Ruins Of Alph

Professor Oak's POV

It was another day, of the same boring Professor life. I was watering the plants outside my lab. I was hoping for a call from Red or Leaf.

Leaf called more often than Red. Her last call was from Oreburgh City after she won the coal badge.

I realized that the television was on, when suddenly I heard a reporter's voice from it.

'This is live from Petalburg City, remains of an asteroid have been found, a triangular...', said the TV reporter, and I muted the TV.

I quickly rushed to the computer and dialed a friend's number.

'Hello ? Professor Oak ?', he said.

'Birch, I need you to go to Petalburg right now', I said.

'Ah, the asteroid, I was heading that way, almost there', said Birch. 'Don't worry I'll send you the data'.

'I don't need the data, just do me a favour, check for any DNA', I said.

'Don't worry...I...I...don't believe it. It's...', said Birch.

'Don't freak out, I know, we've dealt with this before, we can do it again', I said.

'We can't, we were young at that time, I was twelve, you were in your fortys', said Birch. 'But now, we can't'.

'We have to, or we could just take help', I said. 'There are plenty of trainers out there'.

'What if it's more powerful now ? No one would be able to fight it', said Birch.

'Birch, they just need to destroy the gem in it's chest and done'.

'Just like that ? You think it's that easy ? We struggled, we lost people, hundreds of people died. And if it gets in the hands of Team Magma or Aqua, we're doomed'.

'You're concerned about those two rookie teams ? We should be concerned about Team Rocket. Their plans are getting worse. Just like he told us', I said.

'Who ?', asked Birch. 'Oh, sorry, I remember. Yes, I believe Team Rocket is working on that plan. They don't have the frequency, do they ?'.

'Not yet', I said. 'I'll talk to you later'.

Birch hung up the call. I un-muted the TV.

'...Anderson, from Hoenn News Network', said the reporter, and the camera focused on a three feet deep triangular hole in the ground.

Red's POV

Another warm day in Johto. The sky was clear blue, no clouds, only the yellow hot sun.

I was sitting on the chair next to the study table, organising my bag which was pretty messed up.

Ethan was in the rest room. And Lyra, she was - Lyra, running here and there looking for her things.

My bag's fainting yellow color reminded me the time it took to reach Johto - 8 months.

It was my birthday, the day I got my starter Pokemon - 8 August 2013.

'Red !', shouted Lyra, impatient.

'What ?', I asked, politely. 'Why are you shouting ?'.

'Only because you stared at your bag even after I called your name ten times'.

'I was thinking of something', I said. I grabbed out a photograph out of my bag and smiled.

Flashback...

Dad was holding my hand and I held a Pokeball. We were on Route One, in front of me, stood a Poliwag.

'Okay, Red. It's gonna be fine, you can catch it. Just believe in me, okay ?', said Dad, trying to calm me down.

I was afraid of Pokemon, when I was seven. Dad usually told me bits of his journey, when he was a Trainer, to make me feel better in front of Pokemon.

'But Dad, what if it doesn't like me ?', I asked. 'What if...'.

'Red, just throw the ball', said Dad. 'And why wouldn't it like you ? Nobody hates Red'.

I closed my eyes and threw the ball on the Poliwag. It went inside, the ball shook for a while and flashed.

Poliwag was caught.

'See ? Easy. Now, you're his trainer', said Dad. 'Let's show it to Mom, she's gonna love it'.

...Flashback Over

I looked at Dad in photograph, whose hand rested upon my shoulder. I was holding the Poliwag.

'Where is Poliwag now ?', asked Lyra, smiling.

'I lost him...on a school trip. One of the worst days of my life', I said.

'Where ?'.

'Pewter Museum', I replied. 'He was the first Pokemon I trained, he evolved into Poliwhirl, but...I lost him'.

'We've all had harsh times', said Lyra.

'Two weeks later, Dad...', I said, stopping myself to say any further.

'Uncle Ben', said Lyra.

'He always used to say...', I said, interrupted.

'With great powers, comes great responsibilities ?', asked Lyra.

'No. He used to say - a man often meets his destiny on the very road he takes to avoid it', I said.

'That's the truth about life, how long were you and Poliwhirl friends ?'.

'A year', I said, and tears started coming from my eyes.

'It's fine, in the end, everything works out', said Lyra.

'It doesn't', I replied. 'Okay, enough talks, let's go'.

'To Ruin One ? Yeah, about that. It went kaboom', said Ethan, entering the room.

'Kaboom ?', asked Lyra.

'Come on, I'll show you', said Ethan, working towards the staircase.

We brisked through the corridor and walked down the staircase. Then, rushed outside the PokeCentre.

