Red's POV

It was a beautiful day, the sky had no intentions of raining, the sun shone bright and it was quiet. For the past few hours, Lyra had dedicated herself to her Pokemon and nothing else. She trained and trained, the way I do, battling her Pokemon with each other m, thinking of random situations and how they should be dealing with those situations.

I had one hour, to decide what team I'd be battling with against the Psychic type trainer – Will. The guy was popular, mostly among girls.

I wasn't a big fan of the manga, but  the only information I had regarding Will was completely from the manga. He used to wear a mask, which resembled the mask of Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles.

The Elite also owned the legendary Lugia in the Adventures manga. Which I couldn't believe that guy could own in reality. He also had a Smoochum, maybe, or I might be confusing it with a Natu.

I was tired by sitting in the couch in front of the Pokecenter. It was boring, I needed a Pokemon battle desperately. In front of me, was a manual, lying on the table.

Johto Elites – read the title, I quickly opened it and started reading. The main contents were Will, Koga, Bruno and Karen. I turned to page 5, I could see everything related to the first Elite - Will, his school life, his trainer life, personal life, parents, everything was here, I looked for a page where all his Pokemon must be written but couldn't find anything related except for the fact that Will was a Psychic type trainer.

Basically, the only real way to know what Pokemon he would be using was by battling the Elite myself.

I had made up my mind that I'll be using my current team and would not be using my other Pokemon, I was a bit tempted to use Gyarados or Nidoking, but I was convinced that ny current team was capable of winning the league very easily.

"Red, Stadium One." Called the Announcer and it was my turn to battle the first elite for the Johto League. 8 months ago, I wasn't panicking when I was called for a battle, but now I was.

I walked into the stadium, noone but Lyra sat there, along with a few kindergarten students.

The stadium was unchanged since the time I last saw it. It was the very stadium I battled Lorelei.

Will walked into the stadium, I was able to tell he was Will because he wore the exact same costume he used to wear in the Adventures Manga. I was quite surprised to see what he was wearing.

He wore a black sleeveless tailcoat-like vest, with a pink tuxedo top underneath it, while the vest sports two rows of double brass buttons and a gold line between them.

His pants were pink, and I had no idea why it was so hilarious, maybe because his funny dressing sense.

"Red! I'll be using 6 Pokemon, you should already be knowing Pokemon League rules. I saw you battling Blue last year, one of the best battles I had ever seen." Said Will.

"And the rules are same as that of Kanto League?" I asked.

"More or less." He said. "Revives are allowed, I guess they weren't in Kanto League."

"Okay then." I said. "I'm ready."

Butch's POV

"You called us?" I asked, looking at Giovanni.

Giovanni slammed down the glass he was holding on the table and stood up violently.

"I have given you too many chances. Tell me where Cassidy is."

"I don't know." I said, slowly.

"Hmm." He walked to me. "You don't know? Okay then, tell me something that you do know. Because I do not think you're capable of knowing anything."

"I have a friend, in the Hoenn region." I said. "He contacted me recently to tell me that your life is in danger."

"Of course my life is in danger, I lead the world's top most criminal organization." Said Giovanni. "And police can't do anything about it."

He picked up his pistol and pointed at me. "Now, give me one reason why shouldn't I kill you."

"Because Archie and Maxie have teamed up."

Giovanni was stunned, he pulled the gun down and stared at me. "This can't be true. How do I know you're not making it up?"

"For that you must take a leap of faith." I said. "And in order to get rid of you, they are waking up two Pokemon, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about."

"They can't." Said Giovanni. "They are sealed in the depths of the Hoenn, if they find them, they'll still need the two stones to wake them."

"What if they have the stones?"

Red's POV

"Go Xatu." Will sent out his first Pokemon.

"Blastoise, I choose you!"

"Xatu, use Psychic." Said Will.

"Blastoise." I said. "Use Hydropump."

