 13

"Come on out, everyone." Red tossed out all of the Pokeballs from his belt. Pikachu came out and made a superhero landing, ready for a battle, it had been a while since he had battle against a Pokémon. His cheeks were sparking tremendous amount of electricity, he was all charged up.

Next came out Ivysaur, he jumped right into Leaf's arms, Leaf was overjoyed to see Ivysaur, she always liked the grass types, she had this connection to grass types that made them like her instantly. Pidgeotto flew out with a battle cry, he was definitely ready for a battle since his absence in Johto, Red was happy to have him back.

Espeon and Hitmonlee came out of the Pokeball, kind of confused, those two were probably enjoying the vacation inside the Pokeball. But Hitmonlee got excited, he was definitely been waiting for a challenge.

Last but not the least, Charizard came out and growled then roared into the sky. His flames were stronger than ever.

"Pretty impressive, I love that you switched your newer Pokémon with the Kanto ones, I see you want to make the older bonds stronger. I guess I could do that as well. But don't forget you still need to catch new ones, as Hoenn League rules state that-"

"I know, atleast three Pokémon in our teams should belong to the Hoenn Region. I've heard that like three times already." Red was very motivated, this time he wanted to work harder than ever to accomplish his dream, he wanted to be called a Champion again.

Leaf clipped off one of her Pokeballs and held it tightly, smiling continuously. She just wanted Red to win and she was sure that Red would be able to do it.

I believe it, I would be able to win this time. I don't care if I messed my life up, in Kanto I managed to accomplish that, I became the Indigo Champion. I know that timeline is erased, but this time, I won't mess it up - Red thought. There was a sudden spark in his eyes. The spark of determination. And I know that I will win, because this time, Leaf is with me.

"I guess you are not the only one who decided to switch Pokémon!" Leaf sent all her Pokémon at once. She had a strong smile on her face, a confident yet mischievous smile. "Go Pokémon!"

Leaf tossed out her Pokeball and all her Pokémon came out one at a time. Venusaur came out, he was as calm as ever, Red could tell he was more serious than before. When he used to be Bulbasaur, he was quite the troublemaker.

After Venusaur, came out Hitmonchan, Red remembered when Leaf and he were awarded with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan by the dojo master in Saffron City. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee started interacting and playing with each other. They were probably eager to see each other's martial art skills.

Psyduck came out third, Red gave that one to Leaf, he caught him using a fishing rod in Cerulean City. He smiled, he was glad he was with Leaf again.

Red was a bit surprised to see Leaf's new Pokémon - Poochyena. He was jealous as Leaf had managed to catch one Hoenn Pokémon, he couldn't wait to catch three Hoenn Pokémon and train them.

Another thing that Red was really happy about was being able to spend time with Leaf, and the good old memories her Pokémon brought. He was also happy about switching out his team, bringing back Pidgeotto and Hitmonlee.

"Okay, kid." Said Leaf, pointing at Red. "Fun's over."

Red was confused, what was Leaf upto? He noticed that some of their Pokémon were fighting. He knew exactly what Leaf was going to say.

"I accept your challenge." Red smiled, clenching his fists.

Leaf was full of energy. "That's what I'm talking about! Go Poochyena, let's show him what we got."

"Hey Leaf, did you even train him?" Asked Red, scratching his head. "Okay then, I choose Pidgeotto."

Poochyena and Pidgeotto stood in front of each other, classic battle style, with the rest of the Pokémon standing at the side like audience.

I am really excited for this. Last time we had a rematch, we were in Vermillion City - Red thought. I'm with her now, and I want it to remain that way, forever!

I can battle him all day and not get tired, I just want these moments with Red, while it lasts - Leaf thought. I wanna make this time with him memorable!

"You ready?" Asked Leaf, with a confident smile. "Poochyena, believe in yourself, you're powerful okay? Now! Use tackle!"

What's gotten into her? She sure motivates herself alot - Red thought.

Poochyena charged towards Pidgeotto, who was sitting right in front of him.

"Okay Pidgeotto, fly and dodge." Pidgeotto flew up high. The attack was evaded.

"Huh, nice." Leaf knew she didn't stand a chance against Red with that team.

"Use wing attack!" Pidgeotto dashed towards Poochyena and hit it with his wings. Poochyena was critically hit.

Meanwhile on Route 105, Mister Briney looked at his Wingull - Peecko, while sitting on his boat, waiting for the perfect time to fish.

He wore a blue t-shirt with his red shorts and flip flops. He was really happy as he was out alone, relaxing after a very long time.

"Tchaaa." Peecko cried.

"What is it?" Asked Mister Briney, he looked around but found nothing.

Peecko flew a hundred metres away from the boat and moved in circles just above the water. Mister Briney couldn't see anything, he turned his boat to the direction where Peecko was flying.

As the boat got closer to Peecko, he noticed a girl, floating on the water. She was unconscious.

Mister Briney pulled her into the boat and gave her CPR, there was no water in her throat or lungs. He got anxious, he quickly checked her pulse, it was fast.

"I need to get back-" He drove the boat back to the shore.

Back outside the Devon Hotel, Leaf was frustrated, she wanted to win at all costs, she had been losing alot in Sinnoh to rookies which was the reason she was pushing herself, but she also knew Red was a better trainer, he was determined, he wanted something out of Pokemon Training, while Leaf wanted to quit Pokemon Training for good, she wanted to pursue her own dreams.

"Okay, Psyduck! Use Water Pulse." Psyduck used Water Pulse, sending bursts of water simultaneously, Ivysaur was not affected by the attack since he had a type advantage. Leaf's frustration increased when she realised the type advantage of Ivysaur and that she was acting like a newbie.

"Ivysaur, use Solar Beam." Red did not break a sweat once. He was taking it casually while Leaf was not, he smiled everytime Leaf looked at him in frustration, as he thought she was cuter when frustrated. Leaf made a funny irritated face whenever she was frustrated, like at that moment, she pursed her lips and brought tension to her eyebrows. 

Ivysaur's Solar Beam was quite effective against Psyduck, the beam was so powerful that it blew Psyduck backwards into a wall. Luckily the wall did not come down. Psyduck had no energy to battle, and fainted.

"Psyduck, come back. Go-" Said Leaf, interrupted. She did not send her next Pokemon, Red and Leaf both looked around instantly.

"What are you two doing? Are you not aware that a hotel is not a place to battle against trainers?" Officer Jenny stood in front of the duo and looked angry, as if someone had stolen her Growlithe or something.

Red looked here and there and quickly hid Ivysaur behind his legs, pretending he was not even doing anything, to avoid any problems. Leaf clenched her fists, she wanted to battle Red so badly, and defeat him, it was the only way for her to reassure her own worth. 

"We're sorry , officer, we had no idea-"

"You all say that, don't you? Yesterday, I stopped two trainers from fighting and they said the exact same thing. Do you have a booking in this hotel?" Asked Officer Jenny, she looked extremely pissed for some reason, and the reason was clearly not the Pokemon Battle.

"Um, no." Leaf tried to explain but was interrupted again, she didn't liked the fact that she was interrupted twice by the same person.

"Then scoot, you have no reason to be here, go to the woods if you want to battle." Officer Jenny started to walk away, then stopped. "Anyways it's getting late, you should either book a room here or go to the Center."

"Yes, alright, we'll be going now." Red quickly held Leaf's hand and pulled her away from Officer Jenny. Leaf blushed.