Ruin One was falling, walls were now rocks. There was not much left. Officer Jenny stood there lifting the rocks with the help of her Pokemon.

'A Spinarak', said Ethan, pointing his Pokedex towards the Pokemon.

'Spinarak, a String Spit Pokemon. It lies still in the same pose for days in it's web, waiting for it's unsuspecting prey to wander close'.

'Officer, what happened here ?', asked Lyra.

'Someone triggered the Unowns free in Ruin One', said Officer Jenny. 'Some research team, who got injured have been safely taken care of'.

'So, this Unown, what is it ?', I asked.

'It's an ancient Pokemon, nobody knows any further about them', said Officer Jenny.

'Help !', shouted a very familiar voice. We turned around, only to see...Bugsy.

'Is he real ?', I asked Lyra, whispering.

'If only Officer Jenny can see him', said Lyra.

'Bugsy, your research team is safe, no need to worry', said Officer Jenny.

'Not that. My research team had 10 people, only 9 have been taken to the hospital', said Bugsy.

Bugsy sounded different than before. I figured he was the real one.

'So let's find the last guy', said Ethan. 'Go Hoothoot, use Peck on the rocks to break them'.

'Hoothoot', said Hoothoot, in it's high pitched funny voice.

'Go Houndour', said Ethan. 'Use Tackle on the rocks, break'em all'.

Literally, in no time, the rocks were dust. A staircase could clearly be seen, going downwards. A man ran upstairs and thanked Ethan for saving him, then, left.

'Well, thank you...', said Bugsy.

'Ethan', said Ethan.

'Thank you for helping', said Bugsy. 'You must be his friends. Hi, I'm Bugsy. Azalea Town's Gym Leader'.

'Uh, hello', I said, weirdly. 'What did your research team do here ?'.

'Um, we accidentally triggered an ancient Pokemon, Unown, to wake up from its sleep', said Bugsy. 'And a couple of them attacked us, destroying the ruin. I'm glad they trapped themself'.

Aurora's POV

I was sitting on a couch in my apartment. Violet City was a weird place, it was really quiet.

I was day dreaming about getting a promotion, that I knew I was going to get very soon.

Suddenly, Kevin opened the door with a loud thud. He was panting.

'Good news', he said, closing the door with a bang. 'And sorry for almost breaking the door'.

'What news ? Another bank robbery ?', I asked, annoyed of my job.

'Nope', he said, overjoyed.

'Kidnapping ?', I asked.

'Wrong', he said.

'What ? Theft ? Or someone's Smeargle got lost ?', I asked, making it obvious.

'No', he said. 'We have been given that Asteroid case. If we investigate it, and come to some conclusion, we might get a promotion'.

'Really ?', I asked, jumping off of the couch in excitement.

'Yeah, but I don't think it would be that easy like the other...', said Kevin, interrupted.

'I know', I said. 'But I also know we could do it, together'.

'Hm. So should I start packing ?', asked Kevin, picking up a bag that appeared from nowhere.

'Packing ? For what ?', I asked.

'Have you not seen the news ? We have to go to Hoenn. That triangular thing we saw in the video, it crashed in Hoenn', said Kevin.

'Hoenn ?', I said. 'I stayed away from that place for years, and now I have to go there again ?'.

'I know, Aurora. Your parents...', said Kevin, interrupted.

'Yeah, they didn't want me to become a reporter. I hope they aren't angry at me anymore, haven't talked to them for like a year', I said.

'Happens', said Kevin. 'Should I book the tickets ?'.

'Yeah, but look at the cheap ones, about fifty thousand Pokedollar one', I said.

'Uh, you wanna sit in an unventilated bus, so that much is enough', said Kevin.

'Oops, just forget about it. Get airplane tickets', I said, rushing to my room.

I picked up a bag and started to put my clothes inside.

Kevin walked inside the room. 'I am so excited about this'.

'For the first time, we got a high level case, and I know we can do this', I said.

'Somehow, like we always do', said Kevin.

'We surely will', I said. 'But first we have to figure out, where the hell did that pendrive go ?'.

'Oh, that. We were so close from our promotion', said Kevin. 'Just have to find that God damn pendrive and promotion will come running to us'.

'Enough talks, pack your bag, and book the tickets', I said.

'Yeah, okay', said Kevin, leaving.

I was putting my toothbrush inside my bag, when Murkrow flew through the open window and inside the room.

I turned to him. 'Did you find it ?', I asked, and Murkrow gave a sad look. 'Its okay, Murkrow, you don't have to be sad'.

Murkrow smiled and I smiled back.