Xatu was critically hit. Will did not expect this attack, it was clear by his facial expressions.

"Xatu, use Confuse Ray."

Blastoise was confused. He hit himself in his confusion.

"Xatu, Psychic." Blastoise was critically hit.

"Blastoise!" I said. "Come on, snap out of it. Use Skull bash."

Blastoise hit himself in his confusion.

"Xatu, use Psychic."

Blastoise fainted. I called him back and detached a Pokeball.

"Go Ivysaur." I said. "Use Razor Leaf."

Xatu fainted. Will called his Xatu back.

"Go Jynx." Said Will. "Use Ice Punch."

"Ivysaur, use Solarbeam."

Ivysaur absorbed sunlight. Will smirked.

"Jynx, use Body Slam." He said. Ivysaur fainted.

I called Ivysaur back. "Go Pikachu. Use Thunderbolt."

Jynx fainted. My heart was beating fast, I had no idea what Pokemon Will would be surprising me with.

"Exeggutor, I choose you." Said Will.

I did not expect him sending an Exeggutor. It was resistant to electric type moves, meaning that Pikachu didn't stand a chance.

"Use Egg Bomb." Said Will. Pikachu was slammed into the wall and fainted.

I remember the same thing that happened during Indigo League. I had lost all my hope of winning, but the thought of even standing there kept me going. And I was gonna do the same thing, and this time I was going to win, without changing my fate by using some golden colored Pokeball.

"Pikachu, come back." I said. "Go Charizard."

Now, I had a type advantage and there no one could stop me from winning. "Use Flamethrower!"

Exeggutor fainted.

"Good call." Said Will, smiling. "But can your Charizard beat him?"

He detached a Pokeball and sent his final Pokemon. I crossed my fingers and prayed that the Pokemon should not be Lugia.

"Go Slowking." He said. Well, it wasn't Lugia, but it was just as bad. "My turn for a type advantage. Slowking, Water Pulse."

Charizard was critically hit.

"C'mon Charizard, show him what you got." I said, confidently. "Use Dragon Rage."

Charizard was using this attack after a very ling time. And it was twice more powerful than the last time.

"Slowking, use Brine."

Charizard fainted. I was just left with Ditto and Espeon, I started to breathe faster, I was scared, which wasn't a customary feeling.

I knew the elites were gonna use stronger Pokemon for me as they knew I had covered a region before Johto. Making it easier for Lyra to win. Will would probably use Natu against her, or maybe Slowpoke.

"Charizard, come back." I said. Deciding what I would send as my next Pokemon. Espeon was surely of no use against a Psychic type.

I looked into the Pokedex to see Slowpoke's attacks. Psychic, Water Pulse, Brine and Shadow Ball were listed.

Shadow ball, being a dark type move was the key to my victory. I really wished Ditto could transform by looking at the Pokedex but it wasn't allowed during formal Pokemon battles.

"Go Ditto" I said, sending out Ditto. "Ugh, transform."

I never understood why it was necessary to tell him to transform.

"Use Shadow Ball." Said Will. Ditto fainted. My heart sank into the deepest parts of the Kanto Ocean, I was so stupid. Ditto was hardly even level 20.

I was only left with Espeon.

"Go Espeon." I said.

"Slowking, use Shadow Ball." Slowking's attack missed.

"Espeon, use Take Down." I said, with my fingers crossed. Slowking fainted.

I won. I looked around, Leaf used to cheer for me whenever I won a battle, but this time I expected the same from Lyra. Surprisingly, she was nowhere to be seen.

"Well done, Red." Said Will. "I knew you were a great trainer, I saw your final battle months ago against Blue. To be honest, this was a close one. I honestly recommend using a stronger team, I was the easy part."

"Um, I myself was thinking to do so."

Will walked forward to shake hands and removed his mask. "Ah I just wear this for the fans, people expect me to wear it due to the manga version of me. They love me."

I smiled. We shook hands.
